    مستخلص البحث نتيجة الطلاب بمادة النحو لاختبار النهائي في مدرسة الإرشاد المتوسطة الإسلامية يدل على أنها مرتفعة. ولذلك فيحتاج إلى تحليل بنود أسئلة لمعرفة هل السؤال يستوفى معايير بنود أسئلة الجيد أو غير الجيد. وهذا البحث وعينته في الفصل الثالث/أ في مدرسة الإرشاد المتوسطة الإسلامية باتو. ومجتمع في هذا البحث كل الطلاب في مدرسة الإرشاد المتوسطة الإسلامية في مدينة باتو. الأهداف في هذا البحث هي: لقياس درجة الصدق والثبات ودرجة الصعوبة ودرجة التمييز وفعالية التشتت في بنود أسئلة اختبار لمادّة النحو على أساس مهارات التفكير العليا (HOTS) في مدرسة الإرشاد المتوسطة الإسلامية باتو. في هذا البحث، استخدم الباحث المدخل الكمي والمنهج الوصفي. وأسلوب تحليل البيانات في هذا البحث هي المقابلة والوثائق من ورقة الأجوبة الاختبار النهائي. وأما نتيجة في هذا البحث هي: 1) بنود الاختبار النحو يدل على الصدق الجيد هو 60%، 2) والثبات يدل على درجة 0،881 في تصنيف مرتفع جدا، 3) والتمييز في تصنيف المتوسط لأن 76% في درجة جيد ومقبول، 4) و الصعوبة بنود الاختبار هي سهلة لأن لا أحد من درجة الصعبة، هي 54% أسئلة المتوسط ثم 46% أسئلة السهلة، 5) والتشتت بنود أسئلة اختبار لمادة النحو في تصنيف الجيد لأن 68% فعلا. بنود الاختبار النهائي لمادة النحو يحتاج إلى التحقيق في درجة العليا حتى يحتاج إلى التفتيشها أو تبدل. ABSTRACT The score of Arabic language students on the odd semester final exam at MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu shows high results. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the question to find out whether the question meets the criteria for a good question or not. This research was conducted in class 3/A at MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu. The population in the study were all students of MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu. The purposes of this research are to measure the level of validity and the level of reliability and to measure the level of difficulty and to measure the level of discriminating power and to measure on Nahwu test items the level of distractor effectiveness based on high order thinking skill (HOTS) at MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu. In this study, the author uses a quantitative approach and descriptive method. The data collection technique in this research is the study of documentation of the odd semester final exam question sheet and interview. The results of this study are: 1) the odd semester final exam questions show good validity that is 60%, 2) reliability indicates a high category that is 0,881, 3) differentiating power is categorized as medium, because 76% got a good and sufficient value, 4) the difficult category is easy category, because no one of the questions are difficult, there are only 54% medium questions and 46% easy questions, 5) and the effectiveness of distractors in the odd semester final exam shows good category, because 68% effective distractor. The final Nahwu exam questions require achievement at the high level, so this question needs to be reviewed or replaced. ABSTRAK Nilai siswa mata pelajaran Nahwu pada ujian akhir semester di sekolah MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu menunjukkan hasil yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu, maka perlu adanya analisi terhadap soal tersebut untuk mengetahui apakah soal yang diujikan sudah memenuhi kriteria soal yang baik atau tidak. Sampel yang diambil dalam penelitian ini yaitu kelas 3/A di sekolah MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu. Populasi dalam penelitian ini merupakan seluruh siswa di sekolah MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengukur tingkat validitas soal, tingkat reliabilitas soal, tingkat kesukaran soal, tingkat daya pembeda soal, dan untuk mengukur efektivitas pengecoh dalam soal ujian Nahwu berdasarkan kemampuan berpikir tingkat tinggi (HOTS) di sekolah MTsS Al-Irsyad Batu. Dalam penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini adalah studi dokumentasi lembar soal ujian semester dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini adalah: 1) soal ujian akhir semester menunjukkan validitas yang baik yaitu 60%, 2) reliabilitas menunjukkan kategori sangat tinggi yaitu 0,881, 3) daya pembeda menunjukkan kategori sedang, karena 76% memperoleh nilai baik dan cukup, 4) tingkat kesukaran menunjukkan kategori mudah, karena tidak ada satupun soal yang sulit, hanya terdapat soal yang sedang 54% dan soal yang mudah 46%, 5) dan efektivitas pengecoh pada soal ujian semester mata pelajaran Nahwu menunjukkan kategori baik, karena 68% pengecoh efektif.     The Influence of Gender and Diction in Advertisements: Discourse Analysis

