A simulation model for the potential spread of foot-and-mouth disease in the Castile and Leon region of Spain
No full textA spatial stochastic model was used to simulate the spread of a foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) epidemic in the Castile-and-Leon (CyL) region of Spain. The model was fitted using information available on premises demographics and on assumptions for animal movements, indirect contacts, and airborne exposure. Control measures dictated by Spanish and European Union regulations constituted a reference strategy to which six alternative control strategies were compared. For the reference strategy, the median (95% PI) numbers of infected, depopulated, and quarantined premises were 141 (2–1099), 164 (4–1302), and 334 (31–2059), respectively. Depopulation and vaccination of premises within a radius of <1 km and <3 km, respectively, around infected premises significantly (p-value < 0.001) decreased the number of infected premises, compared to the reference scenario. Results presented here will contribute to the revision, design, and implementation of contingency plans and programs for prevention and control of FMD epidemics in Spain.Fil: Martínez López, B.. A Smartphone-based System for Clinical Gait Assessment
Get PDFPatients with lower limbs problems are an increasing population in the US and many of them require surgery and its subsequent post-op Physical Therapy (PT). For all these patients, tracking their progress and evolution towards full recovery is very important. To assess the patients and track their progress, patients are usually required to perform very specific tests administered by a physical therapist. These tests either require very expensive equipment or rather require the subjective experience of the physical therapist who administer them. One of these tests is the Functional Gait Assessment (FGA) test, perhaps the most widely adopted one for gait assessment.
This thesis presents a system for Clinical Gait Assessment using exclusively the sensors embedded in today’s smartphones. The system processes the raw sensor data to perform the FGA test and calculate additional metrics, capable of identifying problems in the human gait. The system is therefore objective, as it is based on measurements; cheap, as it only requires a smartphone; mobile, as it can be used pretty much anywhere; and self-care, as it does not need the presence of a physical therapist.
The system was designed and tested on the Android OS with the phone attached to the back of the user using a belt or elastic band. It includes a new step detection algorithm with a mean absolute error of ±1 and algorithms to detect the deviation from a straight path with an accuracy of 90%, 80%, 35%, and 30% for each of the required deviation levels of the FGA test. Additionally, the system includes autocorrelation and DTW metrics, which provide additional information to detect different impediments of the user gait
Development of a web interface for submitting jobs to slurm using CGI C++
No full textProtocolos como Shell seguro han sido utilizados comúnmente por los clusters de Linux para permitir a los usuarios enviar trabajos a SLURM. Sin embargo, implica el uso de un emulador de cónsola para establecer la comunicación remota que, en algunos casos, no está disponible. Además de esto implica también que los usuarios usen comandos y editores de texto basados en cónsola que para áreas no relacionadas con computación puede ser algo desafiante y tedioso. Por lo tanto, este documento presenta el desarrollo de la API Web Submit SLURM, que ofrece una interfaz web rápida y segura para enviar trabajos a SLURM usando un formulario web sencillo o el envío de trabajos usando un scrip shell. La API también cuenta con un diseño adaptativo que permite que sea compatible con la mayoría de los navegadores y dispositivos independientemente del tamaño de la pantalla. La implementación se realizó haciendo que la API sea escalable tanto en el tamaño del cluster y versiones y tipo del software necesario haciendo una instalación simple y altamente compatible. Los tiempos de ejecución usando el protocolo SSH y la API propuesta fueron calculados en el envío de 10 segundos trabajos mostrando una diferencia de 0.013 lo cual no degrada la experiencia final del usuario y mostrando la eficacia de la API propuesta.PregradoIngeniero de SistemasProtocols such as Secure Shell have been commonly used by Linux clusters to allow users sending the jobs to SLURM. However, it implies the use of a console emulator to establish the remote communication which, in some cases, is not available. in the same way implies that users use commands and text editors based on console that for areas not related to computing can be challenging and tedious. Therefore, this document presents the development of the API (Application programming interface.) Web Submit SLURM (Simple Linux Utility for Resource Management), which offers a fast and secure web interface for submitting jobs to SLURM using a simple web form or sending jobs using a scrip shell. The API also has a responsive design that allows it to be compatible with most browsers and devices regardless of screen size. The implementation is done by making the API scalable in cluster size and versions and type of software needed by making a simple and highly compatible installation. The execution times using the SSH protocol and the proposed API were calculated in the submission of 10 jobs showing a difference of 0.013 seconds which does not degrade the final user experience and showing the effectiveness of the proposed API

Teniendo en cuenta que las empresas necesitan adoptar procedimientos claros de inducción y entrenamiento que conduzcan al éxito de las mismas mediante los planes y programas adoptados para que entre cada uno de los nuevos trabajadores y la empresa exista una cohesión desde el mismo momento del ingreso, para esto se diseñan hojas de ruta que |colocan al nuevo empleado en el contexto empresarial en donde se va a desempeñar algunas veces de manera presencial, otras por medio de cartillas y otras por medio de las tecnologías de la información con temas tales como la misionalidad de la empresa, la visión, los calores corporativos, el organigrama, aspectos como la seguridad y salud en el trabajo, las remuneraciones, los compañeros de trabajo, el ambiente laboral, los beneficios de trabajar en la misma, entre otros.
