    HUBUNGAN ANTARA KADAR SENG (Zn) SERUM DENGAN SKOR TUBERKULOSIS PARU ANAK (The Association Between Serum Zinc (Zn) level and Pulmonary Tuberculosis Score in Children)

    Tujuan : Mengetahui hubungan kadar seng (Zn) serum dengan skor tuberkulosis (TB) paru anak dan menilai hubungan faktor lain yang terkait dengan terjadinya TB paru anak ( status gizi, kadar Hemoglobin, kadar feritin ). Metode : Studi belah lintang, di Bangsal Poliklinik Paru Anak, Poliklinik Umum Anak dan Bangsal Anak RS. Dr. Kariadi Semarang, dari Mei 2007 s/d Oktober 2007. Sebanyak 59 anak umur 6 bulan s/d 12 tahun masuk dalam kriteria inklusi. Variabel bebas meliputi kadar hemoglobin, kadar feritin, kadar seng serum. Variabel tergantung adalah skor TB. Analisis statistik dilakukan dengan Mann- Whitney, uji t, uji korelasi Pearson, Spearman dan regresi linier. Data diolah dengan SPSS 15,0. Hasil : Dari 59 anak didapatkan 54,8% anak dengan konfirmasi TB. Hasil uji korelasi Rank Spearman tidak didapatkan perbedaan yang bermakna secara statistik antara kadar feritin (p=0,34) dan seng (p=0,08) dengan skor TB, sedangkan hasil uji korelasi Pearson tidak didapatkan perbedaan yang bermakna secara statistik antara kadar Hb (p=0,08) dengan skor TB. Uji regresi linier menunjukkan tidak ada pengaruh yang bermakna dari seng serum (p=0,05), Hb dan feritin terhadap skor TB (p =0,34) dan (p=0,13). Simpulan : Tidak terdapat pengaruh yang bermakna antara kadar seng serum dengan TB paru anak. Kata kunci : Kadar seng, TB paru, anak

    Chinese literary works translated into Baba Malay: a bibliographical study

    Analyses 68 unique titles of Baba translated works published between 1889 and 1950. The titles are held in the libraries of the University of Malaya (UM), Science University Malaysia (USM), National University of Malaysia (UKM), the Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), National University of Singapore (NUS), National Library of Singapore (NLS) and the British Library (BL). The results reveal three periods of active publication of Baba translated works. A total of 18 works were translated before World War I, followed by 10 just after the war, 39 titles were published before the break of the World War II and 1 was identified in 1950. There were 103 persons involved in the 68 translated works, some of whom are responsible for more than one title. The most prominent translators were Chan Kim Boon, Wan Boon Seng, Seow Chin San and Lee Seng Poh. Some of the translators were also be editors, illustrators or editors. There were 31 publishers and 21 printing presses involved, all were located in Singapore. The most active publishers were Wan Boon Seng, Kim Seck Chy Press and Nanyang Romanised Malay Book Co. The translated works mainly cover historical classical Chinese stories, chivalrous stories, romances, folklore and legends. The titles were priced between 10 cents to 2 dollars in Straits currency.     The 1961 Kampong Bukit Ho Swee fire and the making of modern Singapore

    By 1970, Singapore’s urban landscape was dominated by high-rise blocks of planned public housing built by the People’s Action Party government, signifying the establishment of a high modernist nation-state. A decade earlier, the margins of the City had been dominated by kampongs, home to semi-autonomous communities of low-income Chinese families which freely built, and rebuilt, unauthorised wooden houses. This change was not merely one of housing but belied a more fundamental realignment of state-society relations in the 1960s. Relocated in Housing and Development Board flats, urban kampong families were progressively integrated into the social fabric of the emergent nation-state. This study examines the pivotal role of an event, the great Kampong Bukit Ho Swee fire of 1961, in bringing about this transformation. The redevelopment of the fire site in the aftermath of the calamity brought to completion the British colonial regime’s ‘emergency’ programmes of resettling urban kampong dwellers in planned accommodation, in particular, of building emergency public housing on the sites of major fires in the 1950s. The PAP’s far greater political resolve, and the timing of and state of emergency occasioned by the scale of the 1961 disaster, enabled the government to rehouse the Bukit Ho Swee fire victims in emergency housing in record time. This in turn provided the HDB with a strategic platform for clearing other kampongs and for transforming their residents into model citizens of the nation-state. The 1961 fire’s symbolic usefulness extended into the 1980s and beyond, in sanctioning the PAP’s new housing redevelopment schemes. The official account of the inferno has also become politically useful for the government of today for disciplining a new generation of Singaporeans against taking the nation’s progress for granted. Against these exalted claims of the fire’s role in the Singapore Story, this study also examines the degree of actual change and continuity in the social and economic lives of the people of Bukit Ho Swee after the inferno. In some crucial ways, the residents continued to occupy a marginal place in society while pondering, too, over the unresolved question of the cause of the fire. These continuities of everyday life reflect the ambivalence with which the citizenry regarded the high modernist state in contemporary Singapore