    The aims of this study is to find out the influence of gender and diction in advertisement and also to reveal the message between them. This study uses descriptive qualitative analysis since the data are not statistically analyzed and the data of this study are picture and text which exist in the advertisement. The findings of this study show that diction and gender have integrated each other. Both of them have much influence and big power to support the advertisement to convince the consumers of some particular product. Furthermore, the strategy which is used is brand image and unique selling proposition. The advertisers tried to show the roles of gender and diction in order to attract the consumers. Finally, this study has much beneficial for those who want to know more about the way the advertisements can attract the consumers. There are several ways to make a good advertisement and one of the strategy is gender and image must correlate each other to introduce to the consumers to buy the product. Additionally, this research gives additional information for those who intend to conduct the research on the same topic but different object of the research to get varied result of the research

    ABSTRACT In conversation we may feel fluent in the way we deliver our speech especially in English language. Whereas, if we observe and analyze our self, we will find that in the middle of our speech we often repeat talking a word or a sentence and pauses it. At this point, they just keep silent for a while or make some pauses. According to Clark and Clark (1977) silent pause is a period of no speech between words. In this research, the researcher investigates about silent pause which has been done by some characters in the Hobbit Movie. The researcher wants to discuss functions which are used by some characters. This research is using descriptive qualitative. Qualitative research is done to describe and analyzed the phenomena on the use of silent pauses that usually appear in a movie. Therefore, the researcher tries to describe of silent pauses used in The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey movie. The researcher analyzed the data by using Grace’s theory of silent pause. The researcher finds that most of the functions of silence presented by Grace are used by the characters. The most dominant function is anger and displeasure which contain sixteen data of fifty nine data, followed by disapproval which contains twelve data. After that cooperation is in the position three which contain eleven data. Next sorrow, indifference, and confusion, each of them contain fourth data in the whole of the movie. In contrary malice/contempt/and jealousy is not found in the data. The researcher suggests for the next researchers can investigate the same field that is in silent pause and they can use another theory of silent pause such as Caroll (1985). It is also suggested for the next researcher to investigate another field of psycholinguistic study such as hesitation and filled pause to enhance the knowledge on pauses. ABSTRAK Didalam pembicaraan terkadang kita sering merasa bahwa ketika kita bicara kita lancar dalam membawakannya, khususnya ketika berbicara dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris. Padahal, ketika kita mau mengamati dan mentelaah lebih lanjut pada diri kita, kita akan menemukan bahwasanya kita sering melakukan pengunlangan dalam berbicara dan menjedanya. Pada waktu ini, mereka hanya diam sesaat atau melakukan jeda ditengah obrolan mereka. Menurut Clark dan Clark (1977) silent pause adalah dimana ada masa untuk diam sesaat antara satu kata dengan kata yang lain. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti meneliti tentang diam sesaat yang telah dilakukan oleh para krakter yang berada dalam film The Hobbit. peneliti ingin mendiskusikan fungsi dari silent pause tersebut yang telah dilakukan oleh beberapa karakter. Penelitian ini menggunakan deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian kualitatif dilakukan untuk mendiskripsikan tentang fenomena pada penggunaan silent pause yang biasanya terdapat pada beberapa film. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mencoba mendiskripsikan silent pause yang digunakan pada film The Hobbit an Unexpected Journey. Peneliti menganalisa data dengan menggunakan teori yang telah dikemukakan oleh Grace. Peneliti menemukan bahwasanya kebanyakan dari karakter melakukan silent pause menggunakan teori fungsi dari silent pause yang telah diperkenalkan oleh Grace. Fungsi yang paling dominan adalah anger and displeasure yang mana berisi enam belas dari lima puluh Sembilan data, disusul oleh disapproval yang berisikan dua belas data. Setelah itu cooperation diposisi ke tiga yang berisi sebelas data. Kemudian sorrow, indifference, dan confusion, yang masing-masing berisikan empat data dalam keseluruhan film tersebut. Kebalikannya malice/contempt/and jealousy tidak ditemukan pada film tersebut. Peneliti menyarankan untuk peneliti-peneliti selanjutnya agar dapat meneliti pada bidang yang sama yaitu silent pause dan mereka dapat menggunakan teori yang berbeda dari silent pause itu sendiri seperti halnya Caroll (1985). Peneliti-peneliti selanjutnya disarankan agar bisa meniliti bidang yang lain dari psikolinguistik sepertihalnya hesitation dan filled pause untuk bisa lebih memperkaya ilmu dari diam sesaat itu sendiri

