PERKAWINAN LILI DI MANGGARAI: ANTARA HUKUM ADAT DAN AGAMA
Full text linkBudaya Manggarai mengenal berbagai jenis perkawinan. Salah satunya adalah perkawinan lili atau legal married of brother/sister in law. Perkawinan ini dilakukan dengan seorang wanita yang telah menjanda ditinggal mati oleh suaminya. Sementara seorang laki-laki masih ada hubungan keluarga dengan mantan suaminya. Lili sebenarnya bukanlah sebuah perkawinan yang resmi jika dilihat dari tata cara adat perkawinan Manggarai. Lili hanya pengalihan tanggungjawab sebagai suami terhadap seorang janda menggantikan suaminya terdahulu yang telah meninggal. Hukum Perkawinan Gereja Katolik mengizinkan seseorang menikah dengan saudara/saudari pasangan yang sudah meninggal (ipar). Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mendalami adat perkawinan lili masyarakat Manggarai dan perspektif hukum perkawinan Gereja Katolik tentang perkawinan lili. Studi ini menemukan bahwa kendatipun perkawinan lili tidak dilarang Gereja tetapi seringkali bertentangan dengan tujuan perkawinan Katolik karena motivasi perkawinan lili dalam adat perkawinan Manggarai cenderung didasarkan pada tanggung jawab memelihara anak-anak yang ditinggalkan dalam perkawinan sebelumnya. According to Armada Riyanto, love is something that all humans long for, that they hope for, strive for, and experience in life. This research uses qualitative methods and finds that each stage of the experience of love provides an enchanting experience and shows the infinite richness of life. Examining Relational Concepts in Manggarai's Penti Culture through Martin Buber's Philosophy of Relational Dialogue
Full text linkThis study examines the concept of relationality within the Penti culture embraced by the Manggarai people, with special reference to Martin Buber's philosophy of relational dialogue. The primary focus of this study centers on the rituals woven into the fabric of the Penti celebration. The Penti celebration signifies the Manggarai people's profound appreciation for their fellow humans, nature, and the Creator. Within Manggarai belief systems, the preservation of Penti culture is regarded as an obligation, given its repository of invaluable life wisdom values such as brotherhood, cooperation, and reconciliation. Conducted as a literature study, this research employs Martin Buber's philosophy of relational dialogue as an analytical framework to illuminate the concept of relationality embedded in Penti celebration. The findings of this study underscore that Penti serves not only as a harvest thanksgiving celebration but also as a way of life, fostering connections with fellow humans, nature, and the Creator. The Penti celebration also unveils the identity of the Manggarai people as a community that upholds the principles of solidarity among fellow humans, reverence for nature, and respect for the Creator. In general, this research on the Penti celebration enriches the growing studies of local wisdom in Indonesia

Full text linkDi tengah gempuran melawan Covid-19, Indonesia berhadapan dengan tindakan radikalisme agama. Hal ini mencuat dalam kasus bom bunuh diri di depan Gereja Katedral Makasar. Peristiwa ini disinyalir sebagai tindakan atas nama agama. Berkaitan dengan hal ini, studi Pancasila sebagai kristalisasi nilai-nilai peradaban Bangsa Indonesia mendesak untuk dijalankan. Pancasila di yakini dapat meredam segala bentuk intoleransi dan radikalisme agama yang menjadi latar belakang tindakan terorisme. Karena itu, tulisan ini bertujuan menyingkap kristalisasi Pancasila sebagai jiwa bangsa Indonesia. Bangsa Indonesia lahir dari kompromi suku-suku di nusantara yang ingin bersatu. Cita-cita ini dirumuskan oleh pendiri bangsa Indonesia dalam lima sila Pancasila yang digali dari kearifan lokal bangsa Indonesia sendiri. Oleh sebab, Pancasila menjadi tali pengikat yang menjamin keutuhan bangsa Indonesia. Berdasarkan hal tersebut metodologi penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan historis cultural dengan metode fenomenologi interpretatif kearifan lokal suku-suku bangsa, sejarah perjuangan bangsa hingga perumusan Pancasila sebagai landasan konstitutif bangsa Indonesia yang plural. Melalui studi ini ditemukan kebijaksanaan yang merupakan nilai-nilai yang dapat melawan segala bentuk tindakan radikalisme, intoleransi dan terorisme yang mengancam persatuan dan kesatuan bangsa Indonesia
Spirituality of Catholic Teachers in Realizing Multicultural Education in Indonesia
No full textThe spirituality of Catholic teachers is critical, considering that the Indonesian nation is rich in cultural, religious, ethnic, and racial diversity. If not managed, the diversity can lead to problems such as racism, radicalism, and others. This study aims to implement multicultural understanding among Catholic teachers by developing multicultural attitudes. This study uses library research by analyzing previous works on Catholic teachers and multicultural education in Indonesia. The results show that many efforts have been implemented to enhance multicultural education in Indonesia. Furthermore, Catholic teachers are required to be professional in teaching and have a spirituality that was derived from the Catholic faith. This spirituality should always be developed and maintained by realizing Catholic teachers’ status as pastoral agents, educators, apostles, and catechists. The formation of the multicultural character of Catholic teachers starts from inculcating multicultural values and fostering the Catholic faith for prospective Catholic teachers. Prospective Catholic teachers should be prepared to live and become the frontrunner in multicultural education by providing them with proper capacity in interreligious dialogue, comparative philosophy of religion, the study of local wisdom of Pancasila, and contextual theological studies. Prospective Catholic teachers are expected to encourage their future students’ national characters to create an inclusive Indonesian society

