The Systematic Implications of the Hijri Calendar in the Caliph Umar bin Khattab’s Period for the Present
This article explains the origin of the history of the preparation of the Hijri calendar calendar system during the Caliph Umar bin Khattab. This preparation was initiated by Umar bin Khattab when he received a letter of letter sent by Abu Musa Al-Ash\u27ari regarding time, in this case the month and year of writing his letter. The author uses a qualitative method with a historical approach based on library research by collecting data from primary sources, namely from the book of al-Muntazham fi dating al-muluk wa al-umban and secondary sources analyzed and then verified to obey a historical event to be easily understood. In his journey to formulate a calendar, Umar bin Khattab encountered many differences of opinion among friends. The considerations made by Umar bin Khattab are not solely for personal interests, but for the interests of the people. Therefore, the systematic calendar of Hijri is a way of synifying God\u27s religio
Effect of Resource Factors and Quality of Instruction on Performance in Mathematics of Nigeria Secondary School Students
It seems that Nigeria's educational system has been undergoing improvement only on quantitative when it comes to the number of enrolments in students and schools. However, little effort has been put in place in terms of capacity (physical and material resources, human and financial resources) to manage high enrollment. Resources capacity in secondary schools was nothing to write home about. Most of these resources in secondary school were dilapidated. To worsen the scenario, the scarce resources allocated to these schools are grossly inadequate compared to students' enrollment and come late to the end-users in the public secondary schools. The various stakeholders in the education sector express stern concern about the consistently poor performance of students in secondary schools, especially in mathematics. Since secondary school education is expected to be free by the government, coupled with population increase, it is reasonable for people to take advantage of the free education program. Although the government and private sector of education keep providing qualified teaching staff and non-teaching staff, students in secondary schools still face poor performance in mathematics. The effect of all these on the academic performance in Nigeria's mathematics secondary school students concerns researchers of this empirical work. It is based on these issues and many more that this work sought to empirically investigate the impact of resource factors and quality of instruction on the performance of Nigeria secondary school students in mathematics
Cataloged from PDF version of article.Includes bibliographical references (leaves 53-62)The static electricity that is generated when two identical or different materials come in contact with each other and separated is a well known physical phenomenon that has been studied for over 25 centuries. Contact charging occurs in technological and natural aspects of our everyday life. Generation of lightning and the feeling of unexpected shocks on dry days are excellent examples of naturally occurring phenomenon, while in technology it is used for photocopying and laser printing. Owing to the increase in energy consumption around the globe and demand for carbon emissions free energy sources, the triboelectric effect has recently being utilized as an e ffective means of harvesting mechanical energy and converting it into electricity for novel applications like powering portable electronic devices and self powered active sensing. Despite the fact that it has been known and applied for many years, the fundamental mechanism of contact electrification is still not fully understood. This study proposes a mechanism for triggering such triboelectric charge based on polymer-polymer and metal-polymer interactions. Conventionally, the mechanism of electrostatic charge generation is being presumed as a process giving rise to a combination of positive (arising from contact) and negative (arising from separation) charges in every single contact and separation. However, in our mechanism we propose a concept that shows combination of both positive and negative charges as \contact" and either positive or negative charge, depending on the initial contact-charge polarity of the material (due to surface charge mosaic), as \separation" charge. Different kinds of polymers like polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), polytetra uoroethylene (PTFE), Polyethersulfone (PES) and polypropene (PP) were used in this study and similar characteristic was observed for all of the polymers. Thus, our perception of the working principle of triboelectri cation between two dielectric materials or a metal and a dielectric material is consistent and potentially vital in comprehending some unresolved controversies on triboelectricity.by Umar Gishiwa Musa
STUDY ON THE EFFECTIVENESS OF BANANA STEM PITH (Musa paradisiaca) AS A NATURAL ANESTHETIC IN THE WET TRANSPORTATION OF WHITE SEABASS (Lates calcarifer) JUVENILE
Live fish transportation can induce physiological stress, characterized by increased blood glucose levels and decreased survival rates. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of banana pseudostem extract (Musa paradisiaca) as a natural anesthetic for the wet transport of Asian seabass (Lates calcarifer) fry. Observed parameters include induction time, sedative time, blood glucose levels, fish survival, and water quality. The results showed that treatment P3 exhibited the best balance, with an induction time of 10.5 minutes, sedative time of 7 minutes, blood glucose levels of 140 mg/dL, and a survival rate of 90%. Increased ammonia levels were observed after transport, particularly in P5 (0.034 mg/L), while P3 had a lower NH₃ level (0.010 mg/L), indicating better water conditions. Banana pseudostem extract was proven effective as a natural anesthetic in reducing fish stress during transport, with P3 as the optimal treatment

The manuscript owner is a graduate of University of Maiduguri, and has a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics. He said that his interest in Kanuri Ajami is what motivates him to develop a collection of Kanuri Ajami texts. He works for the Borno State government, and maintains his interest in Ajami, especially Kanuri. Alhaji Bashir has extensive Islamic knowledge. This is a small ten-page manuscript in Arabic and Kanuri Ajami titled “ʿAqidā al-Awwam” written in a poetic style. It is a typical classic Islamic jurisprudence instructional document written from the Mālikī school perspective. As with many similar documents, the manuscript begins with praising Allāh followed by a tribute to Prophet Muḥammad, and then delves into the subject matter: a detailed description of Allāh’s characteristics. The manuscript also talks about the many messengers of God, dwelling on the last and final one (Prophet Muḥammad). As part of the discussion on Prophet Muḥammad, the writer also talks about his companions, celebrating them. Kanuri Ajami is used in the glosses. The first date of publication is given (2012CE/1433 AH). The owner, Umar, is a madrasa teacher, who uses the manuscript as instructional material. He said that he teaches three categories of students (students, married women, and adult males) and that he uses the same text for all his students. This manuscript is the Arabic version of Qawā’id al-Ṣalāt with extensive glosses in Kanuri Ajami. The text is popular and it is generally among the very first books that students in madrasa and the traditional Tsangaya schools study. Though, its title suggests ritual prayers, it first addresses the preliminary rituals of ablution, required ritual showers, and then ritual prayers, which is the major subject matter of the rest of the manuscript. The glosses are smaller in font compared to the main Arabic text. The last part of the manuscript deals with monotheism and explains the attributes of Allāh. It concludes with a supplication that is recited in the last segment of ritual prayers. In so doing, the writer illustrates the importance of Islamic ritual prayers and shows his style of writing: starting out with a strong introduction, then logically presenting the sequences of rituals involved in obligatory daily prayers, and concluding with prayers. The manuscript has 15 pages and is a complete unbound copy. It has no signs of damage. It is undated but has page numbers. The contents of this collection were developed with support of the Title VI National Resource Center grant # P015A180164 from the U.S. Department of Education. SOSOK UMAR BIN KHAṬṬAB DAN LATAR BELAKANG LAHIRNYA RISALAH AL-QAḌĀ
One of the Muslim caliphs was Umar bin Khattab. In his time, judicial power began to be separated from the executive power. Even the governance of the judiciary has been set up, among others by imprisoning and appointing a number of judges to resolve disputes between members of the community. One form of coaching by the Caliph Umar bin Khaṭṭab to the judges in performing judicial duties is to send letters containing instructions and guidelines to the judges. One of the judges who had been sent a letter related to the administration of justice was Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari who served as a judge in Basra. The letter is known as the message of al-Qaḍā, which is in relation to the existence and position of the judiciary; court decisions must be exercised, principle of objectivity, proof / oath, peace, review, basis / source of law and interpretation of law, witness credibility