    ABSTRAK Visualisasi penentuan posisi awal bulan pada awal bulan qamariyah diperlukan untuk membantu menggambarkan posisi bulan jika saat rukyat langit dalam keadaan mendung, sehingga bulan tidak tampak dilangit karena tertutup awan. Metode Ephemeris merupakan metode yang digunakan oleh Departemen Agama Republik Indonesia dalam menentukan awal bulan Qamariyah berdasarkan software winhisab, untuk menghitung awal bulan qamariyah harus menghitung secara semi-manual yaitu menggunakan rumus yang dikeluarkan Departemen Agama Republik Indonesia dan meggunakan data ephemeris matahari dan data epehemeris bulan yang dihitung dengan winhisab. Untuk memecahkan permasalahan tersebut maka perlu dibangun software yang dapat melakukan perhitungan secara keseluruhan sistem serta dapat memvisualisasikan posisi bulan sesuai hasil perhitungan. Algoritma Astronomi karya Jean Meuus atau dikenal dengan Algoritma Meuus dapat digunakan untuk membantu perhitungan data-data ephemeris bulan dan matahari . Berdasarkan hasil uji coba, dapat diketahui bahwa software layak guna untuk dapat membantu dalam perhitungan awal bulan qamariyah serta memvisualisasikan posisi bulan sesuai hasil perhitungan karena telah dilakukan validasi dengan membandingkan hasil perhitungan dengan winhisab dan dengan software hasil penelitian memiliki toleransi 81% persen dengan toleransi maksimal 0,5. ABSTRACT Visualization of the position at the beginning of the early months qamaiyah needed to help illustrate the position if the current month in the cloudy sky Rukyat state, so the moon is not visible in the sky as the clouds closed. Ephemeris method is a method used by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in determining the beginning of the month Qamariyah winhisab based software, to calculate the beginning of the month qamariyah be semi-manually calculate using the formula issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia and solar ephemeris data reception and data epehemeris months calculated by winhisab. To overcome this problem needs to be built software that can perform calculation of the overall system and can visualize the position of the moon in accordance with the results of the calculation. Astronomical Algorithms by Jean Meuus Meuus or known by the algorithm can be used to aid the calculation of the moon and sun ephemeris data. Based on trial results, it is known that the right software to be able to assist in the early months qamariyah calculations and visualize the position of the moon according to the results of the calculation because it has been validated by comparing the results of calculations with winhisab software and research results has a tolerance of 81% percent with a tolerance, Maximum 0 5

It aims to empower them understand English vocabulary related to their surroundings.This study focuses on the implication of vocabulary instruction in elementary students through pictures. The use of pictures initiate and activate students curiosity on topic. This study focuses on the use of pictures in learning vocabulary to elementary students. The data collection technique was in the form of observation and field note in one of state Elementary School (SDN) in Surabaya. The study found that picture game is useful to empower students in learning English vocabulary. In addition, students are able not only to write the words correctly, but also to construct simple sentence.     THE IMPLEMENTATION OF PEER FEEDBACK IN EFL WRITING CLASS

    This study investigates the implementation of peer feedback in writing class. The participants were EFL students in a private university in Surabaya who took essay writing subject in academic year 2020-2021. This study found that the implementation of peer feedback was perceived as a positive activity for writing performance. Students preferred peer feedback because of several reasons, such as: to detect writing problems, to write better in terms of grammar, to analyze writing and paragraph development and spelling. Most students wrote that peer feedback refers to providing comments and suggestions rather than judging each other work. They found that from several aspects of writing, grammar is the most important aspect that must be corrected among other. They confirmed that grammar is vital because it decides on how formal the writing should be and it is a crucial aspect for ensuring the writer’s point is getting across. Another aspect is paragraph development. It is another fundamental aspect of writing since it links the writer’s ideas to the readers. Furthermore, students affirmed that peer feedback can be used as a means to re-conceptualize students’ thinking. This is a meaningful contribution for students critical thinking and to improve autonomy. Therefore, peer feedback facilitates students wider opportunity to develop writing which further lead to self-determination learner

