Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

A solar storm observed from the Sun to Venus using the STEREO, Venus Express, and MESSENGER spacecraft
The suite of SECCHI optical imaging instruments on the STEREO-A spacecraft is used to track a solar storm, consisting of several coronal mass ejections (CMEs) and other coronal loops, as it propagates from the Sun into the heliosphere during May 2007. The 3-D propagation path of the largest interplanetary CME (ICME) is determined from the observations made by the SECCHI Heliospheric Imager (HI) on STEREO-A (HI-1/2A). Two parts of the CME are tracked through the SECCHI images, a bright loop and a V-shaped feature located at the rear of the event. We show that these two structures could be the result of line-of-sight integration of the light scattered by electrons located on a single flux rope. In addition to being imaged by HI, the CME is observed simultaneously by the plasma and magnetic field experiments on the Venus Express and MESSENGER spacecraft. The imaged loop and V-shaped structure bound, as expected, the flux rope observed in situ. The SECCHI images reveal that the leading loop-like structure propagated faster than the V-shaped structure, and a decrease in in situ CME speed occurred during the passage of the flux rope.We interpret this as the result of the continuous radial expansion of the flux rope as it progressed outward through the interplanetary medium. An expansion speed in the radial direction of ~30 km s-1 is obtained directly from the SECCHI-HI images and is in agreement with the difference in speed of the two structures observed in situ. This paper shows that the flux rope location can be determined from white light images, which could have important space weather applications
Secchi disk data collection for the North Sea and Baltic Sea
This paper presents the results of a Secchi depth data mining study for the North Sea - Baltic Sea region. 40,829 measurements of Secchi depth were compiled from the area as a result of this study. 4.3% of the observations were found in the international data centers [ICES Oceanographic Data Center in Denmark and the World Ocean Data Center A (WDC-A) in the USA], while 95.7% of the data was provided by individuals and ocean research institutions from the surrounding North Sea and Baltic Sea countries. Inquiries made at the World Ocean Data Center B (WDC-B) in Russia suggested that there could be significant additional holdings in that archive but, unfortunately, no data could be made available. The earliest Secchi depth measurement retrieved in this study dates back to 1902 for the Baltic Sea, while the bulk of the measurements were gathered after 1970. The spatial distribution of Secchi depth measurements in the North Sea is very uneven with surprisingly large sampling gaps in the Western North Sea. Quarterly and annual Secchi depth maps with a 0.5° x 0.5° spatial resolution are provided for the transition area between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea (4°E-16°E, 53°N-60°N)
Artificial neural network onto eight bit microcontroller for Secchi depth calculation
In this paper we present a model to predict Secchi depth in water bodies by means of an artificial neural network application onto eight bit microcontroller. Water turbidity data were collected by both a Secchi disk and a new patented device (named LUZEX) that uses commercial photodiodes with not monochromatic sensitive band as a basis to perform "in situ" measurements for sunlight extinction coefficients. In order to have a wide range of turbidity data three different water bodies were selected to do the measurements. The developed neural network model is able to relate well the data obtained by these methods and the obtained value for regression coefficient (R) is 0.998. Secchi depth measure is a reference method to determine turbidity in continental and coastal water bodies, especially in the Mediterranean Sea region, but sometimes there are particular cases that makes difficult the use of the Secchi disk (e.g. shallow water bodies), the authors propose LUZEX as a substitute for Secchi disk when it is difficult or impossible to use. © 2011 Elsevier B.V.Ibáñez Civera, FJ.; García Breijo, E.; Laguarda Miró, N.; Gil Sánchez, L.; Garrigues Baixauli, J.; Romero Gil, I.; Masot Peris, R.... Representação social e imagem do corpo feminino

Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia.Este trabalho é resultado de uma pesquisa de Mestrado em Psicologia, na qual o tema central é a imagem corporal e as representações sociais. A imagem corporal vem sendo estudada desde a década de 40, mas hoje com o aumento de pessoas com transtornos ligados a imagem corporal, fez com que esse tema tivesse mais evidência também na área científica. A padronização do modelo ideal de corpo, cada vez mais exigente por parte das mulheres, tem levado a um ideal de magreza. E as mulheres, para acompanharem este "modelo ideal" acabam aderindo a dietas rigorosas e prejudiciais, ao invés de proporcionarem saúde, desenvolvem distorções da imagem corporal, além de distúrbios alimentares como anorexia e bulimia. Para conhecer mais sobre essa realidade, realizou-se um estudo sistemático sobre o senso comum, no qual se investigou, como se constituem as representações sociais do corpo feminino de estudantes universitárias. Foram criados três grupos específicos: estudantes universitárias dos cursos de psicologia, educação física e moda (num total de 278 participantes), tentando investigar a possível influência que estas formações profissionais poderiam ter nas representações sociais e na imagem do corpo feminino para esses grupos. A escolha desses três cursos justificou-se pela possível afinidade que as universitárias poderiam ter com conceitos como: estética, imagem corporal, saúde, beleza e representações. Os instrumentos de coleta foram três tipos diferentes de questionário, cada qual englobando um contexto diferente na sua introdução (tema saúde, tema beleza, e um controle com tema corpo), porém com as mesmas perguntas. Para a análise qualitativa e quantitativa dos dados foi utilizado um software de análise quantitativa de dados textuais (ALCESTE), além do software SPSS-11, com os testes: anova, de correlação e qui-quadrado. Os resultados sugerem que as universitárias compartilham vários aspectos/conceitos da representação social de corpo: beleza e aparência física, tidas como a primeira característica pessoal que se destaca na relação social e enquanto objeto de atração entre as pessoas; existência de padrões/modelos de beleza, relacionados ao corpo feminino, estipulados socialmente e simbolizados pela magreza; corpo vinculado à saúde; e corpo bonito como sinônimo de status e poder direcionados ao campo pessoal e profissional. Por meio da análise dos dados constatou-se que as estudantes do curso de Psicologia, Educação Física e Moda têm preocupação com a imagem corporal. De modo geral, apesar de perceberem seu corpo como normal (nem magro, nem gordo), estão insatisfeitas com sua imagem corporal. Mesmo as universitárias com IMC abaixo do ideal conforme a OMS (universitárias magras) sentem-se pouco satisfeitas com seu corpo
Concorso Internazionale ad inviti "MEP Projet Pôle Gare", Losanna
Le programme des CFF Léman 2030 va transformer la gare de Lausanne et ses interfaces afin de doubler sa capacité d’accueil. Cette transformation agira sur le coeur de l’agglomération comme un véritable détonateur du développement urbain. Dans ce contexte, l’aménagement des espaces publics devra être revu au Nord comme au Sud des voies. La première étape porte sur le projet de réaménagement de la Place de la Gare et un concept directeur des espaces publics du Pôle Gare.
Pour développer cette étude, la ville a choisi la procédure du mandat d’études parallèles (MEP). 32 groupements ont répondu à l’appel à candidatures pour ce MEP, lancé en mars 2015. Sur recommandation d’une délégation du jury, présidé par Monsieur Olivier Français, municipal en charge de la Direction des travaux, la Municipalité a finalement retenu les six groupements suivants.

Il Volume ospita anche i contributi di studiosi e professionisti impegnati in analoghe attività scientifiche e progettuali, al fine di comporre lo Stato dell'Arte riferito alla pianificazione urbanistica e, per i contesti urbani di interesse storico, alla disciplina del restauro architettonico e urbano. In questo ambito, Antonio Pugliano tende a sottolineare l'importanza della documentazione dei lessici costruttivi locali al fine di dedurre norme tecniche di attuazione dei piani che siano in grado di tutelare l'architettura della tradizione, conservandola nella pienezza dei suoi significati linguistici e dei valori culturali di cu essa è espressione
