O nascimento de um autor
Fernando Pessoa’s work constantly evokes authorship questions, mainly because it was assigned to different heteroryms and was left unpublished at the time of his death. The word “author” is seldom used in an explicit way by Pessoa, who often writes about the hero or the genius’s character. I will argue, in this article, that the Book of Disquietude was created in order to theorize and to prove what he could have defined as an exemplary author. I will thus try to justify the singularity of this book.
João Cabral do Nascimento: a contemporary author erased from a certain family portrait
João Cabral do Nascimento was a contemporary of some of the artists who, around the 1910s and the 1920s, sought to modernize their cultural systems, through modernist discourses and projects. This contemporaneity has been substantiated through Cabral de Nascimento’s contact with some of the most important artists of the period and through his effective participation (sometimes critical) in several of the events that, in Lisbon, as well as in Coimbra and Funchal, marked the different orientations of the Portuguese modernisms. Recovering both the Pessoan verb constellar-se, and the constellation image (also Benjaminian) to think about the relationship between texts and authors, this article revisits several chronicles and critical texts by Cabral de Nascimento, to discuss his heterogeneous modernist contemporaneity and the silence that has fallen on the work of the author from Madeira.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Scape subequal in length to antennomere III; antennomere III with equal length of IV; remaining antennomeres gradually shorter. Prothorax length about 2/3 of its width; lateral median tubercle round and flattened. Anterior pronotum region with two high tubercles and row of punctures on posterior margin. Prosternal and mesosternal process flat, with elevated edges. Width of prosternal process approximately 1/4 diameter of a procoxal cavity. Width of mesosternal process approximately 1/5 diameter of a mesocoxal cavity. Metasternal suture reaching apex of anterior metasternal projection. Scutellum rounded at apex. Elytra with subparallel sides at anterior 2/3; length approximately 3.5 times length of prothorax; centro-basal region with prominence ridges and erect bristles blackened at apex. Elytral apices obliquely truncated with external spine and spicule in sutural angle. Metatarsomere I as long as following segments added together. Fifth sternite approximately 1.5 longer than fourth, subtrapezoidal and notched. Measurements, in mm. Holotype male, total length, 7.2; prothoracic length, 1.4; prothorax greater width 2.0; elytral length, 5.2; humeral width, 2.7. Etymology. The name is a reference to the absence of maculae on the pronotum and elytra. Type material. Holotype, male, Brazil, Ceará; Quixadá (Serra do Urucu), 05°54’18” S 39°50’46” W, 780 m, 02.IX.2013. Carvalho J.R., Bravo F., Menezes E., Nascimento F.E. & Cordeiro D. col. (MNRJ). Remarks. The genus Lathroeus Thomson, 1864 was created to allocate Lathroeus oreoderoides Thomson, 1864. Lathroeus oreoderoides was described from a single specimen, and the author did not indicate the type locality. Recently, a second specimen was collected in Bolivia (Wappes et al. 2013). Melzer (1932) described the second species of the genus, Lathroeus mysticus Melzer, 1932 from Brazil. Monné (2001), published a synopsis of the genus, providing an identification key to the species. Lathroeus immaculatus sp. nov. resembles L. mysticus by the dimensions of the body, but differs mainly by the centro-basal proeminence of the elytra, that in the new species have blackish and erect bristles on it (Fig. 6), whereas in L. mysticus such bristles are missing. Furthermore, Lathroeus immaculatus sp. nov. can be easily distinguished from both species of the genus by the absence of dark maculae on the prothorax and elytra.Published as part of Nascimento, Francisco E. Abdias Nascimento : Esclavage, post-abolition et émancipation
This article proposes a reading of the reflections and forms of political and cultural actualization of a thinker in the contemporary Black movement of Brazil, namely Abdias Nascimento. The political writings of this author help retrace interpretations of actions carried out in the struggle against the discrimination that followed and is still following the post-abolitionist experience. Adhering to the thought of decolonization, and subsequently Afrocentrism and Quilombism, which is a version of Pan-Africanism he created himself, has not prevented this diaspora intellectual from thinking about emancipation from the standpoint of the Latin American continent and Brazil more specifically. The perspective that slavery never ended, a leitmotiv of the contemporary Black movement in Brazil and of which Nascimento is a founding figure, allows a parallel to be drawn between the struggles of the Black movement and those of the contemporary anti-slavery movement.
Conhecendo Beatriz Nascimento: mulher negra, intelectual e quilombola
This paper aims at proposing a reading of the supposedly fictional book Retrato desnatural (diários - 2004 a 2007), by Evando Nascimento, published in 2008, by observing the way through which the author, in consonance with the notion of “writable text” by Roland Barthes, entertains a dialogue with diverse artistic lan- guages (plastic arts, music, theater, cinema, literature) as well as with the western philosophy. It will also be verified that this dialogue, on its turn, flows into the idea of expropriation of the subject, since the author recognizes, under the sign of the "self", the innumerable traces of the others in his writing. The copious "mes" that integrate the manufacturing of the self-portrait, vestiges left by the other in the self, compose an exact image of his innate movability - pantomimes of the author/actor exhibiting multiple interversions, redefining the task of self-reengen- dering through writing, by postulating that "everything then are daily fictions, that is, infictions, slips, rollings of an I and its others. Until when." (Nascimento, 2008, p. 160). Singular snapshots showing us, readers/spectators, their only pos- sible face: an unnatural portrait
The objective of this work is to analyze the contribution of the book "Quilombismo" by Abdias Nascimento to International Relations, through the perspective of the author in Panafricanism. The research is qualitative and based on bibliographical research using the hypothetical-deductive method. Its nature is exploratory, seeking to base the conceptions of several authors on the subject in question. The research is divided into three chapters. In the first chapter, a brief summary of the life story of Abdias Nascimento is presented, which is important to understand his participation in the black movements. In the second chapter, the concept of quilombismo and the construction of the work in the midst of its exile are explored, as well as the influences that permeate it. Finally, the last chapter reproduces the historicity of PanAfricanism and Abdias Nascimento's connection within the international community between the United States and some African countries, highlighting his participation in various lectures on anti-racist issues.O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a contribuição da obra "Quilombismo" de Abdias Nascimento para as Relações Internacionais, através da perspectiva do autor no pan-africanismo. Abdias do Nascimento on the Museum of Black Art
This is the second article that Abdias do Nascimento published about the Museu de Arte Negra (MAN) in 1968, plus his reflections when he republished it in 1980. In the first section, he reports on the creation and development of MAN in Rio de Janeiro from 1950 onwards, presenting justifications for its creation by art critics, intellectuals, and artists. The author also comments on Rubem Valentim’s work as an example of how MAN could be a cultural bridge between Black Africa and Brazil and on José Heitor’s sculptures as an example of the conservation of African visual techniques and conceptions in the country. In the second part of the essay, Nascimento reevaluates his optimism regarding the understanding and support of the government and the ruling class of Brazil. Based on his experience as a self-exile in the U.S. from 1968 and in the context of the struggle of Pan-Africanism, he criticizes the colonialism inherent in the conception of a universal civilization. In addition to pointing out the need to train Afro-descendant theorists and art critics, he mentions other artists (Francisco Chagas, Valentim da Fonseca e Silva, Antônio Francisco Lisboa, Estevão Silva, e Pedro Américo), highlighting the urgent need to survey Africans’ and Afro-descendants’ creations in Brazil
