Foliar resorption and chlorophyll content in leaves of Cistus creticus L. (Cistaceae) along an elevational gradient in Turkey
Foliar nitrogen and phosphorus dynamics, leaf resorption efficiency, proficiency, changing of chlorophyll a/b proportions in leaves of Cistus creticus L. (Cistaceae) along an elevational gradient (sea level-30 m, middle-670 m, high- 80 m) were investigated. Statistically significant differences were found in foliar nitrogen and phosphosrus content in terms of growth periods, while no significant differences were found according to elevations. Nitrogen and phosphorus resorption efficiency and proficiency values were high as compared to the other evergreen species. Cistus creticus effectively used nitrogen and phosphorus. No statistically significant differences were found among elevations in terms of specific leaf area. However, statistically significant differences were found in terms of growth periods. There were significant differences in chlorophyll a/b proportion according to both growth periods and elevations. Besides, the chlorophyll a/b proportion increased along senescence period
TREE SPECIES DIVERSITY AND IMPORTANCE VALUE OF DIFFERENT FOREST COMMUNITIES IN YENICE FORESTS
For the calculation of each kind of important value index is used to the number of individuals of the species, the number of species and the total number of individuals. This study is carried out for 24 localities in Kavakli and Citdere Nature Reserves Area's mixtured and pure beech and oak forests in Yenice Forests between 2014-2016. Changes in floristic composition were analyzed using the Importance Value index (IVI), calculated for each of the tree species. According to the results of the important value of Kavakli Nature Reserves Area (NCA) in forested areas Abies nordmanniana (Stev.) Spach subsp. bornmulleriana (Mattf.) Coode et Cullen (157.08 %) is a dominant species. According to the results of the important value index of Citdere Nature Reserves Area in forest area Fagus orientalis L. (%145.1) is dominant species. The tree species diversity and the richness parameters are important in terms of Evenness at P <0, 05 in the field of Kavakli. The maximum effect of the species settlement within the area is provided with precipitation, slope aspect and soil moisture. The increase of the species richness of trees causes the increase of species diversity in the field of the Kavakli and Citdere areas
Effect of environmental factors on species diversity of the Yenice Hot Spot Forests in Turkey
We quantified the diversity of vascular plant species and described soil properties and topographical and climatic conditions of the Citdere and Kavakli Nature Reserves in the Yenice Forest of Turkey. We used the Shannon-Weiner and Simpson's indices of diversity, Margalef's index of species richness and Pielou's evenness index to quantify the structure of vascular plant assemblages. We measured soil parameters (NO3-, NH4+, available P, Mg++, K+, Na+, Ca++, organic matter, pH, soil moisture), elevation, slope gradient and aspect and their correlations with plant community parameters. In total, we recorded and identified 207 species and subspecies in the study area. Species cover, richness and diversity indices varied significantly by vegetation type (P < 0.01). Available NO3- and Ca++ in the soil were important factors for the area and species representation in the species-environment correlations estimated for the Kavakli area. Available NO3-, pH, organic matter, Ca++ and K+ in the soil were important factors for the area and species representation in the species-environment correlations analysed for the Citdere area

The Turkism Idea in Kızıl Tuğ Novel
Kızıl Tuğ is the first and most important novel by Abdullah Ziya Kozanoğlu, who was a writer of history novels. The novel, published in 1927, was among the best seller until 1980s. Kızıl Tuğ, the important history adventure novels of the Turkish Literature, was also the first history novel of the Republican Period of Turkish Literature. It acted as a source for comic books newly entering the Turkish Literature and as a Pioneer for Yeşilçam movies narrating heroic figures in The Turkish history the novel influenced the following history novelists in this respect. In addition to its popularity among the youth and the children, this work of literature still has effects on contemporary intellectuals and politicians. Kızıl Tuğ narrates the Middle Asian Turkish history in the first quarter of 1200s. The author focuses on the importance of the Turkish Union while narrating the war between Genghis Khan and China. Kızıl Tuğ was written under the idea of nation-state, and it was fictionalized to express the sovereignty of The Turkish nation and the origins of The Turkish people. Kızıl Tuğ, which has an important place in Turkish culture and literature, is of great importance in Turkish Literature since it reflects A. Ziya Kozanoğlu’s perspective on Turkish nation and his concept of Turkis
