Modelling Interregional Trade of Energy Crops in Eastern Germany
Renewable resources gain in importance in our modern society. The line of reasoning is based on their positive effects on agriculture, the environment and the economy. To support renewable energy from biomass the EU promotes the cultivation of energy crops. A spatial equilibrium model is applied based on the concept of maximizing net welfare, to provide information whether energy crop production competes with food production for land area. The Model of Interregional Trade of Energy Crops (ITEC) refers to Eastern Germany and adjacent areas of Poland. First results show that the regions have enough feedstocks to meet the required demand for food and biofuel production. In many cases both food crops and biofuels are either traded on interregional basis or exported to "Rest of Europe" indicating that there is no competition between food and energy crops. Only green maize for biogas production strongly competes in areas where the crop is required as feed for cattle.Energy crops, spatial equilibrium analysis, interregional trade, International Relations/Trade,
V. BRUSOV'S LETTERS SENT TO I. BRUSOVA FROM PARIS (1909). INTRODUCTORY REMARKS, TRANSLATION AND NOTES BY NATALIA KHACHATRYAN (YEREVAN)
The author publishes a number of letters V. Brusov sent to his spouse, I. Brusova, from Paris. The correspondence provides the writer’s insight of the city, his impressions of the meetings with René Gillet, Charles Vildrac, Paul Boyer, Konstantin Balmont. He also informed his wife of fashion and hairstyle trends and attached the magazines clippings. The correspondence also reveals V. Brusov’s engagement in some remarkable events, such as aviator flights
Restless legs syndrome: Over 50 years of European contribution.
Restless legs syndrome (RLS) is a sensorimotor neurological disorder characterised by an urge to move the limbs with a circadian pattern (occurring in the evening/at night), more prominent at rest, and relieved with movements. RLS is one of the most prevalent sleep disorders, occurring in 5%-10% of the European population. Thomas Willis first described RLS clinical cases already in the 17th century, and Karl-Axel Ekbom described the disease as a modern clinical entity in the 20th century. Despite variable severity, RLS can markedly affect sleep (partly through the presence of periodic leg movements) and quality of life, with a relevant socio-economic impact. Thus, its recognition and treatment are essential. However, screening methods present limitations and should be improved. Moreover, available RLS treatment options albeit providing sustained relief to many patients are limited in number. Additionally, the development of augmentation with dopamine agonists represents a major treatment problem. A better understanding of RLS pathomechanisms can bring to light novel treatment possibilities. With emerging new avenues of research in pharmacology, imaging, genetics, and animal models of RLS, this is an interesting and constantly growing field of research. This review will update the reader on the current state of RLS clinical practice and research, with a special focus on the contribution of European researchers

On the solutions to the multi-parametric Yang–Baxter equations
AbstractA unified approach is applied in the consideration of the multi-parametric (colored) Yang–Baxter equations (YBE) and the usual YBE with two-parametric R-matrices, relying on the existence of the arbitrary functions in the general solutions. The colored YBE are considered with the R-matrices defined on two and three-dimensional states. We present an exhaustive study and the overall solutions for the YBE with 4×4 colored R-matrices. The established classification includes new multi-parametric free fermionic solutions. In the context of the given approach there are obtained the colored solutions to the YBE with 9×9 R-matrices having 15 non-zero elements
V. BRUSOV’S REVIEW OF THE THREE PLAYS STAGED IN PARIS
The paper deals with V. Brusov’s review «Paris Theaters» published in the sixth issue of Vesy (The Balance) magazine in 1904. The review deals with the three plays, namely, «Philippe II» by Emile Verhaeren and «Polyphème» by Albert Samain, staged in the Théâtre de l'OEuvre, as well as «Electra» by Benito Pérez Galdós, staged in the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin. According to the paper’s author, the review is noteworthy since it represents the writer’s first impression of Paris theaters. The author outlines the reviews’ salience: V. Brusov was a connoisseur of the French literature and culture and took for granted that the readers had read the dramas by French playwrights, consequently, he expressed a sample and value judgement
