STUDIES ON THE FORMULATION, PHYSICAL STABILITY, AND IN VITRO ANTIBACTERIAL ACTIVITY OF TEA TREE OIL (MELALEUCA ALTERNIFOLIA) NANOEMULSION GEL
Objective: This study aimed to formulate tea tree oil into a nanoemulsion gel dosage form and evaluate its physical stability and antibacterial activity. Methods: Nanoemulsion gels were formulated with various concentrations of tea tree oil, namely, 5%, 7%, and 9%, using Tween-80 as a surfactantand propylene glycol as a cosurfactant. The tea tree oil nanoemulsion gels showed a stable physical appearance over 8 weeks of storage at lowtemperature (4±2°C) and room temperature (25±2°C), cycling test, and centrifugation test. Results: The best formula was nanoemulsion gel formulation 1 (F1), which contained 5% tea tree oil, due to its good stability, smaller globule size, and greater viscosity. The results for antibacterial activity, determined by in vitro study, showed that the tea tree oil nanoemulsion gels exhibitedantibacterial activity against Propionibacterium acnes through the formation of an inhibition zone. Conclusion: Higher concentrations of tea tree oil in nanoemulsion gels (5%, 7%, and 9%) showed greater mean inhibition zones (28.33±0.88 mm,30.33±0.33 mm, and 31.67±0.33 mm, respectively).</jats:p

Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method as Key for Effective Teaching and Learning: The Development and Impact on Mechanical Engineering Students’ Adaptive Capacity, Decision Making, Problem Solving and Creativity Skills
Educators must conduct assessments in their learning; it determines students’ weaknesses in the teaching material they follow during learning. Unfortunately, the implementation of assessment by educators was not optimal, and the weakness was that the existing assessment method was only fixated on assessing students without providing feedback on the assessment. At the same time, this feedback was essential for students in learning, which can help learners assess performances that cannot be seen and felt by themselves, as well as a tool to motivate students, notification or information, and reinforcement. Therefore, this research aimed to develop a Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method for learning assessment. The method used in this research was Research and Development (R&D). After development, the Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method for learning assessment will be implemented to see its effect on students’ adaptive capacity, decision-making, problem-solving, and creativity skills. Independent sample t-test and linear regression analysis were used as data analysis techniques describing the impact of the assessment on those skills. The results showed that the Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method has five stages: preparing the assessment material, diagnostic assessment, assessment for learning, assessment of learning, and reflection. It effectively affects students’ skills, such as adaptive capacity, decision-making, problem-solving, and creativity. It can be concluded that the Constructivist Feedback-Based Assessment Method can improve students’ adaptive capacity, decision-making, problem-solving, and creativity. Novelty in this research was the existence of constructivism integrated into feedback-based assessment, which the existing assessment has not highlighted the constructivist side of assessment
Analysis of Coir Fiber/Wood Paint as Composite Anti-Weathering Coatings on Traditional Fishing Boats
The low resistance of wood as a frame material for traditional fishing boats against splashing sea water, humidity, and high-temperature fluctuations was studied in this study by adding coconut coir fiber to wood paint, where this mixture will become an anti-weathering composite material. To make compatibility between the fibers from coir which are water-absorbing (hydrophilic) and alkyd paints which are water-repellent (hydrophobic), the author gives special treatment to the coco fibers through an acetone pre-treatment process and hot alkali (hot alkali treatment) by soaking fiber in 10% high-temperature sodium hydroxide NaOH solution. Soaking in this solution is able to modify fibers that have a rough surface and reduce hydrogen bonding thereby improving the interfacial bond between the fiber and the filler in the composite. The results obtained were that the addition of fiber with a weight fraction of 3.40% to the alkyd paint matrix made the composite the most optimal anti-weathering coating
Revolutionizing learning: Unleashing the power of technology gamification-augmented reality in vocational education
This study explores innovative approaches
to enhance vocational education by employing
Gamification and Augmented Reality (GAR) in
problem-based learning. Utilizing the Borg and Gall
development model with a pre-post-experiment design,
vocational students constitute the primary subjects.
The experimental group experiences Problem-Case
teaching enriched with GAR, while the control group
relies on traditional learning media. Results indicate a
positive impact on student engagement and motivation
in the experimental group, attributed to gamification
elements and augmented reality. Gamification
components, including points and challenges,
incentivize active student participation. Augmented
reality promotes engaging learning activities and
nurtures imaginative and analytical thinking skills.
This research enhances understanding of vocational
education and proposes a comprehensive learning
approach using sustainable gamification and
augmented reality technology for industry