Full text linkPenelitian ini berfokus pada penggalian nilai-nilai filosofis yang terkandung dalam budaya pele rsuku Kasong Manggarai-Flores-Nusa Tenggara Timur. Budaya peler adalah ritus yang berisi penghormatan dan rekonsiliasi terhadap alam ciptaan. Karena itu, menggali kekayaan filosofis yang terkandung dalam budaya peler merupakan bentuk penghormatan terhadap kekayaan kearifan lokal. Kearifan lokal ialah filsafat yang hidup di dalam hati masyarakat berupa kebijaksanaan hidup yang melukiskan kedalaman batin manusia dan keluasan relasionalitas manusia dengan sesama, serta menegaskan keluhuran rasionalitas hidupnya. Maka menggali kekayaan filosofis budaya peler merupakan bentuk penghargaan terhadap kebijaksanaan hidup masyarakat Manggarai. Filsafat relasional Martin Buber menjadi kerangka filosofis untuk menggali dan memahami kekayaan filosofis yang terkandung dalam budaya peler. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan studi kepustakaan. Studi ini menemukan bahwa budaya peler suku Kasong Manggarai merupakan sebuah model relasi I and Thou dalam terang pemikiran Martin Buber. Peler sebagai sebuah model relasi I and Thou mengandung didalamnya penghormatan dan penghargaan terhadap alam. Nilai-nilai yang mengalir dari budaya ini ialah keharmonisan, tanggung jawab dan penghargaan terhadap alam semesta. Full text linkThe focus of this paper is to discuss the role of students as agents of truth in an effort to encourage the smooth running of the 2024 General Elections in Indonesia, with reference to the concept of truth according to René Descartes. Through an interdisciplinary approach that combines philosophy and political context, this research considers how Descartes' view of truth can be applied by students to facilitate a fair and transparent election process. Through conceptual analysis and mapping the application of Descartes' ideas, this research explores how students can use the concept of truth to encourage ethical political participation, fight for justice, and minimise uncertainty in the democratic process, especially in the 2024 General Election. This research highlights the important role of students as actors as well as thought leaders who bring positive changes and foster public trust, so that fraud and injustice do not occur in the 2024 Election process in Indonesia

No full textCurrently, Indonesia is entering difficult phases because the Indonesian nation is not only dealing with the storm of the Covid-19 pandemic but also natural disasters. This disaster brought a traumatic experience for the victims. Healing for victims can indeed be done with a psychological approach, but strengthening faith is no less important. Based on this, the focus of research studies is on the role of religious institutions, particularly the Church, in handling victims of natural disasters. The role of the Church is seen in catechesis. In catechesis, the Church teaches the values of the gospel and confirms the faith of the people that the suffering experienced is not a curse from God. During a pandemic, catechetical work can be done by utilizing virtual spaces such as social media content. Social media is a means of proclaiming the faith that is easily accessible by the people. This kind of catechetical and theological method was initiated by Kosuke Koyama. According to Koyama, the right catechesis model must start from the concrete problems of the people. Based on this, this research study uses the literature study method. Literary sources were researched and analyzed so that a catechetical model was found that was appropriate to the social context of the Indonesian people who were being hit by natural disasters

No full textThis study aims to discuss the influence of mass media on the rise of populism. Mass media is essentially a media that puts forward the truth in conveying information. The mass media is here to guide people to the true knowledge and truth about an event or occurrence. However, the reality that is happening in Indonesia is that the mass media often display conflicting information. The mass media often present information for the sake of meeting the interests of certain political groups and actors. As a result, the mass media has become a growing valley for populism in Indonesia. This study uses a literature study on the influence of mass media on the rise of populism. This study finds that the cause of the development of populism is because the mass media do not prioritize objectivity in conveying information and news. The solution offered by this research to minimize this is that the mass media need to return to their authenticity as a media that prioritizes truth and objectivity. In addition, the community needs critical reasoning in consuming various information and the importance of the government\u27s control function in overseeing the ambiguity of news or information presented to the public

Therefore, Christians are invited to be aware of Jesus' command to serve, not to be served. But the character of serving cannot just grow, and it takes a continuous process throughout life. This paper provides a new and simple perspective on how to create a servant leader character starting from oneself. Leadership is a skill in organizing and fostering oneself then the people being led. In this way, the people being led will easily follow the will of the leader. The method used in this research is a conceptual approach. Because good ideas about leadership will create reliable leadership, this thesis is offered in this research so that everyone can develop servant leadership.Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan karakter kepemimpinan yang melayani. Dewasa ini karakter kepemimpinan yang melayani kurang menjadi fokus dalam kehidupan bersama. Karena itu, orang kristiani diajak untuk kembali sadar akan perintah Yesus untuk melayani bukan untuk dilayani. Namun karakter melayani tidak dapat tumbuh begitu saja, diperlukan suatu proses terus-menerus sepanjang hidup. Berdasarkan hal tersebut tulisan ini memberikan suatu sudut pandang yang baru dan sederhana bagaimana menciptakan karakter pemimpin pelayan yang dimulai dari diri sendiri. Kepemimpinan pada dasarnya adalah keterampilan dalam mengatur dan membina diri sendiri kemudian orang yang dipimpin. Dengan cara yang demikian orang yang dipimpin akan dengan mudah mengikuti kehendak sang pemimpin. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan konseptual.
