    Should I share it? Factors influencing fake news-sharing behaviour: A behavioural reasoning theory perspective

    Social media has become an integral part of our lives because of its popularity among users. However, the dissemination of fake information has been a significant issue for marketers, as it severely damages brand image. This study examined variables related to intentions (for and against) to share fake news online using behavioral reasoning theory (BRT). We also examined the impact of perceived believability as a mediator and how the mediating effects of perceived believability are moderated by social-status seeking and cognitive fluency. Data were collected from 356 respondents using online questionnaires. The hypotheses were tested using structural equation modeling and PROCESS Macro. The results suggest that the joy of missing out (JOMO) and government regulations negatively impact fake news-sharing intention. Source credibility and information quality positively impact fake news-sharing intention. Perceived believability mediates the association between antecedents and fake news-sharing intention. Mediated-moderation analysis show that social status seeking and cognitive fluency also significantly impact fake news-sharing intention. This study enriches the fake news and social media literature, and has managerial implications for marketers

    Visualization of plasma edges using VTK and Adobe Flash

    Visualization is a very useful tool in the study and analysis of huge experimental or simulation datasets. It converts vast amount of numerical data into graphical images, extracts important hidden information and aids scientists in hypothesis building. This thesis focuses on migrating visualization module of Plasma Edge from commercial visualization software AVS to open source visualization library VTK. The VTK visualization module will be integrated in new plasma edge simulation code package at the Center for Plasma Edge Simulation for the study of plasma edge region relevant to both existing magnetic fusion facilities and next generation burning plasma experiments. VTK visualization module generates two set of images: 2D images representing cross-sectional view of 3D torroidal plane, and 3D images representing whole torroidal plane. Two Adobe Flash modules were also developed using open source Adobe Flex to integrate the VTK visualization module with eSimMon dashboard, a front-end tool for simulation monitoring. The first section briefly summarizes key macroeconomic developments regarding economic growth, inflation, external balance, the fiscal situation and aggregate savings and investment. The second section considers some of the challenges posed to macroeconomic management in this period and the efficacy of the policy responses adopted. In particular, it analyses the progress in fiscal consolidation and the policies adopted to deal with the challenge of the unprecedented surge in external capital inflows into India.     The Service Sector as India's Road to Economic Growth

    While India is distinctive among developing countries for its fast-growing service sector, sceptics have raised doubts about the quality and sustainability of this service-sector growth and its implications for economic development. We show, consistent with the views of the sceptics, that while growth of the sector has been unusually rapid, it started 15 years ago from unusually low levels. That the share of services has now simply converged to the international norm raises questions about whether it will continue growing rapidly. In particular, whether service-sector output and employment continue to grow in excess of international norms will depend on the continued expansion of modern services (business services, communication and banking) but, also, on the application of modern information technology to more traditional services (retail and wholesale trade, transport and storage, public administration and defense ). The second aspect obviously has more positive implications for output than for employment. We also show that the modern services that are growing most rapidly are now large enough where their future performance could have a significant macroeconomic impact. The expansion of modern service-sector employment is not simply disguised manufacturing activity. Finally, we show that the mix of skilled and unskilled labor in manufacturing and services is increasingly similar. It is no longer obvious therefore that manufacturing is the main destination for the vast majority of Indian labor moving into the modern sector and that modern services are a viable destination only for the highly-skilled few. We conclude that sustaining economic growth and raising living standards will require shifting labor into both manufacturing and services.

    Multifunctional Interpenetrated 3D Supramolecular Structure Based on 1D Coordination Polymers: Selective Adsorption, Magnetism, Optical Property, Theoretical Analysis, and Electrical Conductivity

