Testing approaches for global optimization of space trajectories
In this paper the procedures to test global search algorithms applied to
space trajectory design problems are discussed. Furthermore, a number
of performance indexes that can be used to evaluate the effectiveness of
the tested algorithms are presented. The performance indexes are then
compared and the actual significance of each one of them is highlighted.

From this analysis we derive a novel interpretation of some evolutionary heuristics, based on dynamical system theory and we significantly improve the performance of one of the tested algorithms

The correlation between the functional state of the neurocytes of hypothalamic nuclei and pituitary adenocytes was calculated. There was a change in the correlation towards an increase or a decrease, which was accompanied by the change in its direction. These changes were a manifestation of the body’s adaptation to new living conditions, i.e. disease. They reflect the stimulating effect of regulatory centers on the respective organs and systems, the immune system in particular. Morphofunctional discoordination in the relationships within the hypothalamic-pituitary system may be regarded as a component of the pathogenesis of tuberculosis.Вычислена корреляция между средним объемом кариона нейроцитов гипоталамических ядер и аденоцитов гипофиза. Обнаружено изменение корреляции как в сторону усиления, так и в сторону ослабления, что сопровождается изменением ее направленности. Данные изменения представляют собой проявление адаптации организма к новым условиям существования, т. е. к болезни. Они отражают стимулирующее воздействие регуляторных центров на соответствующие органы и системы, в частности на иммунную систему. Морфофункциональная дискоординация во взаимосвязях внутри гипоталамо-гипофизарной системы может быть расценена в качестве составной части патогенеза туберкулеза

Arcabouço de PLLA/HAP sinterizado, com potencial de utilização em regeneração de tecido ósseo

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Ciência e Engenharia de Materiais.Alguns arcabouços (scaffolds) são fabricados usando polímeros como os poliésteres que podem ser biodegradáveis e biorreabsorvíveis. Para se obter melhores propriedades mecânicas, arcabouços têm sido fabricados utilizando-se uma mistura de polímero e cerâmica. Um parâmetro importante em engenharia de tecido ósseo é porosidade e a interconectividade entre os poros. Nesse trabalho, o método de sinterização foi testado utilizando-se o compósito a base de poli(L-ácido láctico) e hidroxiapatita para obtenção de arcabouços porosos. A caracterização foi realizada utilizando-se microscopia eletrônica de varredura, análise de porosidade e teste de resistência à compressão. Utilizou-se para o PLLA duas faixas granulométricas, 106-212 e 212-300 µm. Para a hidroxiapatita foram utilizadas partículas nanométricas e fibras com razão de aspecto próximo a 40. As concentrações mássicas utilizadas para o compósito PLLA/Hap variaram nas proporções de 90/10, 80/20, 70/30%. A partir da combinação dessas variáveis, constituiu-se um grupo de estudo contendo 12 combinações diferentes. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que as amostras que utilizaram fibras de hidroxiapatita apresentaram tempo de programação isotérmica aproximadamente 4 vezes menor do que as amostras que utilizaram partículas. Esse tempo aumentou em função do aumento do tamanho de partícula polimérica devido à redução da energia de superfície e mobilidade atômica das partículas, e em função do aumento da concentração de hidroxiapatita, que atuou como barreira mecânica dificultando o processo de sinterização. Os resultados obtidos mostraram que é possível controlar o processo de sinterização para obtenção de matrizes tridimensionais. Foram obtidas amostras com poros interconectados, tamanho de poro variando entre 150 e 350 µm e porosidade entre 48 e 61%, sendo que as formulações que utilizaram partículas apresentaram maior porosidade. A resistência mecânica média variou entre 1,7 e 12MPa, valores semelhantes ao do osso trabecular, que varia entre 2 e 12MPa
MGA trajectory planning with an ACO-inspired algorithm
Given a set of celestial bodies, the problem of finding an optimal sequence of gravity assist manoeuvres, deep space manoeuvres (DSM) and transfer arcs connecting two or more bodies in the set is combinatorial in nature. The number of possible paths grows exponentially with the number of celestial bodies. Therefore, the design of an optimal multiple gravity assist (MGA) trajectory is a NP-hard mixed combinatorial-continuous problem, and its automated solution would greatly improve the assessment of multiple alternative mission options in a shorter time. This work proposes to formulate the complete automated design of a multiple gravity assist trajectory as an autonomous planning and scheduling problem. The resulting scheduled plan will provide the planetary sequence for a multiple gravity assist trajectory and a good estimation of the optimality of the associated trajectories. We propose the use of a two-dimensional trajectory model in which pairs of celestial bodies are connected by transfer arcs containing one DSM. The problem of matching the position of the planet at the time of arrival is solved by varying the pericentre of the preceding swing-by, or the magnitude of the launch excess velocity, for the first arc. By using this model, for each departure date we can generate a full tree of possible transfers from departure to destination. Each leaf of the tree represents a planetary encounter and a possible way to reach that planet. An algorithm inspired by Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) is devised to explore the space of possible plans. The ants explore the tree from departure to destination adding one node at the time: every time an ant is at a node, a probability function is used to select one of the remaining feasible directions. This approach to automatic trajectory planning is applied to the design of optimal transfers to Saturn and among the Galilean moons of Jupiter, and solutions are compared to those found through traditional genetic-algorithm-based techniques
