Reinhard Köhler's Scientific Production: Words, Numbers and Pictures, di Arjuna Tuzzi
This study draws upon statistical analysis techniques of textual data to examine a corpus composed of 22 research articles published between 1997 and 2010 by Reinhard Köhler as a single author or in collaboration with other scholars. The aim of this article is to draw a representation of the main areas of interest of his research. After having drawn an overall representation of the corpus, Köhler’s latest work – an unpublished volume on Quantitative Syntax Analysis – was analysed to understand its role within the context of his research
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
METAPHYSICAL PRINCIPLES OF CHRISTIAN PHILOSOPHY
Rad ne sadrži sažetak. In this essay, the topic which will be discussed is ,,The Metaphysical Beginings of Christian Philospohy.“ I have used the literature of few authors but the main author whose literature was used during writing of this essay is Étienne Gilson, and his book ,,Introduction in Christian Philospohy.“ He was a French philosopher who was born on 13 of June 1884, and died 19 September 1978. Also he was a historian of philosophy and a scholar of medieval philosophy. He originally specialised in the thought of Descartes, yet also philosophized in the tradition of Thomas Aquinas, although he did not consider himself either a neo-Scholastic or neo-Thomist philosopher. He was a member of French Academie and he was nominated for the Nobel prize in Literature. As we said his focus was on the philosophy of middle ages. Gilson finds medieval philosophy as a true rational philosophy based on rational arguments which even Descartes uses in his philosophical speculation. Of all medieval authors Gilson mainly sutdies st. Thomas Aquinas whose philosophy and metaphysics he deeply appreciates. Also, another author that we will refer to is Hrvoje Relja, a university professor in Split, and in Italy. We will refer to his books called ,,Tomistic Philosophy“ Volume 1., and Volume 2. Furthermore we will try to show metaphysical beginings of christian philospohy, and a method of understanding that metaphysical beginings of christian philospohy. To count shortly these metaphysical beginings of christian philospohy, they are - universal cause, participation, substance and accidents, essence and Being. Also, based on teachings of st. Thomas Aquinas we will try to explain how these metaphysical beginings of christian philospohy are in fact one, and united in the term of God. This essay also discusses term of christian philosophy, term of Absolute, the so-called ,,Secret of God's freedom“ in making the world, about creation ,,Ex nihilo“, and about the purpose and goals of man and the universe. All of these topics are based on medieval philosophy, and this essay is also a way to show medieval philosophy not as dark scholastic philosophy, but as enlightning, modern, purpose giving philosophy

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Between Rights and Remedies: The Access to Investment Treaty Arbitration as a Substantive Right of Foreign Investors
peer reviewedArbitrators in investment treaty arbitration have not been reluctant to express their views that the access to international arbitration forms part of the substantive protection of investors. The present article examines what is the added legal value of such views, and whether they are capable of requalifying procedural rules as substantive ones, or alternatively, breaking the separation line between substantive and procedural rules. This is discussed in the context of the application of most-favoured-nation clauses to dispute settlement clauses, as a case study. It is argued that the arbitral qualification of dispute resolution clauses as a means of investors’ protection cannot prompt a change regarding their legal nature, and has primarily an instrumental role in legitimizing expansionary interpretive outcomes. But the fact that a blurred separation line between substantive and procedural rules appears acceptable in investment treaty arbitration implies fragmentation from general international law in that respect, effected through arbitral lawmaking
Transcendentals in Croatian Philosophy Textbooks
Tome Akvinskog i generacija tomista obogatila kompletni korpus filozofije. In this paper, Author explains basic metaphysical thoughts concernig medieval "transcendentals", trough works of modern Croatian Tomist's like Hrvoje Relja, Antun Bauer, Josip Stadler and Miljenko Belić. That insight into the transcendentals, given to us by medieval philosophy, allows us to further explore the fullness of being. In this study, first thing that author has discovered is the fact that "res" and "something" were not transcendental in the full sense. "Res" does not express some property of being, but is another name that is given to a being (not on basis of the Being), and as such cannot be transcribed to God. The "one" and "aliquid" add some negation to the beings. "Unity" denies the internal division of each being, and "alquid" negates the identity of one thing with others. Truth, goodness, and beauty are intellectual, not real relations that are accidental to being. This intellectual relation is directed toward "mind" and "will". When we talk about "good", we claim that some being is good, to the extent that it is desirable. Trough metaphysical observation philosophers have established, that everything that "is", is "good". Therefore it is clear, that a being, to the extent that it possesses the "Being", is also good. In the case of "truth," Croatian Tomists maintain opinion, that truth manifests itself in the act of "correspondence of reason with the subject". Therefore, just as it was the case with "good", the "truthfulness" of a being depends on the extent of its Being. Finally, "beauty", according to most authors, captures the characteristics of both "goodness" and "truth," accordingly, beauty, encompassing both "mind" and "will", relates to the whole spirit, and results in the feelings of pleasure and liking. In the last part of the paper, author mentions one specific "transcendental", that can be found in the works of Miljenko Belić - "dynamism". Studying the transcendentals in Croatian philosophical textbooks, author has had opportunity to scratch only a small portion of the famous "philosophia perennis - eternal philosophy", which elevated Western thought to, still unmatched intellectual heights, and which left many philosophers on still ongoing metaphysical journey of exploration
