Search for exotic production of top quarks decaying into same-sign leptons at 13 TeV
The signature of two same-sign leptons and b-jets is a golden channel for the search for exotic productions of top quarks because of the low background from Standard Model. The main sources of background of same-sign leptons comes from lepton charge mis-reconstruction and fake/non-prompt leptons. Therefore, sophisticated data-driven techniques are needed to accurately estimate them. This contribution will give a complete description of the analysis strategy and will describe the different techniques used to estimate the backgrounds. Limits extracted for various models beyond the Standard Model will be shown with the 2015 proton-proton collisions data recorded at sqrt{s}=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
Reflection from Kant to Fichte through Marx
My objective in this article is to discuss the interpretation on Fichte proposed by Rubens Torres Filho in his doctoral thesis, entitled O Espírito e a Letra (The Spirit and the Letter) (1975), in which the author took a different stance from those taken by M. Gueroult, R. Lauth and A. Philonenko. I attempt to reconstruct the intelectual constellation in which Rubens Torres Filho`s reading was carried out, pointing to its debt with the ongoing debate at the University of São Paulo in the 60s, concerning Gérard Lebrun, José A. Giannotti and Bento Prado Jr
Search for exotic production of top quarks decaying into same-sign leptons at 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
The signature of same-sign leptons and b-jets is a golden channel in the search for exotic production of top quarks. Ones of the main sources of background of same-sign leptons come from detector effects: leptons with mis-reconstructed charge and fake/non-prompt leptons. Sophisticated data-driven techniques are needed to accurately estimate them. A description of the analysis strategy and of the different techniques used to estimate the background are given here. Limits extracted for various models beyond the Standard Model are shown with the 2015 proton-proton collisions data recorded at TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider
Search for pair production of new particles in ATLAS
With the advent of 13 TeV collisions and the start of Run 2 of the LHC, the potential to directly observe new particles produced in pairs has been greatly increased. This presentation will discuss a recent search from the ATLAS collaboration searching for pair production of new particles using the Run 2 dataset
Abstract : The Fontamara novel, by Italian writer Ignazio Silone (1900-1978), is first published in 1933, by Verlag Oprecht und Helbling from Zurich, with a translation into German by Nettie Sutro. For political and ideological reasons, the text is prevented from circulating officially inside the Italian literary system, during the years of fascism. The author himself experiences a period of exile and cannot return to Italy, where he would be arrested by the fascist police, under the accusation of being a subversive element. In Brazil, the novel is translated by Aristides Lobo and published by Cultura Política in 1935, two years after its first edition. While considering the political tensions and social and economic changes taking place in Brazil in the 30s, and the role of translated literature within a culture, this study investigates the main motivations that lead to the publication of Fontamara in 1935, in Brazil. These reflections are made from the perspective of translation as rewriting, a conjecture proposed among other theorists by André Lefevere (2007), who deals with the role of rewriting within a literary system. The complex process of translation involves both the figure of the translator (rewriter ), as a mediator, as well as that of other agents who determine what kind of text may or may not circulate among the reading public, according to a scheme that Lefevere calls the patronage system
The universality of judgement of taste in Kant\' s work
The universality of judgement of taste has none objective principle because does not intend to determine any object. Nevertheless, in order to assure its necessity and to escape from the experience\'s contingency, this universality supports itself in exemplary principle of common sense (Gemeinsinn), in other words, in a subjective principle which determines what is pleasure or not, only by feeling and not by concept. Although, under the presupposition of a universal agreement regarding what is beautiful, the necessity in this judgement acquires an objective representation based on our feeling\'s ground. It is in this deduction of this ground of sensus communis that concentrates our effort in this dissertation, because we will try to demonstrate that it courses through the entire Critique of Aesthetic Judgement
Macro- and microvascular functions in cystic fibrosis adults without cardiovascular risk factors: A case-control study
Increasing survival from cystic fibrosis show untypical systems involvement, such as cardiocirculatory. In particular, the presence of CFTR in smooth muscle and endothelial cells, systemic inflammation and oxidative stress could explain vascular alterations in these patients. We aimed at noninvasely evaluating macro- and microvascular dysfunction in cystic fibrosis adults without cardiovascular risk factors. Twenty-twoadults affected by cystic fibrosis and 24 healthy volunteers matched for age and sex were enrolled. None had known cardiovascular risk factors. All people underwent blood pressure measurement, microvascular function assessment by EndoPAT-2000 device (calculating RH-PAT index) and macrovascular evaluation by pulse wave velocity (PWV). RH-PAT index was significantly lower in patients than in controls (1.74±0.59 vs 2.33±0.34; p<0.001). Thirteen patients of 22 had a value inferior to the threshold of 1.67 (59.1%), while no controls had (p<0.001). Carotid-femoral PWV did not differ between the two groups (5.2±1.5 m/s vs 5.4±1.1; p=0.9), while brachial-ankle one did (11.0±2.2 m/s vs 10.1±0.8 m/s; p=0.04).Adults patients affected by cystic fibrosis show peripheral endothelial dysfunction, which is the first alteration in atherosclerotic phenomenon. Moreover, arterial stiffness measured by PWV unclearly seems to differ respect of healthy people, perhaps because PWV alterations are typical of above 50 years old people. It is unclear what prognostic role of future developing of atherosclerotic disease these findings could be, but it seems evident that cystic fibrosis directly affects cardiovascular system itself
