POSSIBLE SUPERFINE AND HYPERFINE ROVIBRATIONAL STRUCTURES FOR FULLERENE ISOTOPOMERS AND DOPANTS: EXTREME SYMMETRY BREAKING EFFECTS

One per-cent natural abundance of Carbon-13 means about balf the sixty-Carbon fullerences have completely lost their extraordinary rotational symmetry. Also, since Carbon-12 nuclei are spin-0 a sixty-Carbon-12 fullerene is a perfect `Bose-Einstein ball’ which excludes all but scalar rovibronic symmetry states, but even one extra Carbon-13 completely breaks the Bose exclusion. The effects of isotopic and other types of doping on fullerene rovibrational levels is explored. A tensor model for centrifugal distortion is used to see the effects of doping on the rotational level fine structure. In spite of the extreme symmetry breaking there is still considerable order and near-degeneracy in the rotational spectrum. A semi-classical rotational energy surface picture helps to explain the structure. At the other extreme is the sixty-Carbon-13 molecule, a monstrous `Fermi-Dirac ball’ which is compared to sulfur hexafluoride. However, the hyperfine structure of the latter is dwarfed by the former which has over an octillion of nuclear spin . Perhaps they might be considered in the search for quantum computing elements

The aim of the article is to reflect on the degrowth strategy. Pointing out various difficulties, the author focuses on identifying the field that degrowth theories cannot ignore if they want to be effective: the dominant political economy. Following Marx's thought, the author argues that the mode of functioning of society adequate to the postulates of degrowth would have to be "narrowed reproduction." This is a difficult move because, in addition to the logic of accumulation, there is also the mechanism of alienation and our consumption habits to overcome. Only against this background can we look for examples of radical social change, the scale of which would meet the requirements of degrowth. According to the author, such an example may be the frequent abandonment of agriculture in the Neolithic era (Graeber, Wengrow). However, it is not about (impossible) repeating such a decision, but about the very ability to make it, as a cultural pattern. However, this means decapita(lisa)tion of capital. Celem artykułu jest namysł nad strategią dewzrostu. Wskazując rozmaite trudności, autor skupia się na wskazaniu pola, którego teorie dewzrostu nie mogą pomijać, jeśli chcą pretendować do skuteczności: to dominująca ekonomia polityczna. Podążając za myślą Marksa, autor argumentuje, że adekwatnym do postulatów dewzrostu trybem funkcjonowania społeczeństwa musiałaby być właściwie „reprodukcja zawężona”. To o tyle trudny ruch, że oprócz logiki akumulacji do przezwyciężenia jest także mechanizm alienacji oraz nasze konsumpcyjne nawyki. Dopiero na tym tle można szukać przykładów radykalnej, społecznej zmiany, której skala odpowiadałaby wymogom dewzrostu. Według autora przykładem takim może być częste w epoce neolitu odchodzenie od rolnictwa (Graeber, Wengrow). Nie chodzi tu jednak o (niemożliwe) powtórzenie takiej decyzji, a o samą zdolność do jej podjęcia. Oznacza to jednak dekapita(liza)cję kapitału.  
