    No full text
Heating conditions of Pinus halepensis seed oil were monitored to evaluate the effect of thermo-oxidation processes on the bioactive compounds contained in the samples. The following parameters were monitored: ultra violet absorption at 232 and 270 nm, fatty acid composition, oxidative stability, antiradical activity and aromatic profiles. Under thermo-oxidation process, trans fatty acids (TFA) increased and conjugated linoleic acid isomers appeared. The antiradical activity significantly decreased from 73.3% to 52.5% after 120 min of heating. Oxidative stability decreased (r = 0.70). The volatile profile was heavily influenced by heating with the formation of new volatile compounds, such as the two isomers (E,Z)-2,4-decadienal and (E,E)-2,4-decadienal. a-pinene, and the main terpene compound was very vulnerable to heating conditions. Despite its peculiar pleasant aroma and nutritional value, the P. halepensis seed oil should not be used for cooking. Indeed, under frying conditions, its antioxidant properties and oxidative stability are lost and potential toxic compounds, such as TFA and unsaturated aldehydes, are forme

Oxidative evolution of virgin and flavored olive oils under thermo-oxidation processes

Changes in the oxidative status of Chetoui olive oil were monitored to attest the efficiency of some bioactive compounds from aromatic plants to improve the stability of olive oils after a maceration process at different concentrations. Aromatized olive oils were prepared by addition of lemon and thyme extracts at four different concentrations (20–80 g kg-1 of oils) to virgin olive oils. The following parameters were monitored: free fatty acids, peroxide value, ultra violet absorption characteristics at 232 and 270 nm, fatty acid composition and aromatic profiles. After thermo-oxidation processes, the oleic/linoleic acid ratio remained stable (4.5). Oxidative stability slightly decreased during thermo-oxidation processes. The heating of the oils changed their volatile profile and led to the formation of new volatile compounds, such as the two isomers of 2,4-heptadienal after heating at 100°C or (E,Z)-2,4-decadienal and (E,E)-2,4-decadienal after thermo-oxidation at 200°C. The use of lemon and thyme extracts modified the aromatic and the nutritional value of the olive oil by the transfer of some bioactive compounds, such as limonene and carvacrol. In contrast, the oxidative stability of the product did not change. Furthermore, the aromatized oils may be employed in seasoning and cooking of some food

    No full text
Based upon a vision of exile as a traumatic experience, this thesis offers an in-depth analysis of the memoirs of the Jewish Egyptian author Lucette Lagnado and the Jewish Polish writer Anzia Yezierska. Theories of psychological trauma are used in order to demonstrate how these memoirists’ experiences have been embodied in historical and contemporary discourse. In the first chapter we study the reasons behind the exilic experience of each writer. Relying on exile theory conceptualized by Sophia McClellan, this first chapter deals with the spatial, temporal, and linguistic crises caused by the trauma of exile. The second chapter focuses on ethnic identity construction and how women writers conceptualize ethnic identity through their writings. The last chapter deals with the healing methods that the memoirists used in order to overcome the trauma of exile, be it on the personal or communal levelÀ partir d'une vision de l'exil comme expérience traumatisante, cette thèse propose une analyse approfondie des mémoires de l'auteure juive égyptienne, Lucette Lagnado et de l’écrivaine juive polonaise, Anzia Yezierska.

Panda DP, Issaoui R, Iqbal Z, et al. DMSO-Free Tin Halide Perovskites for Indoor Photovoltaics. ACS Energy Letters . 2025.Indoor photovoltaic (IPV) technology has emerged as an effective strategy to sustainably power batteryless Internet of Things (IoT) devices. Though tin perovskite solar cells offer competitive IPV performance, their effectiveness is often compromised by Sn2+ oxidation, particularly when processed with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solvent. This work explored the IPV performance of DMSO-free tin perovskites FASnI3-x Br x by tuning the halide composition. Notably, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirms no traces of Sn4+, highlighting the critical role of eliminating DMSO. Under 1000 lx indoor illumination, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) increases with Br content, reaching a maximum of 11.1% for FASnI2Br without introducing any reducing agent. Remarkably, after six months of storage, it exhibited an impressive indoor PCE of 11.9%, demonstrating the effectiveness of the DMSO-free processing route for the intrinsic stability of the tin perovskite. These findings provide crucial insights for developing high-performance, lead-free perovskite materials for sustainable energy applications and IoT devices

Assembly of two new hybrid chloride materials with potential NLO properties: Structure elucidation, empirical and computational studies

International audienceThis paper deals with the crystal structure of two new non-centrosymmetric hybrid compounds obtained from an aqueous solution by slow evaporation method and characterized by various techniques mainly single-crystal X-ray diffraction. In the atomic arrangement of 2-methylbenzylammonium chloride (1), the organic cations and the chloride anions are linked to each other via N-H horizontal ellipsis Cl hydrogen bonds; organic cations in zigzag distribution along b-axis in z = 0 and z = 1/2 are also close enough to enable a C-H horizontal ellipsis pi interaction to occur. In 3-methylbenzylammonium chloride (2), the organic cations are linked together by C-H horizontal ellipsis pi interactions and through N-H horizontal ellipsis Cl and C-H horizontal ellipsis Cl hydrogen bonds to form a two-dimensional network. To support experimental results, DFT calculations have been accomplished via the B3LYP method and 6-311++G(d,p) basis set on molecular geometry, vibrational, and electronic properties. The non-covalent interactions were studied quantitatively using the Hirshfeld surfaces (HS) associated with 2D fingerprint plots. The NLO properties have been also investigated by DFT and compared to the urea reference