    A paddle-wheel-based multifunctional 1D coordination polymer (CP) {[Cu 2 (4-Cl-Bz) 4 (4,4′-bipy)](DMF) 2 } n (where 4-Cl-BzH = 4-chlorobenzoic acid, 4,4′-bipy = 4,4′-bipyridine, and DMF = dimethylformamide), (complex 1) have been synthesized via the solvothermal method and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis along with other spectroscopic studies. Structural analysis shows that 1 crystallizes in the tetragonal P4 /ncc space group and 1D coordination chains are formed by connecting [Cu 2 (4-Cl-Bz) 4 ] paddle wheel units using 4,4′-bipy moieties along the crystallographic c axis. These 1D coordination chains are assembled to each other through weak π···π interactions to form interpenetrated 3D supramolecular structure, forming channels along the [1 1 0] and [−1 1 0] direction hosting DMF molecules. Hirshfeld surface analysis and corresponding 2D fingerprint plots indicate that π···π interaction is the major interaction among the coordination chains. Thermal analysis shows that guest DMF molecules are released within the temperature range of 70−150 °C and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) analysis reveals the quenching of the void space after removal of the solvent molecules. The desolvated framework selectively adsorbs CO 2 over N 2 . The magneto-luminescent behavior of the framework has also been studied. This π-induced 3D supramolecular complex shows semiconducting behavior and conductivity increases upon desolvation

    Among fast growing developing countries, India is distinctive for the role of theservice sector. However, sceptics have raised doubts about both the quality andsustainability of the increase in service sector activity and its implications foreconomic development. Using National Accounts Statistics and cross-county data, weshow that the growth of services has been broad-based. We show that the growth ofservice sector employment is not simply disguised manufacturing activity. We alsofind that the skilled-unskilled mix of labour in the two sectors is becomingincreasingly similar. Hence, it is no longer obvious that manufacturing is the maindestination for the vast majority of Indian labour moving into the modern sector andthat modern services are only a viable destination for the highly skilled few. To theextent that the expansion of both modern manufacturing and modern services isconstrained by the availability of skilled labour, this just underscores the importancefor India of continuing to invest in labour skills. We conclude that sustainingeconomic growth and raising living standards will require shifting labour out ofagriculture into both manufacturing and services and not just into one or the other.Services, Growth, Structural change, India, Employment

    Scientometric Portrait of Homi Jehangir Bhabha: The Father of Indian Nuclear Research Programme

    Quantitative and qualitative analysis with graphic representation of the publication productivity of a scientist facilitates easy and clear perception about the work of a scientist. Bhabha’s scientific work spanned over more than three decades (1933-1967) during which he published 104 publications, which could be classified into nine fields: Interaction of Radiation with Matter (4), Quantum Electrodynamics (5), Mathematical Physics (2), Cosmic Ray Physics (18), Elementary Particle Physics (14), Field Theory (15), General Physics (2), Nuclear Physics (4) and General (40). The highest number of publications (6) were published in 1941, 1945 and 1964 respectively. The average number of publications published per year was 3.05. His productivity coefficient was 0.05 which is a clear indicates that his publication productivity was quite consistent throughout his scientific career. He was single author in 79 of his publications and the main author in 24 publications indicates that he always preferred to work himself and lead the team as ‘mentor’. Bhabha had 22 collaborators during the period. Team of research collaborators working with a successful scientist documents the sociological aspect of history of science while generating knowledge by a leader in a domain. Bhabha became a citable author in 1937. Bhabha received 1211 citations to his 30 publications out of 104 publications. Out of 104, 74 publications did not receive any citations. Out of 74 publications, 40 publications dealt subjects mainly of general interest. Bhabha’s 86.66 percent of cited publications received their first citations within four years of their publication indicates that his publications were noticed immediately and had direct impact among the fellow researchers working all over the world. His overall citation rate was 11.64 per cited publication. The highest citations 389 were received to the domain ‘Cosmic ray physics’. The highest number of citations received were 45 in 1938. His self-citations were only 24 (1.98%) and citations by others were 1187 (98.02%). The highest self citations were six in 1946. Bhabha’s mean diachronous self-citation rate was 1.98. The highest citation rate 28.4 was to the domain ‘Quantum electrodynamics. His single authored publications have received the highest number 863 (71.26%) of citations. Bhabha’s five publications have been cited more than 100 times each. His publications have been cited by the authors working in various diverse fields like nuclear physics, mathematical physics, instrumentation, optics, geophysics and geochemistry, condensed matter physics, applied physics, electrical and electronic engineering, mechanical engineering etc., indicating a very diverse influence and impact of Bhabha’s publications. Bhabha’s publications have also been cited by the Nobel laureates like V. L. Ginzberg, Wolfgang Pauli, H. A. Bethe, M. Born, W. Bothe, E. P. Wigner, H. Yukawa, P. M. S. Blackett and C. N. Yang which is an indication of his originality of ideas and high quality of publications