Holistic models of degradation processes in mechanical systems - an outline
W pracy dokonano przeglądu modelu teorii i zastosowań procesora energii o skończonym potencjale destrukcji. Najważniejszym zastosowaniem wszelkich odmian tego procesora jest możliwość holistycznego modelowania ewolucji i dynamiki części mechanicznej różnego typu systemów, również mechatronicznych. Idea procesora energii jest na tyle płodna i uniwersalna że można wykorzystać ją do modelowania jednomodalnego zużywania się materiału, z jednej strony, a z drugiej do modelowania samopodobnych hierarchicznie zorganizowanych systemów złożonych z możliwością analitycznego badania rozpływu energii.Mechanical subsystems are key elements of civil and mechanical engineering as well as mechatronic products. Independently of the size of subsystem they may limit the safety and functionality of the main system, so we have to know the long term and short term behavior of mechanical subsystem. The main idea of holistic modeling is illustrated in the paper, and energy processor model can be digested more from some references. But it seems to the author that inference properties of holistic modeling and energy processor models are not widely known and used. Due to its fractal properties, they can be used to model the behavior of the part as well as the whole system, enabling to trace the energy flow, dissipation and wear inside the system
Rewolucja cyfrowa w komunikacji naukowej – szanse i zagrożenia
W artykule omówiono czynniki przyspieszające i hamujące cyfryzację w komunikacji
naukowej. Według autora cyfryzacji sprzyjają: dynamiczny rozwój technologii
informatycznej, zwiększająca się rentowność przemysłu IT, rozbudowa repozytoriów nastawionych
na samopublikowanie (self-publishing), upowszechnianie wolnego dostępu do
źródeł (open access) oraz tzw. nauczanie na odległość (distance learning). W najbliższym
czasie proces cyfryzacji będzie jednak w dalszym ciągu hamowany przez starsze pokolenie
uczonych (tzw. digital imigrants), wydawnictwa i redakcje czasopism drukowanych,
przemysł poligrafi czny oraz postawy niektórych wykładowców w szkolnictwie różnych
szczebli. Czynniki hamujące cyfryzację nie są jednak na tyle istotne, by mogły zagrozić
przełomowi cyfrowemu w nauce. Według autora w drugiej połowie lat dwudziestych
obecnego wieku dokumenty analogowe nie będą już obecne w komunikacji naukowej.
Jednocześnie zaczną zanikać tradycyjne systemy informacyjne, takie jak np. biblioteki czy
czasopisma naukowe, które zastąpi globalna infrastruktura informacyjna udostępniająca
wielodziedzinową, wiarygodną i relewantną informację faktografi czną.(Digital Revolution in Scientifi c Communication – Opportunities and
Threats). The article discusses factors which accelerate and impede digitization in scientifi
c communication. The author claims that digitization is fostered by the rapid growth
of computer technology, the increasing profi tability of the IT industry, the development
of self-publishing oriented repositories, the dissemination of open access to sources and
distant learning. On the other hand, however, in the immediate future the digitization process
will still be impeded by the older generation of researchers (the so-called digital immigrants),
publishing houses and editorial boards of printed journals, the printing industry
and the attitudes of some lecturers at various levels of education. Nonetheless, the
digitization-impeding factors are not serious enough to prevent the digital breakthrough
in science. The author argues that the late 2020s will see the demise of analogue documents
in scientifi c communication. This will coincide with the disappearance of traditional
information systems, such as libraries or scientifi c and scholarly journals, which will be
replaced by a global information infrastructure offering multi-area, credible and relevant
factual information
Suberites topsenti Burton 1929