Gracias a este estudio se logró analizar la actual situación de SERVICIOS ETIWAN SAS y los resultados no fueron los mejores ya que se encontraron muchas falencias con respecto a la manera como la empresa desarrolla sus procesos de inducción, entrenamiento y espacios de capacitación, determinando que son deficientes y en algunos casos totalmente nulos, sin embargo se realizaron algunas recomendaciones que esperamos sean tenidas en cuenta por la empresa en aras de que se pueda elaborar un programa de inducción y entrenamiento adaptado a esta empresa de transporte y así sus nuevos trabajadores cuenten con las competencias necesarias para desempeñarse y adaptarse al nuevo entorno de trabajo.Next, this document is presented to the reader, which develops some principles of staff “onboarding”. Thanks to this develop, it was possible to analyze the current situation of SERVICIOS ETIWAN SAS and the results were not the best since many shortcomings were found with respect to the way the company develops its induction processes, training and training spaces, determining that they are deficient and in some cases totally null, however some recommendations were made that we hope will be taken into account by the company in order to develop an induction and training program adapted to this transport company and thus its new workers have the necessary skills necessary to perform and adapt to the new work environment

No full textEl 50% de la población en Colombia consume alcohol siendo menor de edad, lo cual genera consecuencias como peleas, accidentes automovilísticos e incluso la muerte. Conociendo que el alcohol también perjudica las zonas del cerebro responsables de la memoria y del aprendizaje. De aquí surge el proyecto, Te lo agradezco pero paso, con el objetivo de Diseñar una experiencia de aprendizaje para adolescentes de edad media entre 14 y 17 años alrededor del consumo responsable de bebidas alcohólicas y las consecuencias que trae realizar esta práctica de forma inadecuada, disminuyendo la visión negativa y los tabúes existentes en la actualidad frente a este tema, esto se logra con base a las metodologías de aprendizaje cooperativo y aprendizaje basado en problemas. En esta experiencia, la cual está dividida en tres etapas, donde la primera es sensibilización sobre el consumo de alcohol, la segunda etapa los adolescentes están inmersos en el efecto placebo de las bebidas alcohólicas comunes como, el aguardiente, vodka, tequila etc, cada adolescente confrontar y apreciará las decisiones tomadas bajo este efecto en el momento de entrar al mundo de las bebidas alcohólicas, a través de la estimulación de los sentidos que se generan con las ilusiones ópticas y de movimiento, para la última etapa la cual se genera a manera de acompañamiento y así mismo reflexionar frente al tema. Con el fin de acercarlos a cada decisión que toman en situaciones de ocio en la vida real. Para sustentar que el diseño funcionaba se realizaron comprobaciones de las cuales salieron decisiones de diseño que hicieron crecer el proyecto.Jóvenes adolecentesIt is a reality that 50% of Colombia´s population consume alcohol from a very early age, even being teenagers. This generates consequences such as fights, car accidents and even deaths, besides alcohol also damages the areas of the brain responsible for memory and learning.
This is where our project comes from, ¨Thanks for the Offer but I´m not Willing to Accept¨ (In Spanish: ¨Te lo Agradezco pero Paso¨), with the aim of designing a learning experience for middle-aged teenagers between 14 and 17 years old, around the responsible consumption of alcoholic beverages and the consequences of this practice in an inappropriate way. This project is achieved based on cooperative learning and problem-based learning methodologies.