    Teachers' perceptions and their interventions toward bullying at Aceh modern Islamic boarding school (pesantren)

    The research topic of teachers perceptions and interventions toward bullying behavior at the two selected modern pesantren in Aceh is examined through phenomenographical and phenomenological study. The study focuses on obtaining substantial information of teachers perceptions and their interventions in the bullying problem in the modern pesantren environment. Pesantren is an equivalent to boarding school which facilitates students with formal schooling and dormitory facility. The additional feature of the pesantren which is different from boarding school in general is Islamic studies content. Pesantren are suspected for frequent bullying occurrence due to continuous interaction among students at school and in their residential setting, thus, teachers appropriate perceptions and interventions are two crucial issues which need to be investigated. This study provides an analysis of how teachers at the pesantren conceptually perceive bullying behavior and their concrete actions to prevent the behavior. This study attempts to uncover information of the teachers perceptions and their interventions in the bullying problem phenomenographically from 10 teachers of the two selected pesantren. This study also interviews 7 students from both pesantren to confirm the data obtained from the teachers interviews. The research data of this study is comprised of interviews of teachers, students, and observation of the participants. The key categories of the study involve various aspects of the bullying issue and teachers interventions such as: bullying is related to teasing, mocking or name calling, bullying is related to the physical attack of seniors to juniors, bullying is related to threatening, and bullying is caused by school culture, intervening by using pesantren policy, intervening by advising, intervening by mediation, intervening by parents meeting, and intervening by physical sanction. These categories are approached from theoretical as well as practical viewpoints and aim to build a holistic understanding of the teachers perceptions and interventions of bullying behavior at the pesantren. The theoretical basis to teachers perception and their interventions of the issue discusses several previous studies concerning teachers perception of bullying behavior globally and also several theoretical perspectives of the reasons behind bullying problem such as; social identity theory, social cognitive learning and modelling, and socio-ecological theory. At the core of the theoretical framework, Urie Bronfenbrenner outlines that the individual is an inseparable element of a social system consisted of four interconnected systems; microsystem, mesosystem, exosystem, and macrosystem, and those systems are the basis for bullying occurrence. The study reveals that the teachers at the pesantren perceive bullying as a dangerous behavior which needs to be tackled. The study also discovers that the teachers at the pesantren employ several interventions in the form of reactive approach rather than proactive. However, the fascinating finding from the present research is that the teachers positive perceptions (bullying is harmful) and their concrete actions to prevent bullying within the pesantren community cannot reduce its occurrence significantly. Particularly, teasing, mocking or name-calling is becoming the habit, tradition, and culture in the pesantren environment

The influences involve all parts of language learning such language skills (speaking, reading, listening, and writing) and language components (vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation). In particular, this current study focuses on investigating the influence of first language on the pronunciation of second language. It is found that there is a negative transfer got by most of the members of English club at MTS Salafiyah Syafiiyah Mumbulsari Jember. The respondents make more mistakes or errors because of the interference of their L1 to the L2 as a result of negative transfer. This paper is divided into seven parts.     Analysis of Translation Techniques in The English Subtitle of The Movie Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 1

    A mistake in translating a single word may cause thousands of deaths. An unimaginable fact that mistranslation cost 80.000 lives in Japan in August 1945 proves that translating a text should be taken into consideration and done carefully. Translating a source language (SL) into a target language (TL) is problematic and not as simple as only transposing SL into TL because this activity closely relates to different cultures. Therefore, this study is aimed at analyzing the translation techniques in the English subtitle of the movie “Ketika Cinta Bertasbih 1”. This qualitative study focuses on Molina and Albir’s translation techniques used in the English movie subtitle. The primary data were collected from the dialogs and the English subtitle and selected based on the translation problems. Furthermore, the data were analyzed and interpreted descriptively to identify and explain why and how the translation techniques are used in the English subtitle. This study found that five translation techniques were used to translate the dialogs in bahasa Indonesia (SL) into English subtitle (TL). In the subtitle, this study found the use of adaptation (10 times), transposition (9 times), borrowing (7 times), generalization (3 times) and compensation (once). Those techniques were applied to solve problems in translation, such as cultural differences, in equivalence, untranslatability, and grammatical differences. This study concludes that the techniques proposed by Molina and Albir in 2002 have been a great contribution in the field of translation. The cultural problems which lead to in equivalence and untranslatability, as well as grammatical differences are no longer problematic to translators