Suberites topsenti (Burton, 1929) (Figs. 16, 17) Synonymy Suberella topsenti — Burton 1929: 446, pl. IV (fig. 5). Laxosuberella topsenti— Burton 1930: 675. Suberites montiniger — Topsent 1915: 39 –40; Koltun 1964: 25 –26; 1976: 169. Suberites topsenti —van Soest 2002: 242. Material examined SMF 10582 (1 specimen): PS 67 /078 11; SMF 10583 –10584 (2 specimens): PS 67 / 110 2. Description External morphology. Sponges are compact, massive, irregularly shaped (figs. 16 A–C). The dimensions may reach 35 x 15 x 11 mm. Surface is minutely hispid or velvety, greycoloured, with a single osculum of 0.4– 1 mm in diameter. Consistency is dense and compressible. Skeleton. The choanosomal skeleton is dense, confusedly reticulate, constituted by long spicules (fig. 16 D). The ectosomal skeleton is made of the smaller spicules arranged in bouquets (fig. 16 E). Spicules. Altogether 130 spicules from 2 specimens were measured. Two size categories are well distinguished (fig. 17 A). The number of measured spicules of each category is given below, separately for each specimen (n 1, n 2). Both long and small spicules vary from tylostyles to subtylostyles. They are straight, more or less slender, with terminal lobate tyles (figs. 17 B–E). The long spicules measure: length 857 1092 1368 µm, tyle diameter 1418.8 22 µm, diameter of the shaft underneath the tyle 8 13.0 18 µm, maximal diameter of the shaft 8 14.0 19 µm (n 1 = 40, n 2 = 30). The dimensions of the small spicules are: length 300479 743 µm, tyle diameter 14 17.0 27 µm, diameter of the shaft underneath the tyle 812.4 19 µm, maximal diameter of the shaft 1113.4 22 µm (n 1 = 30, n 2 = 30). Type locality: Antarctic: Ross Sea: McMurdo Sound, depth unknown. Distribution: Antarctic: Antarctic nearcontinent sectors (as S. montiniger: Koltun 1964; Sarà et al. 1992): NN 3 and 5 including the Western Ross Sea, as deep as 700 m. Northern Weddell Sea, ca. 2150–4700 m (present study). SW Atlantic: Burdwood Bank, 102 m (as S. montiniger: Topsent 1915); Magellan area, Falkland Islands (as S. montiniger: Sarà et al., 1992). Remarks In 1929 Burton erected a genus Suberella for a new species, S. topsenti described by him from McMurdo Sound, Antarctica. He also allocated the Antarctic specimens, previously identified by Topsent (1915) as Suberites montiniger Carter, 1880, to Suberella topsenti. In fact, S. montiniger had been originally described from the Arctic (Carter 1880). Burton (1929) considered Suberella to be an evolutionary step between Suberites and Pseudosuberites. Belatedly, Burton (1930) discovered that Suberella had been preoccupied by Thiele (1905), and erected Laxosuberella with type species L. topsenti as a replacement of Suberella topsenti. Koltun (1964; 1976) disagreed with Burton and reverted S. montiniger again. Herein we follow van Soest (2002) who recently advocated the validity of topsenti as a species, but placed it in Suberites. The taxonomic history of S. topsenti is described in detail by the latter author. Pseudo-Hieronim. Zwięzły komentarz do Księgi Psalmów, Ps 21 (Breviarium in Psalmos, Ps 21)
The most important point of this article is to comment and translate from Latin into Polish commentary on Ps 22 (21) (see PL 26, 879 A – 884 C). Work seems worthy of attention, at least for two reasons. First, the Pseudo-Jerome commentary on the said psalm has not yet been translated into Polish. Second, Ps 22 (21) is well known and, moreover, quoted in the New Testament, that it seems worthy to make the ancient commentary worthwhile to the wider public. About the author Breviarium in Psalmos little known, except that he tried to imitate the exegetical method in his commentary of st. Jerome. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest skomentowanie i przetłumaczenie z języka łacińskiego na język polski komentarza do Ps 22 (21) (zob. PL 26, 879 A – 884 C). Praca wydaje się zasadna co najmniej z dwóch powodów. Po pierwsze, Pseudo-Hieronimowy komentarz do wspomnianego psalmu nie doczekał się jeszcze opracowania na gruncie polskim. Po drugie, Ps 22 (21) jest na tyle znany, a nadto cytowany w Nowym Testamencie, że wydaje się, iż warto udostępnić szerszemu gronu ów starożytny komentarz. O autorze Breviarium in Psalmos niewiele wiadomo, poza tym, że starał się w swym komentarzu naśladować metodę egzegetyczną św. Hieronima.

Summary. The article presents a review of literature on vitamin D-deficiency during pregnancy: preeclampsia, intrauterine growth retardation. Some aspects of vitamin D impact to a pregnant woman immune system, realization of intrauterine infection in the form of early neonatal sepsis; and the development of somatic pathology in children born from mothers with vitamin D-deficient status are discussed.

Реферат. В статье представлен обзор литературы по проблемам витамин D-дефицитного статуса во время беременности: преэклампсии беременных, задержки внутриутробного развития плода. Представлены отдельные аспекты влияния витамина D на состояние иммунной системы беременной, на реализацию внутриутробного инфицирования в виде раннего неонатального сепсиса, а также развитие соматической патологии у детей, рожденных от матерей с витаминD-дефицитным статусом.