In this experience, which is divided into three stages, teenagers will confront and assume the decisions made under alcoholic beverages, through the stimulation of the senses that will be processed with the optical and movement illusions.
The three stages of this experience are:
The teenager get to be aware about alcohol consumption.
In the second stage adolescents are immersed in the placebo effect of common alcoholic beverages such as, brandy, vodka, tequila, etc.
The last stage is generated as a way of accompaniment and reflection on the subject.

En el panorama empresarial contemporáneo, la gestión eficiente de inventarios es crucial para un crecimiento sostenido. Rostros Cosméticos S.A.S., una distribuidora de productos de belleza fundada en 2018, se enfrenta a desafíos con la gestión manual de inventarios a pesar de contar con un inventario bien surtido.
Este trabajo propone una herramienta de oficina que optimiza el control de inventarios, ofreciendo acceso fácil y métricas esenciales. La herramienta tiene como objetivo actualizar el método de gestión de inventarios, proporcionando seguimiento en tiempo real, reduciendo errores y mejorando la eficiencia operativa. A través de un diagnóstico detallado, se revela el estado actual de la gestión de inventarios en Rostros Cosméticos S.A.S., mostrando las desventajas de los procesos manuales, como la pérdida de información, pedidos demorados e inexactos, déficits de productos y la insatisfacción del cliente.
La herramienta implementada, utilizando Excel, categoriza y codifica productos, creando un sistema interno de codificación alfanumérica. Este enfoque sistemático resulta en un mejor control de inventarios, facilitando una vista integral de los movimientos de productos y contribuyendo a un sistema de gestión de inventarios más organizado para la empresa. Propuesta de un marco de referencia para fomentar las habilidades suaves en la enseñanza del paradigma de Desarrollo Global de Software a nivel licenciatura
Get PDFHoy en día es común que las empresas de desarrollo de software utilicen la subcontratación de personal para abaratar los costos de desarrollo, contratando programadores en países donde el salario mínimo es menor, pero arriesgando posiblemente, y como consecuencia, la calidad del producto final. Esta forma de desarrollar el software ha sido denominada “Desarrollo Global de Software” (GSD, por sus siglas en inglés) y ha introducido beneficios importantes a la industria actual, principalmente el abaratamiento de costos de desarrollo, la unión de diferentes ideas y culturas, entre otros. No obstante, el paradigma del GSD se encuentra en constante evolución, por lo que aún se reportan diversos problemas y retos relacionados con las distancias geográfica, temporal y cultural a las que se enfrenta este enfoque.
En este contexto, la enseñanza del GSD en las universidades es considerada una alternativa importante para alcanzar sus beneficios. Por tal motivo, en esta tesis se presenta un marco de referencia que establece los lineamientos técnico-metodológicos para llevar a cabo un curso de GSD a nivel licenciatura, que permita a los estudiantes obtener experiencia práctica acerca del enfoque y, al mismo tiempo, les ayude a mejorar sus habilidades de comunicación y trabajo en equipo. Además, se presenta una plataforma computacional llamada Cadxela GSD (o Descubre GSD, en su traducción de Zapoteco a Español) que permite llevar a la práctica los lineamientos del marco dereferencia.
La plataforma y el marco de referencia fueron evaluados a través de la ejecución de un caso de estudio que contó con la participación de 20 estudiantes y 5 profesores de 5 universidades distintas, quienes llevaron a cabo un curso de GSD, en donde se impartieron los conceptos teóricos del enfoque y después se desarrollaron tres rondas de proyectos prácticos. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron que, a través de la ejecución práctica de los proyectos, los estudiantes mejoraron sus habilidades de comunicación y trabajo en equipo. Así mismo, los estudiantes mejoraron su conocimiento acerca del GSD y se sintieron motivados y satisfechos con su desempeño. Finalmente, la plataforma fue considerada, por los profesores participantes, como una herramienta útil en la enseñanza del GSD

To this end, the two priest figures (Luis Gonzaga Sudre and Father Paoletti) who play roles of certain import in the novel have been analysed, considering the manner in which they have been characterized, their participation in the plot events and dialogues, and their relationships with, and influence on, other characters; in other words, all textual references which might in any way help to clarify the ideological function performed in the novel by these two ecclesiastical figures have been carefully considered.
