J.V. Foix, Gertrduis. KRTU
This bilingual edition of J. V. Foix's first two books, Gertrudis (1927) and KRTU (1932), translated by Antonio Jiménez Millán, includes a presentation and critical reading of the texts by Enric Bou. By vindicating the originality of this writer, who described himself as a "researcher in poetry", justice is done to two fundamental texts of the Iberian and European avant-garde, which, published in editions of only a hundred copies, had a very limited diffusion. They are books of surrealist prose poetry that illustrate an aspect of the author's characteristic duplicity. J. V. Foix was the pseudonym used by Josep Vicenç Foix i Mas (1893-1987), one of the most singular writers of 20th century Catalan literature. Author of a highly experimental poetry, he achieved a subtle, conceptual and formal combination of ancient and modern values, confirmed in the final verse of one of his sonnets: "m'exalta el nou i m'enamora el vell" ("I am exalted by the new and in love with the old")
J.V. Foix, traductor de T.S. Eliot (1927)
L’interès d’Eliot i Foixper Guido Cavalcanti és remarcable, i tal vegada remet a Rémy de Gourmont. This article argues that J.V. Eliot and Foix’s common interest in Guido Cavalcanti is worthy of note, and is perhaps rooted in Rémy de Gourmont

Llull llegit per Xènius i J.V. Foix: “homenatge filial” a un “sempre vivent”
Ramon Llull is the quintessential classic writer of Catalan literature. This article discusses several texts by Ors and Foix in which they express innovative opinions on Llull’s work from a non-specialist perspective but from devoted readers. These are forms of dialogue with a classic author, the great classic. Eugeni d'Ors and J.V. Foix, in very different ways and at different times, defended the need for a total reading of Ramon Llull’s work, not the adoption of partial readings of Llull’s work but a reading that would address Llull’s work as a whole
Eugeni d’Ors i J.V. Ramon Llull is the quintessential classic writer of Catalan literature. A Multi-pronged Approach to Promote Pedagogical Innovation and Distance Learning in Higher Education
© The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025 // Book Springer Jisc (Sherpa): https://openpolicyfinder.jisc.ac.uk/id/publisher/62037In an ever-changing society, it is of utmost importance that education offers methods and tools that foster a more dynamic and participatory teaching and learning experience, tailored to the needs of today's students. Consequently, the pursuit and implementation of active learning and distance learning approaches have become imperative in higher education. This study presents effective practices devised at a Higher Education Institution in Portugal, aimed at promoting pedagogical innovation among faculty members and enhancing distance learning. The work highlights various activities that support digital empowerment, as well as strategic research and development initiatives, which can serve as valuable guidelines for other higher education institutions. Furthermore, drawing upon three years of collected data, the impact of these activities on the faculty, the institution, and the community was evaluated. Overall, the results demonstrate that the multi-pronged approach has had a positive influence on teaching practices and has positively affected the organizational dynamics. It underscores the critical nature of continuous investment in specialized training and research and development endeavours
Bioreduction Of α-haloacetophenones By Rhodotorula Glutinis Andgeotrichum Candidum
Enantioselective reductions with enantiocomplementarity of α-haloacetophenones by Rhodotorula glutinis CCT 2182 and Geotrichum candidum CCT 1205 afforded the corresponding (R)- and (S)-halohydrins (halo = Cl, Br and I), respectively, in high chemical yields (89-99%) and enantiomeric excesses (92-99%). These halohydrins are potential chiral building blocks for the stereoselective syntheses of valuable compounds.200310404410Carvalho, M., Okamoto, M.T., Moran, P.J.S., Rodrigues, J.A.R., (1991) Tetrahedron, 47, pp. 2073-2080Sorrilha, A.E.P.M., Marques, M., Joekes, I., Moran, P.J.S., Rodrigues, J.A.R., (1992) Bioorg. Us and Them : inter-cultural trade and the Sephardim, 1595-1640
Traditional histories of Early Modern trade and trade networks have ignored a potent truth -- that trade, and the networks constructed for the pursuit of this trade, were far more fluid and far more open to merchants of varying backgrounds than has heretofore been admitted. It is this idea that undergirds this work. This study shows that economic links between networks comprised of a multiplicity of ethnicities, backgrounds, and/or religions were mutually beneficial and often long-lasting by delving deeply into the networks employed by three Sephardic merchants in Amsterdam between 1595 and 1640 – Manoel Rodrigues Vega, Manoel Carvalho, and Bento Osorio.LEI Universiteit LeidenColonial and Global Histor
