    The historicity of hadith is still debated in modern hadith studies. The discussion of the historicity of hadith will demonstrate how far the authenticity of hadith can be upheld academically. Azami has responded to the views which question the historicity of hadith. He criticizes not only the Orientalists but also Muslims such as al-Asqalani and al-Baghdadi. Therefore, this paper will analyze the historicity of hadith according to Azami.

    Problematika kesejarahan hadis masih tetap menjadi isu utama dalam pengkajian hadis modern. Urgensitas pengkajian historisitas hadis akan mengungkap sejauhmana keotentikan hadis dapat dipertanggungjawabkan secara ilmiah. Berbagai pandangan yang ada dan berkembang dewasa ini perlu mendapat tanggapan serius, sebab di dalamnya ada pandangan yang tidak sesuai secara fakta historis-empiris. Problem utama tulisan ini menyangkut sejauhmana argumentasi pemikiran kesejarahan hadis benar-benar dapat diterima secara ilmiah. Sementara pendekatan yang dipakai lebih bersifat historis, dengan mengacu pada model sejarah pemikiran. Azami mencoba memberikan kritik dan pelurusan atas beberapa pandangan yang mencoba mendistorsi kesejarahan hadis. Bukan hanya kalangan orientalis semata yang mendapat kritik dari Azami, termasuk ulama sekaliber al-Asqalani dan al-Baghdadi juga mendapat sorotan. Ungkapan kodifikasi hadis seringkali diasumsikan semua proses penulisan hadis sejak masa awal. Sementara dalam lintasan sejarah kodifikasi hadis baru ada masa az-Zuhri. Azami menjelaskan bahwa penulisan (kitabah) hadis berbeda dengan kodifikasi (tadwin) hadis. The most interesting modern hadith study nowdays is historical problem of hadith. Because it will verify original or genuine hadith truely and scientifically. Many though must be respondsed seriously, nevertheless, it could not have based on the contex historically and empirically. Because some of distortion in historical hadith, Azami gives critical thought not only to orientalist thought but also to the popular scholar Asqalani and Albagdadi. In Azami's thought differenciated between kitabah of hadith and tadwin of hadith

    One of controversial conclusions of the orientalists? study on the hadis is that the authenticity of the hadis is actually not as high as the Muslims believed so far, because none of the traditions of the Prophet is truly authentic from the Prophet, especially the tradition re- lating to fiqh. The conclusion was in turn confirmed that it is very dif- ficult to trust the hadis literature as a whole as an authentic record of all the sayings and practices of Prophet Muhammad. The conclusion has thus aroused reactions from the Muslim researchers, among others, a leading researcher on hadis, Muhammad Mustafa Azami. Azami found that doubts expressed by the orientalists in the system of sanad are due to the their methodological errors in studying on sanad material studies, that is because they generally did not examine the chain of transmis- sion based on the hadis main books, but on the books of fiqh and sirah wich were prepared in different way from the hadis book. Azami refu- ted the conclusions of the Orientalists and proved the authenticity of the hadisin several ways, included comparing the hadisfrom many students? collections with their teachers? collections of hadis, comparing the state- ments of the scholars from different times, comparing with the of written documents, and comparing the hadis with verses of the Koran related

    The article discusses the novel 2025. An-Nida al-Akhir [2025. The Last Call] written by a young Egyptian journalist and writer born in 1982 - Mustafa al-Husayni. The novel was published in early 2011, between the fall of Zayn al-Abidin Ibn Ali in Tunisia and of Husni Mubarak in Egypt. It describes a revolution against the regime of Jamal al-Mubarak, son of Husni, spurred by a group of young Egyptians. The story takes place in 2025 and anticipates the development of the political situation in Egypt and the Middle East between 2011 and 2025 in a utopian/dystopian manner. Alongside Utopia by Ahmad Khalid Tawfik and the poetry of Usama al-Abnubi and Abd ar-Rahman al-Abnudi, al-Husayni’s book is considered to be a forecast of the Arab Spring in Egypt

    AbstractThis study answered a question why Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s administration set a policy against the Kurds in Turkey in 1923-1938 M. To answer these questions, the author delves myriads of written sources using political approaches. The analysis of this study finds that the enactment of policies towards the Kurds in turkey due to the gap ideology and religion were very strong between the Kurds and the Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s administration. That can inhibit the existence of ethnic Kurds, either in the areas of social, economic, religious, cultural or political. This study also finds when a tribe and nation hampered its existence, they would do such riots, either physical (as do the military war, war bombs) or non-physical (such as a demonstration of a written or unwritten through social media, magazines, newspapers, articles, etc.), to people in power. Thus people who mastered feel deep discrimination and consequently the controlled and controlling equally get the loss. ---Abstrak Studi ini menjawab sebuah pertanyaan yaitu mengapa Pemerintahan Mustafa Kemal Ataturk membuat sebuah kebijakan melawan orang-orang Kurdi di Turki pada 1923-1938 M. Untuk menjawab pertanyaan ini, penulis menganalisis banyak sumber-sumber tertulis menggunakan pendekatan-pendekatan politik. Analisis dari studi ini menemukan bahwa pemberlakuan kebijakan terhadap orang-orang Kurdi di Turki terkait dengan gap ideologi dan agama sangatlah kuat antara orang-orang Kurdi dan Pemerintahan Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Hal ini bisa mengancam eksistensi etnis Kurdi, baik dalam tataran sosial, ekonomi, agama, budaya, maupun politik. Studi ini pun menemukan ketika sebuah suku dan bangsa berada di ujung tanduk, mereka akan melakukan semacam pemberontakan, baik secara fisik (perang militer, perang bom) atau non fisik (demonstrasi tertulis atau tidak tertulis lewat media sosial, majalah-majalah, Koran-koran, artikel-artikel dan lain sebagainya), kepada mereka yang sedang berkuasa. Kemudian, orang-orang yang dikuasainya merasakan adanya diskriminasi yang mendalam dan akibatnya orang yang dikuasai dan yang menguasai sama-sama mendapatkan kerugian.DOI : 10.15408/bat.v23i2.637