Selanikli Tevfik’in (1860-1910) Hindistan Seyahatnamesi, (metin-inceleme-indeks)
Selanikli Tevfik’in Sabahın Kış Geceleri Eğlencesi: Musavver Hindistan Seyahatnamesi, kısaca Hindistan Seyahatnamesi kitabının içeriğini tanıtarak ve Osmanlıların Hindistan’a Seferleri, oradaki durumları, iklimleri, memleketleri, tarihi, dini, dili ve coğrafyası hakkında bilgi vermektedir. Tezimizde bu eserin eski harfleri yeni harflere aktarımı yapılarak içerik incelemesi yapılmıştır.The book written by the author during or after the travels-trips are called travelogues. The history of writing a book as a descriptor or including their own comments about the visited places goes to B.C. history. That is why travelogues are among the oldest literary genres. Travelogues give us detailed information about the relevant time and places. Especially because a constant change occurs over time it shows the first reflection of this situation at the place. Because the traveler usually quotes in his book what exactly he has seen, later from this point of view the researcher can concretely understand what kind of changes has been occured. The book of Selanikli Tevfik named Sabahın Kış Geceleri Eğlencesi: Musavver Hindistan Seyahatnamesi briefly introduces the contents of the book and it provides the information about 1st expedition of the Ottomans to India, their situation, climates, regions, history, religions, languages and geography. In my thesis, the old Turkis letters of this book will be translated to new Turkish letters and content analysis has been made
The Political Polarisation in the 1960’s Turkish Press Through the Eyes of Ahmet Oktay
Ahmet Oktay is an author, who is remarkable with his poems in the Turkish literature,
as well as his critiques on poetry, novel and who is also known with his studies, reviews
on popular culture, social change and Turkis press. Oktay works in several newspapers
and in TRT; in the meantime he witnesses the development process of Turkish press; he
makes also evaluations with regard to the past and future of this process.
In this study, the reflected dimensions of political polarisation in the Turkish society
during 1960s on Turkish press will be tried to be examined, by looking at Ahmet Oktay’s
book Toplumsal Değişme ve Basın. This period, which witnessed many conflicts of Turkish
political life will be tried to be revealed through Ahmet Oktay’s critical research and
his critical approach
Verdú et al.'s datasets on plant recruitment networks
Plant recruitment interactions (i.e., who recruits under whom) shape the composition, diversity and structure of plant communities. Despite the huge body of knowledge on the mechanisms underlying recruitment interactions between species, we still know little about the structure of the recruitment networks emerging in ecological communities. Modeling and analyzing the community-level structure of plant recruitment interactions as a complex network can provide relevant information on ecological and evolutionary processes acting both at the species and ecosystem levels. We report a data set containing 143 plant recruitment networks in 23 countries across five continents, including temperate and tropical ecosystems. Each network identifies the species under which another species recruits. All networks report the number of recruits (i.e., individuals) per species. The data set includes >850,000 recruiting individuals involved in 118,411 paired interactions between 3,318 vascular plant species across the globe. The cover of canopy species and open ground is also provided as a separated file. Three sampling protocols were used: 1) The Recruitment Network (RN) protocol (106 networks) focuses on interactions between established plants (“canopy species”) and plants in their early stages of recruitment (”recruit species”). A series of plots are delimited within a locality and all the individuals recruiting and their canopy species are identified; 2) The paired Canopy-Open (pCO) protocol (26 networks) consists in locating a potential canopy plant and identifying recruiting individuals under the canopy and in a nearby open space of the same area; 3) The Georeferenced plot (GP) protocol (11 networks) consists in using information from georeferenced individual plants in large plots to infer canopy-recruit interactions. Some networks incorporate data for both herbs and woody species, while others focus exclusively on woody species. The location of each study site, geographical coordinates, country, locality, responsible author, sampling dates, sampling method and life habit of both canopy and recruit species are provided. This database will allow researchers to test ecological, biogeographical and evolutionary hypotheses related to plant recruitment interactions
