Tin-based Perovskite Solar Cells: Simulation Studies to Critically Assess Limiting Kinetics

Jon is a senior in the Mechanical Engineering Technology program who is expecting to graduate in the spring of 2020. He is interested in the fabrication and mechanics of perovskite solar absorbers as well as piezoelectronics. After graduation, he is looking to either pursue a Master’s degree in Nanomaterials or possibly moving into the private sector to continue his solar research.
During his fellowship, Jon familiarized himself with a solar simulation software known as SCAPS in an attempt to further his understanding of perovskite cells. Using this software, he is now able to calculate and tabulate the electrical and optical properties of theoretical perovskite structures, which will give way to finding the most efficient stackup in a lab setting. Examples of this work done by him using a simpler software have been published in three different academic journals, and presented twice last year at each meeting of the Materials Research Society. Jon’s research earned him an internship at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, working with the Center for Nanoscale Technology and Science from January through April 2020.https://digitalcommons.buffalostate.edu/srcc-sp20-usrfp/1006/thumbnail.jp
Blood and stone on stage: Peter Shaffer's tragic plays /
Tese (doutorado) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro de Comunicação e Expressão.O objetivo específico desta tese é analisar quatro peças de autoria de Peter Shaffer-The Royal Hunt of the Sun, Equus, Amadeus e Yonadab-observando o uso de técnicas teatrais e a relação com os princípios da tragédia propostos por Aristóteles na Poética. Elas são então comparadas com três importantes peças gregas-Prometeu Acorrentado, de Ésquilo, Édipo Rei, de Sófocles e Medéia, de Eurípides- uma vez que o objetivo geral do presente trabalho é descobrir se existe tragédia moderna, de que forma ela é apresentada nas peças de Shaffer, e em que ela difere da tragédia grega. Na análise empreendida verifica-se que as peças de Shaffer apresentam muitas afinidades com as tragédias gregas e observam vários dos princípios estabelecidos por Aristóteles. No entanto elas se constituem em exemplares genuínos de tragédia moderna, pois discutem questões sérias atuais e apresentam personagens desafiadoras que enfrentam situações complexas e dilemas éticos e metafísicos. Além disso, as peças de Shaffer apresentam enredos muito bem elaborados, que combinam com habilidade os vários recursos teatrais descritos, e culminam numa experiência envolvente de teatro. No primeiro capítulo o paradigma teórico da tese é apresentado e analisado-os elementos e recursos teatrais e a Poética de Aristóteles-, mostrando como eles são importantes para o estudo do teatro em geral e para a tragédia em particular. No segundo capítulo os vários itens da fundamentação teórica são aplicados às peças gregas selecionadas, mostrando como elas confirmam e como se desviam dos princípios aristotélicos. No terceiro capítulo, o mesmo é feito em relação às peças de Peter Shaffer. No quarto capítulo as peças de Peter Shaffer são comparadas às gregas, mostrando como um dramaturgo moderno, através de narrativas históricas e míticas, recria o drama trágico, usando os vários recursos teatrais disponíveis para transmitir uma perspectiva trágica da vida. A Conclusão é que, considerando as semelhanças e diferenças detectadas entre as peças de Shaffer e as gregas, as peças de Shaffer podem ser consideradas tragédias modernas relevantes, que resgatam uma visão trágica da vida, tão importante para os gregos, num contexto moderno

