Implementing the Dick and Carey Model in Al-Qur\u27an Instruction within Out-of-School Majelis Taklim Settings
Majelis Taklim is a non-formal educational institution that plays a crucial and strategic role in enhancing the community\u27s Qur\u27an literacy, but is often hindered by the heterogeneity of participants, limited resources, and the lack of a systematic teaching framework. The Dick & Carey model, with its systematic instructional design approach, offers a solution for designing structured and effective Qur\u27anic learning. This study aims to analyze the application of the Dick & Carey model in learning the Qur\u27an in Majelis Taklim, identify supporting factors and obstacles, and develop innovative recommendations to optimize the learning process in the digital era. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study design collected from various sources such as SINTA indexed journals, books, and official documents through systematic searches on Google Scholar, Publish or Perish and so on. Data analysis was conducted through content analysis techniques, including data reduction, data presentation based on themes, and conclusion drawing, with source triangulation to ensure validity. This research is theoretically useful in enriching the discourse on non-formal religious learning design and provides practical guidance for managers and educators (asatidh) in Majelis Taklim on designing learning integrated with technology. This research concluded that the Dick & Carey Model has proven to be effective with its systematic stages, especially, reinforced by technology such as the Al-Qur\u27an application and social media. However, it is necessary to first increase knowledge and skills in instructional design, utilize digital platforms, and conduct empirical tests through training the educators

Peci and Sarung: Madurese Muslim Identity in Kamal, East Java
This study explores how peci (traditional cap) and sarong are represented as cultural-religious symbols that shape the collective identity of the Muslim Madurese community in Kamal District, Bangkalan, East Java. Using a descriptive qualitative approach and Stuart Hall’s theory of representation, the research was conducted through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The study employed an emic perspective by immersing the researcher in the everyday life of the Telang Dalem community. Findings reveal that peci and sarong are more than religious attire; they are symbols of identity transmitted across generations through family traditions, reinforced by the exemplary conduct of local kiai (Islamic scholars), and embedded in social-religious practices. These symbols serve as expressions of lived piety and loyalty to the moral authority of kiai, while also negotiating between inherited tradition and modern influences. The study concludes that such cultural symbols play a strategic role in preserving local religious identity. Theoretically, it contributes to the anthropology of Islam and identity studies; practically, it offers a model of contextualized religiosity that remains resilient amid social transformation
Freedom of Religion in the 1945 Constitution and the Medina Charter: A Comparative Analysis in the Perspective of Siyasah Dusturiyah
This study aims to analyze the concept of religious freedom in the 1945 Constitution of Indonesia and the Medina Charter from the perspective of Siyasah Dusturiyah (Islamic Constitutional Law). Using a comparative, normative, and juridical approach, this research examines the similarities and differences in the principles of religious freedom between these two constitutional documents. The findings reveal that both the Medina Charter and the 1945 Constitution guarantee religious freedom within the framework of national unity and integrity. The Medina Charter, as the first written political document in Islamic history, recognizes non-Muslims as part of the ummah (nation) and guarantees their right to practice their religion freely, as stated in Articles 1 and 25. Similarly, the 1945 Constitution affirms religious freedom in Article 29 paragraph (2) and Chapter XA Article 28E paragraph (1). From the perspective of Siyasah Dusturiyah, both documents reflect the principles of shura (consultation), justice (\u27adl), and maslahah (public interest) in regulating religious freedom. The study concludes that the principles of religious freedom in Islam, as manifested in the Medina Charter, are highly relevant to and compatible with the constitutional framework of modern Indonesia. This research contributes to the theoretical development of Islamic constitutional law and provides practical insights for strengthening religious freedom policies in Indonesia
Palestine in Indonesian foreign policy: The relevance of Soekarno\u27s speech at the 1955 AAC
The Palestinian issue is one of the most complex conflicts in contemporary global politics, reflecting systemic injustice and the failure of international institutions to uphold human rights and national sovereignty. As a country born from the decolonization struggle, Indonesia has consistently voiced support for Palestinian independence, both through diplomatic, humanitarian, and international forums. This article reveals that President Soekarno\u27s speech at the 1955 Asia-Africa Conference (AAC) was not just a symbolic statement, but became the ideological and moral foundation for Indonesia\u27s foreign policy towards Palestine. Through a qualitative approach with a historical-diplomatic method, this article analyzes the content of Soekarno\u27s speech, KAA documents, and the practice of Indonesian diplomacy from the early era of independence to the post-Reformation period. This research demonstrates that the values of anti-colonialism, South-South solidarity, and global justice, as conveyed by Soekarno, remain the foundation of Indonesia\u27s stance towards Palestine to this day. The scientific contribution of this study lies in strengthening the post-colonial perspective in the study of Indonesian diplomacy and affirming the importance of ideological heritage in shaping the direction of value-based foreign policy
Baznas’ integrated marketing communication strategy in building brand equity
