The use of leverage by the company may give big impact toward shareholders' return either in positive or negative way. The study aims to investigate the impact of leverage on shareholders' return. This research are using five (5) independent variable which are debt ratio (DR), long term debt ratio (LTBR), price to book ratio (PTBR), firm size (F S), and tax rate (TR). While the dependent variable is return on equity (ROE). The sample of 100 listed companies randomly selected from Bursa Malaysia was chosen for this study with the time period about 10 years which from 2007 to 2016. The data that had been used in this research is quantitative secondary data and the data structure is panel data. Moreover, the research are conducted by using panel least squares method to generate result for this study. The finding indicate that two independent variable show the significant result which are price to book ratio (PTBR) and tax rate (TR). While the rest show the insignificant result. The price to book ratio (PTBR) show the positive significant impact toward return on equity (ROE) which mean increase in price to book ratio (PTBR) will cause the increase in return on equity (ROE) and vice versa. In contra, the tax rate (T R) show the negative significant impact toward return on equity (ROE) which mean increase in tax rate (T R) will cause the decrease in return on equity (ROE) and vice versa

Linguistic and extra-linguistic problems in the translation of the Holy Qur'an

    No full text
This thesis is the first to study the English translations of the : Holy Qur'an, and is mainly concerned with the translators' approach in handling the linguistic (lexical & syntactic) , and extra-linguistic (variant readings & cultural ) problems of the text. The works that are the subject of the study are those of six English translators (Sale, Rodwell, Palmer, Pickthall, Bell, and Arberry), as well as one of a non-English Muslim translator from Pakistan (Maulana Muhammad Ali). The translators' renderings of the problematic instances are compared with) the expositions of the exegetes (whom the translators have been familiar with), in order to investigate the commentators' influence on the translators. The similarities between the translators' renderings are also checked to find out the degree of dependence between the translators. The translators are found to be heavily reliant on the exegetes. The degree of dependence between the translators is found to be considerable. Some problems have been resolved by means of- the context (i.e. the text as a whole); whereas others are left unresolved. The translations that have been studied are closer to commentaries than the text. The main conclusion is that the Holy Qur’an is untranslatable in the strict sense

Smart honeycomb tile for small satellites

    No full text
Traditional satellite technologies integrate solar panels, thermo mechanical subsystems, power management, data processing and harness subsystems together in a late stage of design. More recently this approach has become inefficient and its limitation can easily be overcome with modern manufacturing technologies. This paper proposes an innovative approach to embed power, signal processing and harness together with thermo mechanical subsystem(s) and when required, solar panels. The approach has been developed for the AraMiS architecture for low-cost modular satellites, but it can easily be adapted to other architectures, missions and spacecraft sizes. The architecture consists of tiles or panel bodies containing solar panels on exterior side and all necessary electronic subsystems on the interior side. The proposed approach uses very thin commercial PCBs (0.2 or 0.3mm thick) as the lateral skins for honeycomb structure. The interior side also contains commercial tile processors and plug & play connectors for any desired subsystem placement. The processors implement common functionalities for signal processing, data communication and control operation. The interior side can also host power conversion, for an improved fault-tolerant interface of solar panels with the power management subsystem. A high-performance power distribution bus has also been tested, for a distributed approach to satellite power management. The proposed design uses exclusively the UML diagrams for illustration purpose and software handling of housekeeping data

Sheikh Abid Sindhi (d. 1252 A.H) was one of the most distinguished Islamic scholars, jurists, and prolific authors of the Hanafī School of jurisprudence in the twelfth-century A.H from Sindh. He was widely regarded as one of the foremost experts on Hadīth and one of the omniscient men of the recent era of Hanafī Jurisprudence. His expertise in various branches of Islamic knowledge is unique. The most monumental and significant work of Sheikh Abid Sindhi is a commentary on Durr -ul- Mukhtar named: Tawali -al- Anwar Sharh -al- Durr -ul- Mukhtar. Though the commentaries on Durr -ul- Mukhtar are many and varied, the most famous and widespread commentary is Radd -al- Muhtar by Muhammad Amin ibn Abidin Shami (d.1252 A.H). This book is very crucial among Islamic scholars, but Tawali -al- Anwar is a comprehensive, extensive, rich, and authoritative commentary from every aspect of research. It was studied from the Qur‘ānic perspective, referenced from the verses of the Holy Qur‘ān, Qurānic exegesis (Tafsīr), Hadīths, Science of Hadīth, and jurisprudential approaches of Hanafī scholars and intellectual evidence. Undoubtedly, it deserves to be acknowledged as the finest and comprehensive and informative commentary on Durr-ul-Mukhtar. This study focuses on the author`s biography, methodology, and its importance in the Hanafī School of jurisprudence.