    Baterai merupakan sel elektrokimia yang menghasilkan energi listrik. Baterai seng-karbon menghasilkan voltase sebesar 1,5 Volt. Baterai tersebut menggunakan seng sebagai anoda dan Mn02 sebagai katoda. Logam seng mempu-nyai potensial reduksi standar sebesar -0,76 Volt. Dengan mengganti anoda seng memekai aluminium yang memiliki potensial reduksi standar -1,66 Volt, maka voltase bate¬rai akan menjadi 2,4 Volt, tetapi dalam penelitian hanya 1,585 Volt. Untuk mengetahui penggunaan aluminium sebgai elek-troda dilakukan percobaan yaitu melepas elektroda seng dan mengganti dengan lempeng aluminium. Kemudian diukur voltase dan kuat arusnya. Untuk mengetahui reaksi yang terjadi pada anoda dilakukan identifikasi cairan yang keluar dari baterai. Penelitian menhasilkan voltase dan kuat anus baterai aluminium lebih rendah dari bateari seng. Hal ini dapat terjadi karena pemasangan yang kurang sempurna. Dari penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa voltase dan kuat anus baterai tak hanya ditentukan oleh rekasi redoks, tetapi oleh reaksi lain yang sangat kompleks. Pengaruh teknis perakiatan baterai juga mempengaruhi voltase dan kuat anus baterai. Pada 'baterai seng, seng diubah menjadi Zn2 di anoda. Pada baterai aluminium Al diubah menjadi A13'. Aliminium produts lower voltage and electrical current than zink battery. This case can happen if anoda installation does not perfect. It can concluded that voltage and electrical current of battery just does not only determine by redokx reaction. But it also determine by another reaction which very complex. Organizing battery influences the voltage and electrical current of battery. In a zink battery, the zink will be changed into Zn2+ in the anode.     Perolehan Kembali Seng Dari Limbah Industri Galvanis Sebagai Seng Asetat

    Seng dross merupakan hasil samping dari industri pelapisan logam (galvanis) dengan proses hot-dip dan mempunyai kandungan seng yang cukup tinggi. Hasil samping ini dapat digunakan sebagai bahan baku seng asetat. Seng asetat digunakan sebagai bahan tambahan makanan, suplemen, obat-obatan, precursor, dan pelega tenggorokan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh kembali seng dari seng dross untuk menghasilkan seng asetat. Seng asetat tersebut akan digunakan sebagai precursor. Proses ekstraksi seng dross dilakukan dengan asam asetat glasial pada kondisi proses, yaitu waktu ekstraksi 1 jam, 2 jam, dan 3 jam, suhu ekstraksi 130 oC, 150 oC, dan 170 oC, serta konsentrasi asam asetat glasial 20%, 40%, dan 60%. Hasil ekstraksi berupa seng asetat dianalisis untuk mengetahui kadar seng dan karakteristik kristal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kondisi proses ekstraksi yang terbaik diperoleh pada suhu 130 oC, konsentrasi asam asetat glasial sebesar 60%, dan waktu proses ekstraksi selama 1 jam. Seng asetat yang diperoleh mengandung 75,39% seng dan kristal seng asetat mempunyai intensitas 5800 counts.