Indonesia boasts immense zakat potential—approximately IDR 327.6 trillion—yet realizes only 10% due to low literacy, eroded trust in official institutions, and entrenched informal practices via musollas, foundations, and direct aid to mustahik. This study examines how BAZNAS optimizes its IMC strategy to broaden reach, bolster trust, and foster muzakki loyalty to official channels. Employing a qualitative, descriptive-exploratory approach, it draws on purposive in-depth interviews, analyzed via thematic development, data reduction, and inference for recommendations. Findings reveal BAZNAS deploys three of eight IMC elements—product advertising, personal selling, public relations, and mobile marketing—anchored by the "Cahaya Zakat" umbrella message. Its brand equity stems from governmental authority, national coordination via provincial/district BAZDA networks, the 3A principles (Safe Syar\u27i, Safe Regulation, Safe NKRI), and personalized rituals like prayer recitation, sustaining muzakki commitment
Determinants of Sharia Accounting Students\u27 Competence in Facing Industry 5.0 at State Islamic Religious Colleges in Java Island
The advent of Industry 5.0 has intensified the demand for graduates to possess not only technical skills but also adaptive, innovative, and ethical competencies. In the context of State Islamic Religious Colleges (PTKIN) in Java, the readiness of Sharia accounting students to meet these demands remains uncertain, particularly regarding the integration of technology and Islamic values. This study examines the determinants of Sharia accounting students’ competence using the Theory of Planned Behavior framework, incorporating factors related to the learning process and educational environment. Data were collected through a questionnaire survey of Sharia accounting students from superior-accredited PTKIN in Java and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling. The findings reveal that enriching educational experiences and the learning environment significantly influence student competence, while academic challenges, active learning, and staff–student interaction do not show significant effects. These results suggest that PTKIN should strengthen curriculum relevance by integrating technology, big data, and artificial intelligence into Sharia accounting education, while encouraging students to proactively develop Industry 5.0–related technological competencies

Religious Legitimacy and Extractive Politics: The Disarticulation of Human Security in Indonesia’s Mining Concessions
This study examines how religious legitimacy shapes and reorders human security discourse within policies granting mining concessions to religious organizations in Indonesia. It departs from the growing involvement of religious actors in extractive sectors and the resulting implications for the protection of people, the environment, and affected communities. Using a qualitative approach grounded in critical discourse analysis and the hegemony theory of Ernesto Laclau and Chantal Mouffe, the study analyzes state statements, elite pronouncements from religious organizations, and national media discourse through systematic coding and relational mapping with NVivo. The findings show that religious concepts—most notably maslahat—operate as a hegemonic nodal point that binds claims of development, welfare, moral obligation, and nationalism into a single chain of equivalence that stabilizes mining concession policies. Within this configuration, human security is not explicitly rejected; rather, it becomes disarticulated and reduced to technical and procedural concerns through the normalization of ecological risks, livelihood vulnerabilities, and social impacts as routine consequences of development. Furthermore, the involvement of religious organizations marks a transformation of religious roles from moral guardians to extractive actors through a mechanism of antagonism displacement, whereby structural conflicts between the state and citizens shift into internal moral debates within organizations. Theoretically, this study affirms that human security constitutes a contested discursive arena rather than a neutral normative framework. It contributes to extractive politics scholarship by demonstrating how religious authority can function as a hegemonic mechanism that stabilizes extractive development while marginalizing ecological and social protection
RACE, RELIGION, AND THE MORAL OF WHITENESS: A POSTCOLONIAL READING OF NADINE GORDIMER’S COUNTRY LOVERS
This article examines Nadine Gordimer’s Country Lovers through an integrated framework drawn from postcolonial criticism, critical race theory, and the genealogy of religion. It argues that Gordimer’s short story offers a concentrated narrative archive of how race and religion function as co-constitutive systems of colonial power. Using a mimetic method of literary criticism, the study treats the narrative as a representational site where social, legal, and moral structures of apartheid South Africa are reproduced and contested. The analysis is grounded in the contemporary understanding of race as a sociohistorical construct whose apparent naturalness conceals political and institutional production. The study also draws on Talal Asad’s formulation of religion as a historically contingent category shaped by European intellectual and colonial histories, as well as Malory Nye’s and Theodore Vial’s arguments that race and religion are inseparable “conjoined twins” of modernity. Within this theoretical constellation, Country Lovers emerges as a text that discloses how Christian-inflected moral orders and secular legal practices jointly uphold racial hierarchies. Close readings of key narrative scenes—Paulus and Thebedi’s secret encounters, the description of the mixed-race infant, the court proceedings, and Thebedi’s coerced silence—demonstrate the ways in which whiteness operates as moral purity while blackness is aligned with sin, transgression, and disposability. By analyzing these narrative elements as mimetic representations of structural power, the article argues that Gordimer’s work illuminates the afterlives of colonial religio-racial discourse in modernity. Ultimately, the study contends that Country Lovers not only critiques apartheid but also exposes the deeper moral and epistemic architectures through which colonialism continues to shape postcolonial consciousness. The article contributes to broader scholarly conversations about decolonization by foregrounding literature as a site where racialized religious imaginaries are produced, contested, and potentially transformed
