pi(+/-), K-+/-, p and (p)over-bar production in Z(0)-> q(q)over-bar, Z(0)-> b(b)over-bar, Z(0)-> u(u)over-bar,d(d)over-bar,s(s)over-bar
The DELPHI experiment at LEP uses Ring Imaging Cherenkov detectors for particle identification. The good understanding of the RICH detectors allows the identification of charged pions, kaons and protons, covering the full momentum range from 0.7 < p < 45.6 GeV/c. The pi(+/-), K+/-, p and (p) over bar normalised production rates, their differential cross sections, multiplicities and the maxima xi(p)* of the xi(p) = In(1/X-p) distributions are measured for three event samples Z(0) –> q (q) over bar, Z(0) –> b (b) over bar, Z(0) –> u (u) over bar, d (d) over bar, s (s) over bar, selected from similar to 1400000 Z(0) decays collected by DELPHI in 1994. The results are compared to the predictions of the JETSET string fragmentation model and the HERWIG cluster fragmentation model. The Modified Leading Logarithm Approximation with Local Parton-Hadron Duality is tested. The xi(p)* dependence on the primary quark flavour is investigated and quantified for the different particle distributions. The pi(+/-), K+/-, p and (p) over bar multiplicities are measured with precisions from +/-4% to +/-6%. For the Z(0) –> q (q) over bar, and Z(0) –> b (b) over bar, event samples, these improve on previous measurements. The pi(+/-), K+/-, p and (p) over bar multiplicities for Z(0) –> u (u) over bar, d (s) over bar, s (s) over bar are presented for the first time
Search for R-parity violation with a anti-U anti-D anti-D coupling at x**(1/2) = 189-GeV
Searches for pair production of gauginos and squarks in e(+)e(- ) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 189 GeV have been performed on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 158 pb(-1) collected by the DELPHI detector at LEP. The data were analyzed under the assumption of non-conservation of R- parity through a single dominant (U) over bar(D) over bar(D) over bar coupling between squarks and quarks. Typical final states contain between 4 and 10 jets with or without additional leptons. No excess of data above Standard Model expectations was observed. The results were used to constrain domains of the MSSM parameter space and derive limits on the masses of supersymmetric particles. The following mass limits at 95% CL were obtained from these searches: neutralino mass: m([([chi])over tilde]1)(0) greater than or equal to 32 GeV; chargino mass: m([([chi])over tilde]1)(+) greater than or equal to 94 GeV; stop and sboctom mass (indirect decay) with DeltaM gt 5 GeV: m((t) over tilde1) greater than or equal to 74 GeV for Phi (mix) = 0 rad, m((t) over tilde1) greater than or equal to 59 GeV for Phi (mix) = 0.98 rad, m((b) over tilde1) greater than or equal to 72 GeV for Phi (mix) = 0 rad. The angle phi (mix) is the mixing angle between left and right handed quarks

Determination of |V(ub)| / |V(cb)| with DELPHI at LEP
The ratio of the CKM quark-mixing matrix elements \V-ub\/\V-cb\ has been measured using B hadron semileptonic decays. The analysis uses the reconstructed mass M-X of the secondary hadronic system produced in association with an identified lepton. Since B → X(u)l (v) over bar transitions are characterised by hadronic masses below those of the D mesons produced in B → X(c)l (v) over bar transitions, events with a reconstructed value of M-X significantly below the D mass are selected. Further signal enrichments are obtained using the topology of reconstructed decays and hadron identification. A fit to the numbers of decays in the b → u enriched and depleted samples with M-X above and below 1.6 GeV/c(2) and to the shapes of the lepton energy distribution in the B rest frame gives \V-ub\/\V-cb\ = 0.103 (+0.011)(-0.012) (stat.) +/- 0.016(syst.) +/- 0.010(model) and, correspondingly, a charmless semileptonic B decay branching fraction of BR(B → X(u)l (v) over bar)= (1.57 +/- 0.35 (stat.) +/- 0.48(syst.) +/- 0.27(model)) x 10(-3)

The \xipst dependence on the primary quark flavour is investigated and quantified for the different particle distributions. The \pipm, \kapm, p and \pbar multiplicities are measured with precisions from \%~to~\%. For the \zqqbar and \zbbbar event samples, these improve on previous measurements. Study of rare b decays with the DELPHI detector at LEP
Rare decays of beauty particles were studied in several charmless modes using the data collected with the DELPHI detector at LEP from 1991 to 1994. These decays are mediated by both tree level and one-loop penguin , transitions. Evidence for charmless decays was obtained in two body hadronic modes. The branching ratios of to or and to or were found to be and respectively. The fraction of these decays with a charged kaon in the final state that is not from the spectator quark, was measured to be . Upper limits were set at 90\% confidence level on the branching ratios %for other two body modes including the decay and for three and four body charmless hadronic decays in the range of \mbox{}, for inclusive radiative decays at , for the exclusive radiative decays and at and respectively, and for dineutrino decays, , in the exclusive channels and at 1.0 10 and 5.4 10 respectively. The limits on dineutrino decays constrain theories with a new gauge boson coupling predominantly to the third family of fermions