openDopo una breve panoramica della letteratura italiana degli ultimi vent’anni si analizzano i due romanzi di Jonathan Bazzi "Febbre" e "Corpi minori" dai punti di vista formale, stilistico e tematico. Si discute inoltre il rapporto tra social media, autofiction e autore; nel capitolo 4 si riporta l'intervista che Bazzi ci ha gentilmente concesso, in cui questi argomenti vengono ripresi.
Si individuano alcune differenze che i testi mostrano rispetto alla letteratura moderna, e gli aspetti che hanno in comune con quella contemporanea; nel fare questo si accennano quindi alcune caratteristiche della società che li ha prodotti.The paper starts off with a brief overview of the contemporary Italian literature; then the reader is guided through an analysis of Jonathan Bazzi's novels, "Febbre" ("Fever") and "Corpi minori" ("Minor bodies"), both translated in English and published by Scribe. The clinical utility of microarray technologies applied to prenatal cytogenetics in the presence of a normal conventional karyotype: a review of the literature
The clinical utility of microarray technologies when used in the context of prenatal diagnosis lies in the technology's ability to detect submicroscopic copy number changes that are associated with clinically significant outcomes. We have carried out a systematic review of the literature to calculate the utility of prenatal microarrays in the presence of a normal conventional karyotype. Amongst 12?362 cases in studies that recruited cases from all prenatal ascertainment groups, 295/12?362 (2.4%) overall were reported to have copy number changes with associated clinical significance (pCNC), 201/3090 (6.5%) when ascertained with an abnormal ultrasound, 50/5108 (1.0%) when ascertained because of increased maternal age and 44/4164 (1.1%) for all other ascertainment groups (e.g. parental anxiety and abnormal serum screening result). When additional prenatal microarray studies are included in which ascertainment was restricted to fetuses with abnormal ultrasound scans, 262/3730 (7.0%) were reported to have pCNCs
To what extent is Lemuel Gulliver in Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift a reflection of the writer with regard to political and religious views, and attitudes toward women and the concept of family?
This extended essay is an examination of the extent to which the protagonist Lemuel Gulliver in Gulliver’s Travels is a reflection of Jonathan Swift. It involves the exploration of this research question in terms of politics, religion, attitude to women and family; with references to this piece of literature and some secondary resources when necessary. The quotations from published literary criticism are either refuted by examples from the novel or supported in the light of evidence from the novel. Other secondary resources include Swift’s two other prose works, The Modest Proposal and A Letter to a Very Young Lady on Her Marriage, which are referred to briefly for clarification of the evidence. The purpose of this study is to analyse in what ways and to what extent the protagonist is an author-surrogate in the abovementioned ways.
This essay is comprised of two sections, namely “politics and religion” and “women and family”, each focusing on a particular aspect of the investigation. In the first section, Swift’s political and religious standpoint is discussed extensively in order to correctly evaluate Gulliver’s paradigm. By making connections between the beliefs of the author and those of Gulliver, the relation between the two is established to support the claim of this essay. In the second section, the female figures in the novel and Gulliver’s perception of them are inspected. The plot is also taken into consideration in this part of the inquiry although the central focus is on the persona.
In the conclusion, it is validated that Gulliver is a reflection of Jonathan Swift with regard to political and religious vision, and attitude towards women and family, by juxtaposing and assembling the main elements of personification of Gulliver and Jonathan Swift’s personal ideas and experiences
Administration and Curricula of the Introductory Graduate Music Research Course
The introductory research course is an integral part of many graduate music programs, yet there have been few studies that discuss its curricula across institutions. A questionnaire was sent to instructors of the course to identify shared pedagogical approaches among North American schools of music. The survey was divided into sections that prompted respondents to identify issues discussed in the course, including the types and titles of resources, research methodologies, and library use topics. With a response rate of over 40 percent, the survey also contains valuable data concerning the professional identifications of instructors, assignments used for grading, common textbooks, perception of the course’s efficacy, and more. Shared features of the course included the importance of electronic resources; the minimal use of Internet-mediated instruction formats; a strong preference for English-language materials; and a focus on resources such as databases, style guides, collected works, monuments of music, and thematic catalogs over and above others such as repertoire guides, discographies, directories, and iconographies.Peer reviewedThis publication first appeared in Notes Volume 71, Number 3, March 2015, pp. 448-478. Citizen participation in news
The process of producing news has changed significantly due to the advent of the Web, which has enabled the increasing involvement of citizens in news production. This trend has been given many names, including participatory journalism, produsage, and crowd-sourced journalism, but these terms are ambiguous and have been applied inconsistently, making comparison of news systems difficult. In particular, it is problematic to distinguish the levels of citizen involvement, and therefore the extent to which news production has genuinely been opened up. In this paper we perform an analysis of 32 online news systems, comparing them in terms of how much power they give to citizens at each stage of the news production process. Our analysis reveals a diverse landscape of news systems and shows that they defy simplistic categorisation, but it also provides the means to compare different approaches in a systematic and meaningful way. We combine this with four case studies of individual stories to explore the ways that news stories can move and evolve across this landscape. Our conclusions are that online news systems are complex and interdependent, and that most do not involve citizens to the extent that the terms used to describe them imply

They hold tremendous potential. When stacked in tandem with silicon, they have the potential to fuel the breakthrough needed to push solar to the forefront of the nation\u27s energy industry. This research focuses on one of the biggest limiting factors of these perovskites—the inclusion of lead as a base material. In lieu of lead, I am using Tin to showcase the full functionality of the cell, and to investigate the limiting kinetics of the devices such that I can pursue more possibilities for a non-toxic perovskite. My research focuses on simulation studies, wherein I use advanced software to adjust some of the critical input parameters and analyze the results. Once these parameters are optimized, I can analyze the overall efficiency dynamics, in both the electrical and optical sense, to discover the limiting criteria of the material, as well as to discover more cost-effective and efficient solar stack configurations.https://digitalcommons.buffalostate.edu/srcc-sp20-compeng/1017/thumbnail.jp
