    Effective Pharmacy Department Leadership

    No full text
The Directors Forum series is written and edited by Robert Weber and Michael Sanborn and is designed to guide pharmacy leaders in establishing patient-centered services in hospitals and health systems. Another specific goal of this column is to address many of the key challenges that pharmacy directors face today, while providing information to foster growth in pharmacy leadership. This month's Forum was written by guest author Sara J. White and focuses directly on some of the critical elements that exemplify strong pharmacy leadership, as well as the director's role in staff development. </jats:p

Spaniards in Mauthausen: Representations of a Nazi Concentration Camp

    No full text
Spaniards in Mauthausen: Representations of a Nazi Concentration Camp, 1940-2015 is the first study of the cultural legacy of Spaniards imprisoned and killed during the Second World War in the Nazi concentration camp Mauthausen. Diverse accounts from survivors of Mauthausen, chronicled in letters, artwork, photographs, memoirs, fiction, film, theatre, and new media, illustrate how Spaniards have become cognizant of the Spanish government’s relationship to the Nazis and its role in the victimization of Spanish nationals in Mauthausen. By examining narratives about Spanish Mauthausen victims over the past seventy years, author Sara J. Brenneis provides a historical, critical, and chronological analysis of a virtually unknown body of work. Sara J. Brenneis is Professor of Spanish at Amherst College in Massachusetts. She has published three books that examine the interplay between fiction and history in 20th Century Spain, with a particular focus on Spain\u27s legacy during World War II: Spain, the Second World War and the Holocaust: History and Representation (U Toronto P, 2020), coedited with Gina Herrmann; Spaniards in Mauthausen: Representations of a Nazi Concentration Camp, 1940-2015 (U Toronto P, 2018); and Genre Fusion: A New Approach to History, Fiction, and Memory in Contemporary Spain (Purdue UP, 2014). Presented by the University of Minnesota\u27s Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, Center for Austrian Studies, and Department of Spanish and Portuguese; cosponsored by the Ray Wolpow Institute for the Study of the Holocaust, Genocide, and Crimes Against Humanity (Western Washington University), the University of Graz (Austria), and the Centro Sefarad-Israel (Madrid)

Measurement of the ratio of prompt χ c to J / ψ production in pp collisions at √s = 7 TeV

    No full text
    The prompt production of charmonium χ c and J / ψ states is studied in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of √s = 7 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider. The χ c and J / ψ mesons are identified through their decays χ c → J / ψ γ and J / ψ → μ + μ - using 36 pb - 1 of data collected by the LHCb detector in 2010. The ratio of the prompt production cross-sections for χ c and J / ψ, σ (χ c → J / ψ γ) / σ (J / ψ), is determined as a function of the J / ψ transverse momentum in the range 2 < p T J / ψ < 15 GeV / c. The results are in excellent agreement with next-to-leading order non-relativistic expectations and show a significant discrepancy compared with the colour singlet model prediction at leading order, especially in the low p T J / ψ region
