Di ranah musik, beliau berani mencampurkan berbagai macam genre dengan humor dan sensibilitas Betawi. Wacana-wacana dalam lagunya pun tidak pernah jauh dari kehidupan warga asli Jakarta tersebut. Lewat lirik, Benyamin bercerita tentang keseharian dan konflik kehidupan yang dialami masyarakat kotanya. Benyamin Sueb adalah tokoh yang sangat penting dalam perkembangan seni budaya Indonesia. Karya-karyanya pun merupakan warisan penting dalam perkembangan budaya Betawi dan budaya pop Indonesia. Masalahnya, karya Benyamin kini mulai terlupakan karena pengarsipan dan pengolahan arsip karya-karyanya belum maksimal. Padahal, karya-karyanya adalah heritage yang penting bagi identitas Betawi dan sejarah Jakarta. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana biografi dari Benyamin Sueb dan juga mengetahui bagaimana perkenalan serta perjalanan beliau dalam dunia seni peran. Penelitian ini Metode yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah metode penulisan sejarah atau historis. Metode historis sendiri terdiri dari 4 tahapan yaitu, heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Tahap pertama heuristic (pengumpulan sumber) sumber-sumber yang peneliti gunakan dalam penelitian akan terbagi menjadi dua yaitu sumber primer dan juga sumber sekuder. Sumber primer dokumen berupa surat kabar koran, majalah, dan wawancara keluarga dan rekan Benyamin Sueb. Sedangkan, sumber sekunder diperoleh dari buku yang terkait dengan penelitian. Tahap kedua setelah sumber terkumpul peneliti akan melakukan verifikasi data dengan kritik intern dan kritik esktern untuk melihat otentitas dan kredibilitasnya. Tahap ketiga interpretasi peneliti akan menafsirkan fakta-fakta sejarah yang sudah terkumpul untuk menjadikan rangkaian kisah sejarah. Tahap keempat adalah historiografi yaitu penulisan sejarah peneliti akan menulis hasil penelitian dengan deskritif naratif dan secara sistematis untuk menceritakan bagaimana biografi dari Benyamin Sueb dalam dunia seni peran.
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa lingkungan sangat memengharui bagaimana pola pikir serta berkembangnya kepribadian dari Benyamin Sueb berasal dari keluarga Betawi yang egalier membuat Benyamin mampu berteman dengan berbagai kelas sosial. Dapat menempatkan diri serta beradaptasi dengan berbagai macam kondisi menjadi modal awal Benyamin dalam berkesenian. Keunikan dan kecerdasannya dalam mengolah, melihat lingkungan sekitar, dan mencampurkan berbagai macam hal menjadi sebuah kesatuan yang utuh serta menarik menjadikan itu magnet tersendiri untuk memikat para penggemarnya. Serta setiap karya yang Benyamin hasilkan mencoba mengajak penggemarnya terutama Masyarakat Betawi untuk peduli terhadap lingkungan tempat tinggalnya. Sosoknya yang pantang menyerah dan tidak pernah puas yang ingin terus berkembang menjadikannya sebagai seniman serba bisa.

This study aims to find out the biography of Benyamin Sueb and also find out how he was introduced and his journey in the world of acting. This study The method used by researchers is the historical writing method. The historical method itself consists of 4 stages, namely, heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography. The first stage is heuristic (gathering sources) the sources that researchers use in research will be divided into two, namely primary sources and secondary sources. Primary sources of documents include newspapers, magazines, and interviews with Benyamin Sueb's family and friends. Meanwhile, secondary sources were obtained from books related to research. In the second stage, after the sources have been collected, the researcher will verify the data with internal and external criticism to see its authenticity and credibility. In the third stage of interpretation, the researcher will interpret the historical facts that have been collected to make a series of historical stories. The fourth stage is historiography, namely writing history, the researcher will write the results of the research in a descriptive narrative and systematically tell how the biography of Benyamin Sueb in the acting world is.
The results of this study indicate that the environment greatly influences the mindset and personality development of Benyamin Sueb. Being able to position himself and adapt to various conditions became Benyamin's initial capital in art. His uniqueness and intelligence in processing, seeing the surrounding environment, and mixing various things into a unified and attractive whole makes him a magnet in itself to attract his fans. His unyielding and never-satisfied character who wants to continue to grow makes him a versatile artist.

Self-perceived emotional intelligence in leadership of administrative academic staff / Sueb Ibrahim
Get PDFResearch on effective educational leadership and emotional intelligence is growing. There still remains a gap in the relationship that exists between emotional intelligence and educational leadership especially at higher education institutions such as colleges and universities. The main aim of this study was to identify the self-perceived emotional intelligence in leadership of a university’s administrative academic staff. A total of 20 (out of 26) administrative academic staff participated in this study. Two research instruments that were adapted for this study were Bass and Avolio’s Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ5X Form) and Mayer - Salovey - Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT). The findings indicated that the administrative academic staff perceived themselves as exhibiting a highly transformational leadership style as compared to the other two leadership styles, namely, transactional and laissez- faire. The findings also revealed that the administrative academic staff assessed themselves as demonstrating more on managing emotions as compared to the other three emotional branches, namely perceiving emotions, facilitating emotions, and understanding emotions. It also revealed that there was a weak but significant relationship between the transactional leadership relationship and emotional intelligence while the other two leadership styles did not indicate any significant relationshi
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
The relationship of school principals' leadership styles and emotional intelligence on school effectiveness / Sueb Ibrahim
Get PDFResearch on effective leadership and emotional intelligence is growing. Yet, there still remains a gap on the relationships that exist between leadership and emotional intelligence especially on school effectiveness. Utilizing these connections, the main aim of this study was to identify the relationship of principals' leadership style and emotional intelligence and on school effectiveness. This study utilized both quantitative and qualitative approaches in gathering the data for this study. A total of 115 school principals participated in this study for the quantitative analysis while 8 school principals participated in the qualitative analysis. A focus group interview was also conducted for the development of the School Effectiveness Indicator Instrument (SEII) that measured the level of school effectiveness. Two other instruments that were adapted for this study were Bass and Avolio's Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ5X Form) that identified the principals' leadership styles, and Mayer - Salovey - Caruso Emotional Intelligence Test (MSCEIT) was used to operationalize emotional intelligence. The findings of this study are as follow. First, it indicated that the principals perceived themselves as exhibiting a highly transformational leadership style as compared to the other two leadership styles, namely transactional and laissez- faire. Second, it revealed that the principals assessed themselves as demonstrating more on managing emotions as compared to the other three emotional branches namely perceiving emotions, facilitating emotions, and understanding emotions. Third, it depicted that over the three years (2007 -2009), the schools in Sarawak occupied the three lower bands of school namely Band 3 (Fairly Low), Band 4 (Satisfactory) and Band 5 (High). Fourth, it revealed that there was a weak but significant relationship between the transactional leadership relationship and emotional intelligence while the other two leadership styles did not indicate any significant relationship. Fifth, there was no evidence to believe that principals' leadership style scores was significantly related to school effectiveness. Sixth, the findings indicated the existence of significant relationships between EI branches and school effectiveness. Seventh, there was no significant relationship between gender and leadership style scores. Eighth, findings indicated no significant relationship between salary grade and leadership style scores and finally, in terms of gender and salary grade, there was no significant difference in the EI as a whole. From the findings of the study, training and other professional development programmes may be more precisely formulated to empower secondaryschool principals in Sarawak and also in Malaysia as a whole. It also proposes some dimensions and indicators for school effectiveness that can be used as guidelines in measuring the level of school effectiveness in Malaysian schools
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
