Nøkkelord: Helsepersonells erfaringer, fremmere og hemmere, implementering, kamerabasert tilsyn, eldre i hjemmetjenestenBackground: In order to meet the future challenges of an aging population and fewer people of working age, efforts will include, among other things, facilitating aging in place by increasing the use of welfare technology. One of the recommendations is to implement camera-based care monitoring in municipal home care services, as it can effectively meet the need, in addition to ensuring safety and security in the home. It is the health professionals who will use the technology, and it is therefore necessary to have knowledge about what they identify as facilitators and barriers for successful implementation. Purpose: The purpose of the study is to contribute to increased knowledge so that municipalities are more likely to succeed in implementing welfare technology in the future. Through the study, the goal is to develop knowledge about what health professionals identifies as facilitators and barriers for successful implementation of camera-based care monitoring for the elderly in municipal home care services. Method: The results are based on qualitative semi-structured interviews with four health professionals from the home care services in two Norwegian municipalities. Systematic text condensation (STC) was used for analysis. Findings: The results include four main themes consisting of technical’, organizational’ and cultural facilitators and barriers, and ethical challenges. The first main theme is composed of opportunities and challenges related to the technical. Organizational facilitators and barriers include the need for training and information, planning, division of roles and collaboration, and development of procedures for assessment, monitoring and notifications, and evaluation. Cultural facilitators and barriers are composed of health professionals understanding of the need for the technology, and attitudes towards the technology among health professionals, users and next of kin. Ethical challenges were related to camera-based care monitoring as an intrusive technology, and the need for user participation. Conclusion: Municipal home care services are complex, and there are a number of factors to take into account when implementing camera-based care monitoring. It is considered necessary to have thorough planning, and continuous involvement of the health professionals who provide the services. Keywords: Experiences of health professionals, facilitators and barriers, implementation, camera-based care monitoring, elderly in municipal home care service

Aiming for Social or Political Robustness? Media Strategies Among Climate Scientists

    No full text
This study examines climate scientists’ views on media science communication and their strategies for dealing with journalists and climate deniers. Drawing on scholarly calls for openness and public engagement, particularly the concept of “socially robust knowledge,” this article discusses how climate scientists weigh concerns of control, openness, and transparency when considering how to best communicate with the public through the mass media. The author argues that “socially robust knowledge” neglects the challenges of “medialization” of climate science and proposes that the climate scientists’ strategy can better be described as attempts to achieve “politically robust” communication.acceptedVersionThis is the authors' accepted and refereed manuscript to the article

Introduction: Based on previous research, participation in meaningful activities has many positive health effects for children with cerebral palsy (CP), however children with CP participate less in meaningful activities than other children at the same age. The purpose of the study is to examine how occupational therapists in the municipal healthcare service, work to promote participation in meaningful activites for children with CP. Therefore, the study covers how occupational therapists in the municipal healthcare service work with meaningful activities for children with CP. Method: A qualitative approach was used to investigate the research question, consisting of four individual interviews with occupational therapists working with children in the municipal healthcare service. Results: Three main themes emerged consisting of the importance of activity and participation, mapping and measuring initiated by the occupational therapists. Based on the mapping and measuring, the occupational therapists implement measures such as guidance of staff and relatives, assistive device, ADL-training, exercise of bodily functions, positioning and changing the activities. Conclusion: Based on previous research and the findings of this study, occupational therapy has great significance for the participation in activities for the group of children with CP. Occupational therapists ability to see the whole picture and their perspective on activity can enable the childs participation in meaningful activities

Experiences and Perceptions of Multiculturality, Diversity, Whiteness and White Privilege in Music Teacher Education in Mid-Norway – Contributions to Excluding Structures

    No full text
This article focuses on how staff in musical teacher education institutions experience and perceive the terms multiculturality, diversity, whiteness and white privilege, and how this might contribute to excluding structures. The author suggests through a post-qualitative rhizomatic analysis some ways through which excluding structures might be maintained, some touchpoints between different fields of practice, and some marginal practices with enough power to create alternative norms. The author also suggests some points of immanence, what can be seen as remaining within (unspoken of) the practices and a list of possible excluding practices and/or possible consequences for the marginalized groups

