No full textIn this interview, the young Finn sociologist Olli Pyyhtinen, author of an important and recent book on Georg Simmel (Simmel and “the social”), explains what he believes to be central in Simmel’s sociology and thinking, as well as some of its limitations and challenges for contemporary sociology. His perspective highlights Simmel’s radical relationism. He also discusses the problem of the gift, as proposed by Mauss and others, and the dynamics that at the same time establishes and denies it. Finally, he indicates some elements of his current research on garbage as an index of abundance in contemporary society and its relation to the distribution of wealth in the world
On the definition of solution to the total variation flow

Publisher Copyright: © 2021 The Author(s)The present work investigates the effect of pilot fuel properties on TF combustion using premixed methane-hydrogen-air (CH4-H2-air) mixtures ignited by a small amount of diesel pilot. Especially, we are investigating the effect of the cetane number (CN) and aromatic content (AC) on TF combustion in a single-cylinder compression ignition (CI) engine at varying charge air temperatures (Tair = 25 °C, 40 °C, 55 °C) and H2 volume fractions (MH2 = 10%, 20%, 40% and 60%) at lean premixed charge mixture conditions (equivalence ratio φ = 0.5). The novelty and main findings of the work consist of the following features: 1) besides the effect of H2 concentration and charge-air temperature, pilot fuel properties also play a crucial role in TF combustion, even a small amount of diesel pilot could dramatically affect the engine performance and combustion stability, 2) the CN and AC are the key factors affect the ignition delay time (IDT) and indicated thermal efficiency (ITE), 3) the in-cylinder pressure oscillation analysis based on a novel Superlets (SL) approach indicates that pilot fuel properties are important to the combustion states and combustion stability.Peer reviewe

Genetic association study of QT interval highlights role for calcium signaling pathways in myocardial repolarization.
No full textThe QT interval, an electrocardiographic measure reflecting myocardial repolarization, is a heritable trait. QT prolongation is a risk factor for ventricular arrhythmias and sudden cardiac death (SCD) and could indicate the presence of the potentially lethal mendelian long-QT syndrome (LQTS). Using a genome-wide association and replication study in up to 100,000 individuals, we identified 35 common variant loci associated with QT interval that collectively explain ∼8-10% of QT-interval variation and highlight the importance of calcium regulation in myocardial repolarization. Rare variant analysis of 6 new QT interval-associated loci in 298 unrelated probands with LQTS identified coding variants not found in controls but of uncertain causality and therefore requiring validation. Several newly identified loci encode proteins that physically interact with other recognized repolarization proteins. Our integration of common variant association, expression and orthogonal protein-protein interaction screens provides new insights into cardiac electrophysiology and identifies new candidate genes for ventricular arrhythmias, LQTS and SCD
Can we tell the truth about the future?
No full textIn this thesis, I look at the construction of truth in documentary cinema and the possibility of telling the truth about future reality through hybridization of documentary and fiction in my documentary film Elämäni Internetissä. The purpose of this research that I'm reporting was increasing the knowledge of the concepts of documentary and to improve my professional skills as an author, Director. I highlight the existence of a mix between the original concepts of documentary and fiction film in documentary format. I recognize this new term of Docufiction through the theories of the literature of the documentary process, the fiction to fact transitions and telling the truth researches, a rapport about the hybrid genre, and recent discoveries of the new term Docufiction. Were the term fiction is seen as a tool to create a point of view to the audience from a physical, abstract, philosophical, subconscious, and unconscious perspective together with interviews. Together they can perceive the reality and truth aspects in narrative storytelling.
This work is limited to my subjective perspective as the author of the documentary. I utilize this qualitative case study to examine my documentary process. I reflect on my work process which includes being a Director, Producer, Journalist, Screenwriter, Narrative voice- and Actor as the Reporter. In my production process description, I divide my film into three interview parts: what is data gathering? Privacy, and Data breaches. This is told through three presentation worlds of the reporter's personal story consider- ing the past, the present, and the future aspects of the subject Individual data gathering. I analyze the worlds through my literature references and own thoughts on the work process and the final result of my documentary. Harvaan asutulla seudulla maallikoiden antamalla ensiavulla on vielä isompi rooli kuin kaupun-kiympäristössä. Opinnäytetyössä suunnittelin ja toteutin ensiapukoulutuksen matkailu- ja ravinto-lapalveluita tuottavalle Lammintuvalle. Opinnäytetyön tarkoitus oli suunnitella ja toteuttaa Lam-mintuvan henkilökunnan tarpeisiin sopiva ensiapukoulutus. Opinnäytetyön tavoite oli lisätä Lam-mintuvan henkilökunnan valmiuksia toimia yllättävissä ja haastavissa hätätilanteissa. Lammintupa sijaitsee puolen tunnin ajomatkan päässä Kuusamosta, joten ammattiavun saapuminen kestää kauan. Tutkimustehtävät opinnäytetyössäni olivat: Millaiset ovat Lammintuvan henkilökunnan ensiaputaidot ja valmiudet? Millainen ensiapukoulutus parantaa Lammintuvan henkilökunnan en-siaputaitoja?
Otin huomioon ensiapukoulutuksen suunnittelussa toimeksiantajan kanssa kartoitetut Lammintu-van erityispiirteet. Ensiapukoulutuspäivä järjestettiin toimeksiantajan tiloissa, ensiapukoulutuksen kesto oli kuusi tuntia. Päivä koostui teoriaosuudesta sekä käytännön harjoittelusta. Matkailuala on sesonkiluontoista työtä, työntekijät vaihtuvat paljon. Haasteita opinnäytetyön suunnitteluun toi se, että toimeksiantaja ei tiennyt osallistujien määrää etukäteen. Koulutukseen osallistui lopulta 12 Lammintuvan työntekijää.
Opinnäytetyön toiminnallista osuutta osallistujat arvioivat kirjallisella palautteella. Palautteen pe-rusteella onnistuin koulutustapahtumassa suunnitelman mukaisesti ja se oli kohderyhmälle sopi-va. Saamani palaute oli erinomaista ja siitä selvisi, että osasin opettaa asiat ymmärrettävästi. Toimeksiantaja haluaisi, että pitäisin heille ensiapukoulutusta vuosittain.Abstract

In sparsely populated areas, first aid given by ordinary people is more significant than in urban environments. This thesis introduces first aid training planned and organized for Lammintupa, a company providing tourism and restaurant services in Kuusamo. The purpose of this thesis was to plan and organize first aid training suitable for the needs of the Lammintupa staff. The aim of the thesis was to increase the capability of the Lammintupa staff to act in sudden and unex-pected emergency situations. Lammintupa is located a half an hour’s drive from Kuusamo town center, so it takes a long time for professional emergency assistance to arrive in the scene. The research tasks were the following: what were the first aid skills and capabilities of the Lammintu-pa staff and what kind of first aid training would improve the first aid skills of the Lammintupa staff?
The special features of Lammintupa were taken into account in the contents of the first aid train-ing day. The training day, which consisted of a theoretical part and practical training, was ar-ranged on the client’s premises and lasted for six hours. The tourism business is seasonal, and the employee turnover is high. Therefore, it was challenging to plan the training day because the client did not know the number of participants in advance. Eventually 12 Lammintupa employees participated in the training.
The participants evaluated the functional part of the thesis by giving written feedback. According to the feedback, the training day was successful and suitable for the target group. The feedback received was excellent and indicated that matters were taught in an understandable way. The cli-ent would like to have similar first aid training annually
