A estrutura sintático-semântica do singular nu: o que a morfologia de gênero indica?
Dissertação (mestrado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão, Programa de Pós-Graduação em Linguística, Florianópolis, 2013.Este trabalho é uma investigação sobre o tipo semântico do sintagma singular nu no Português Brasileiro e intenta responder ao questionamento de se esse sintagma é um argumento ou um predicado, por meio de um experimento psicolinguístico. Apresentam-se as propostas de Schmitt & Munn (1999) e Pires de Oliveira & Rothstein (2011), que tomam o singular nu como argumento, e a proposta de Müller (2002, entre outros), que o toma como predicado. Mostra-se que a argumentação de Müller em defesa dessa análise é falha especialmente em função do argumento que a autora cria com sentenças predicativas que apresentam um singular nu feminino em posição (ao menos superficial) de sujeito: ela afirma serem gramaticais apenas sentenças nas quais não há concordância de gênero do adjetivo com o ?sujeito? singular nu. Com um experimento psicolinguístico, mostra-se que essa intuição não é a dos informantes e propõe-se uma nova análise para tais sentenças: (1) quando o adjetivo apresenta morfologia de gênero feminino, ele está predicando sobre o singular nu e com ele estabelece vínculo de concordância ? por isso, ele está em posição sintática de sujeito (e é, em decorrência, sintaticamente, um DP e, semanticamente, um argumento) ?; (2) quando o adjetivo não apresenta morfologia de gênero feminino, ele não está predicando sobre a denotação do singular nu como um indivíduo e, sim, sobre um evento/situação, com o qual estabelece vínculo de concordância neutra. Nesse caso, o singular nu não é o real sujeito da sentença. Abstract : The present work is an investigation on the semantic type of the bare singular in Brazilian Portuguese and attempts to answer the question of whether this phrase is an argument or a predicate through a psycho-linguistic experiment. Propositions from Schmitt & Munn (1999) and Pires de Oliveira & Rothstein (2011) are presented, which take the bare singular as argument, and the proposition of Müller (2002, among others), which take it as predicate. It is shown that Müller's contention in favor of such analysis is flawed, especially because of the argumentation the author creates with predicative sentences which present a feminine bare singular in a position (at least superficially) of a subject: she ensures to be grammatically correct only sentences in which there is no gender agreement of the adjective with the bare singular ''subject''. With a psycholinguistic experiment, it is possible to show that such intuition is not the one from the participants and a new analysis is proposed for such sentences: (1) when the adjective presents feminine gender morphology, it is predicating on the bare singular and establishes an agreement bond with it - hence, it is in a syntactic position of subject (and is, for that matter, syntactically DP, and semantically an argument) -; (2) when the adjective does not present feminine gender morphology it is not predicating on the denotation of the bare singular as an individual, but on an event/situation, with which it establishes a neutral agreement bond. This way, the bare singular is not the real subject in the sentence
Asymptotic freedom effects in nu and nu inelastic scattering
Presents an analysis of the effects of asymptotic freedom on charged current nu and nu deep inelastic scattering. The author considers both the GIM model and the five-quark model with right-handed couplings, and calculates the Q/sup 2/ dependence of the quark distributions as given by asymptotic freedom, and uses these distributions to calculate sigma /sup nu // sigma /sup nu /, (y)( nu ) as well as x and y distributions. The effects of asymptotic freedom in charm and b quark production are studied, as well as the sensitivity of the results to the shape of the gluon distribution. The importance of comparing theory with data excluding low Q/sup 2/ values (say Q/sup 2/>or=2 GeV /sup 2/) in attempting to resolve the high y anomaly controversy, is emphasised. (29 refs)
Nu-DESC DK: the Danish version of the nursing delirium screening scale (nu-DESC)
Abstract Background Delirium is one of the most common complications among elderly hospitalized patients, postoperative patients and patients on intensive care units with a prevalence between 11 and 80%. Delirium is associated with higher morbidity and mortality. Reliable instruments are required to detect delirium at an early time point. The Nursing-Delirium Screening Scale (Nu-DESC) is a screening tool with high sensitivity and good specificity. However, there is currently no official translation after ISPOR guidelines of any Danish delirium assessment tools available. Thereby hampering the implementation of 2017 ESA-Guidelines on postoperative Delirium in the clinical routine. The aim of this study is to provide an official translation and evaluation of the Nu-DESC into Danish following the ISPOR process. Methods The Nu-DESC was translated after International Society for Pharmacoecomonics and Outcome Research (ISPOR) guidelines to Danish after permission of the original author, and is evaluated by medical staff and finally approved by the original author. Results All steps of the ISPOR guideline were consecutively followed, without any major problems. The evaluation of the Nu-DESC DK regarding its intelligibility and feasibility showed no statistically significant differences between nurses and medical doctors ratings. The translation was authorized and approved by the original author. Conclusion This study provides the Nu-DESC DK, an official Danish delirium screening instrument, which can detect all psychomotor types of delirium