The purpose of this thesis is to try to understand how a selection of Norwegian fiction authors' habitus is expressed through opinions, choices and attitudes related to the use or absence of digital publishing in their work. In an ever more digitized world, Norwegian authors risk losing many readers if younger generations feel that ebooks in foreign languages are easier and cheaper to obtain than Norwegian alternatives. This master thesis presents a study based on qualitative interviews with eighteen Norwegian authors. The authors were interviewed about their thoughts, choices and attitudes when it comes to digital publishing of their own literary work. Not many previous studies have dealt with the author's role in digital development inside a narrow language field. This thesis emphasizes the important role of the author, as the producer of the raw material in the literary market. The qualitative study shows that the majority of the authors were ambivalent to the development of the ebook, hesitant to position themselves as decidedly positive or negative towards it. As professionals, they emphasized writing quality books, and were less concerned about how their books were sold or distributed. Additionally, the Norwegian authors' financial concerns and priorities are inevitably situated within a regime of political, social and economic forces that promotes the printed book over the ebook. Norwegian policies are established to enhance and maintain diversity in the literary field, providing economic support to a wide variety of writing projects. However, this support is mainly aimed at projects that result in printed rather than digital publications. Norwegian authors, being part of this regime, may not see the possibilities that exist. Many of the authors in the study were sceptical towards the digital as opposed to the printed format because in more recent tradition a proper author is considered to be someone whose work is manifested as a physical object of printed sheets of paper bound within a cover. An author can be a fiction writer, writer of children's books or thrillers. The term digital writer or game writer is less likely to occur. However, the digital technology brings new possibilities and opportunities. In order to strengthen the Norwegian literature in the national and international market, it may be important to realize this and encourage experimentation with new digital forms and publishing models

Studying of lumpfish sheltering using natural and artificial seaweed.

The aim of this thesis was to evaluate the welfare of the lumpfish (Cyclopterus lumpus) by studying fish behaviour in different habitats, consisting of artificial and natural seaweed hides. Substrates and hides are essential for lumpfish to maintain a good welfare, as well as that the environmental parameters are met. To the knowledge of the author there is currently no published research of lumpfish health conditions and natural seaweed hides. A few articles have focused on different types of artificial hides, such as PVC hides, plastic hides, car tyres, concrete tubes and stones, looking at fish preferences. Here, an experiment was carried out exposing lumpfish to different habitats: natural seaweed hides (Saccharina latissima and Laminaria hyperborea) and artificial hide (artificial seaweed made from PVC). The condition factor, the behavior and the external damages were assessed during the study, which was carried out from December 2020 to March 2021. No significant differences were found in the condition factor of the different groups, indicating that the different hide conditions did not impact nutritional status of the fish. The monitoring of the fish behaviour was carried out using cameras and showed no significant differences among the groups. The only differences were found in fish after two months (T2) between the group with the Saccharina hide and Laminaria hide, and in fish after three months (T3) between the Saccharina and the artificial hide groups. Results varied between periods, thus differences in habitat can not be concluded. What the camera monitoring clearly shows, is that the fish utilizes the hides provided to rest and hide in. Significant difference in total injuries was found between the Saccharina hide and the Laminaria hide groups after three months (T3), indicating less damages in the Laminaria group. There were no significant differences on total injuries after one (T1) and two months (T2). The injury assessment represent a first attempt to give a qualitative support information and more data would need to be collected in order to provide solid conclusions using this information. This study cannot conclude that there were any correlations between type of hide, fish condition and external damages, and more studies need to be conducted order to conclude if there is any impact on behaviour and welfare to the selected groups of hide. Preliminary trials of Saccharina latissima were seeded indoors, in order to test the possibility of cultivation of natural shelters. The seaweed showed good growth, especially in trial 2, and could be a good option to utilize as a hide along with fish in fish farms. The seaweed cultivation could further be used in integration with fish, adding oxygen to the seawater and removing nutrient waste from fish, while giving the seaweed nutrient source

"Vive l'Angleterre": Exploring the Relationship between Britain and Europe in Charlotte Brontë's Novels

    No full text
The purpose of this thesis is to explore the complex relationship Charlotte Brontë s novels have with Europe. It will examine how religion, sexuality and morality, and language are used in order to create a British identity that is contrasted to a European one, but also how these binaries are broken down via the romantic unions of British and European characters and the appeal of certain aspects of Catholicism, European sexuality and the French language. The role of Europe has often been overlooked in favour of the British Empire in Brontë scholarship, and this thesis posits that Europe is integral to the establishment of a British national identity in Brontë s works. Furthermore, those who have studied the author s presentation of Europe have often limited themselves to the two novels that are set on the Continent, but I argue that much is lost in disregarding the remainder of Brontë s works. The findings of this thesis suggest that despite the rampant Europhobia found in Brontë s works, these novels stand out amongst their contemporaries in envisaging romantic unions between Britons and Europeans and that the British characters need something, or someone, European in order to be fulfilled. However, though the novels ask the question whether there is any room for Europe in the British national identity Brontë constructs, Britain is ultimately victorious in the battle between the two
