THE CASE OF THE EARLY POETRY
The creation of poetry works for poets is by given the freedom to use the language (licencia poeitica). However, the freedom to use language can be interpreted for people who are already proficient in the rules and meaning of language. For beginner poets the use of poetic lyses is sometimes inappropriate. Instead, they tend to display their inability to use language. This is what the authors found in the poetry anthology of the beginner writers who became the main background in this study. This is a qualitative research and used purposive sampling. This research took the object of 650 poems from 91 writers who were compiled in 7 anthologies of poetry writing to see the case found in their poems as an illustration of the misunderstanding of poetry creation. The data collection techniques used in this study was observation and document study. The writer used Spiral Model data analysis techniques for this research. The results of this research found that a) the meaning transparency or message b) language rules such as the use of capital letters with punctuation c) unity of ideas in the verse d) consideration of building typography e) beheadings
Determining Factors of Indonesian Coffee Demand in the US Market: Using LA/AIDS Approach
Indonesia has long been the largest coffee producer and exporter in the world. However, competing Asian countries, namely Vietnam and India, dominate the world coffee trade as ranked fourth and sixth. To face increasingly competitive market conditions, it is necessary to look at the determinants of demand for Indonesian coffee and its competition. This research provides an update using the LA/AIDS (Linear Approximate Almost Demand System) model approach to explore the factors that influence demand for coffee from Indonesia, Vietnam, and India, focusing on price elasticity and coffee expenditure elasticity in the US market. The data is time series data from 1992-2021 and the US market as the destination country. The results show that the factors influencing demand for Indonesian coffee in the US are expenditure, Indian coffee prices, GDP per capita, population, unemployment rate, and CPI. Coffee from Indonesia is sensitive to US spending changes (1,010%) and elastic. The price elasticity value for Indonesian coffee has a negative sign. The cross-price elasticity value of Indonesian coffee compared to Vietnamese coffee is complementary, whereas Vietnamese coffee to Indonesian coffee is a substitute. Meanwhile, Indonesian coffee is complementary to Indian coffee and vice versa
Efficiency of White Mustard Cooperative Farming Production and Socio-Economic Factors Affecting (Case in Tulungrejo Village, Batu City), Indonesia
The inefficiency of white mustard growers in allocating input might lead to low productivity and, ultimately, lower production. This research aims to analyze the level of technical efficiency, allocative efficiency, economic efficiency and socioeconomic factors that influence the technical inefficiency of white mustard farming. The research location is Tulungrejo Village, Batu City. Respondents totaling 67 farmers were selected using the simple random sampling method. Data were analyzed using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), assuming input-oriented VRS and Tobit Regression. The research results show that the average total technical efficiency is (CRSTE = 0.774), (VRSTE = 0.949), (SE = 0.819), the average allocative efficiency is 0.896, and the average economic efficiency is 0.851. Socioeconomic factors influencing the technical inefficiency of white mustard farming are the number of family members and land ownership
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
sophisticated methods