Book Review: Ahmad Baso, NU Studies: Pergolakan Pemikiran antara Fundamentalisme Islam dan Fundamentalisme Neo-Liberal (Jakarta: Erlangga, 2006), 510 halaman + xxi.Although this book is entitled NU Studies, which gives one the impression that it constitutes an academic study about the ideological developments within NU, it is in fact more so an effort on the part of the author to advocate and strengthen his own position and opinions against those who hold opposing ideas, be they within NU or outside of the organization. As a result of this aim, it's not surprising that many contradictions and inconsistencies have made their way into the book. This is mainly because the author has employed a strategy of rejecting ideas from his opposition, often without basis, whilst promoting his own views which he considers to be appropriate with the ideology of Ahlussunnah Waljamaah as held by NU.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v13i3.56
HIGH RESOLUTION INFRARED SPECTRUM AND GLOBAL ANALYSIS OF , , AND IN CHSiH

The spectra were obtained with a Bruker IFS 125HR Fourier transform spectrometer using the synchrotron radiation as the continuum source. Three bands were investigated: the silyl rock centred near cm with , its first torsional hot band near cm again with , and the CSi stretch near cm with . For the two fundamentals, the spectra are much improved over those in the earlier studies, with many of the torsional triplets now being clearly resolved even for the unperturbed cases. The main interest is in the hot band, here reported for the first time, where the torsional effects are much larger. Using a Fourier transform waveguide spectrometer at E.T.H., the three -components of the transition in \ have been resolved, where labels the torsional sub-levels. In addition, direct -doubling transitions in \ have been measured for and % . In a global fit, all the new data have been analysed along with the frequencies obtained in earlier investigations. The analysis includes all the important interactions among the torsional stacks of levels for the ground state (), for , and for . These include the previously known (, ) Fermi and (, ) Coriolis interactions, along with a higher order (, ) Coriolis coupling introduced here. This last is responsible for the strong perturbation of the hot band series with for . A good fit was obtained. The Hamiltonian will be discussed with emphasis on the terms required for treating the hot band. {

E949 is a high rate K{sup +} decay at rest experiment with the primary goal of determining |V{sub td}| via a measurement of the branching ratio of the ultra-rare charged kaon decay K{sup +} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{nu}{bar {nu}}. The author reports here related limits from the decays K{sup +} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{gamma}{gamma}, K{sup +} {yields} {pi}{sup +}{gamma} and {pi}{sup 0} {yields} {nu}{bar {nu}} from an analysis of the full E949 dataset
Complete furanics-sugar separations with metal-organic framework NU-1000
Metal-organic framework NU-1000 selectively adsorbs furanics, while completely excluding the adsorption of monomeric sugars from the same aqueous mixture. The highly refined degree of molecular recognition exhibited by NU-1000 is exemplified with it selectively adsorbing 5-hydroxymethylfurfural, even in the presence of up to a 300-fold excess of glucose in solution
K+ -> pi(+) nu(nu)over-bar and FCNC from nonuniversal Z(') bosons
Motivated by the E787 and E949 result for K+-->pi(+)nu(nu) over bar we examine the effects of a new nonuniversal right-handed Z(') boson on flavor changing processes. We place bounds on the tree-level flavor-changing neutral current from K-(K) over bar and B-(B) over bar mixing as well as from the observed CP violation in kaon decay. We discuss the implications for K-->pinu(nu) over bar, B-->Xnu(nu) over bar and B-->tau(+)tau(-). Constraints on new physics from K ->pi nu(nu)over-bar
We study constraints on new physics from the recent measurement of Br(K+-->pi(+)nu(&nu;) over bar) by the E787 and E949 Collaborations. In our analysis, we consider two models of new physics: (a) extra down-type singlet quark model and (b) R-parity violating minimal supersymmetric standard model. We find that K+-->pi(+)nu(&nu;) over bar along with other processes such as K-L-->mu(+)mu(-),epsilon(')/epsilon provide useful bounds on the parameter U-sd, characterizing the off-diagonal Z-d-(s) over bar coupling of model (a). The bounds on Re(U-sd) from (K-L-->mu(+)mu(-))(SD) and Im(U-sd) from epsilon(')/epsilon are so tight that the branching ratio of K+-->pi(+)nu(&nu;) over bar can exceed the standard model value by at most a factor of 2. For model (b), we also obtain stringent bounds on certain combinations of the product of two lambda(ijk)(') couplings originating from L number-violating operator L(i)Q(j)D(k)(c) using K+-->pi(+)nu(&nu;) over bar and K-L-->mu(+)mu(-) processes. Even with the stringent constraints on U-sd [in model (a)] and on products of two R couplings [model (b)], we find that the branching ratio B(K-L-->pi(0)nu(&nu;) over bar) can be substantially different in both of the above models from those predicted in the standard model.Astronomy & AstrophysicsPhysics, Particles & FieldsSCI(E)16ARTICLE9null7
