Testo

The ethical assessment in HTA reports: the development and the evolution of the ethics consultation by Institute of Bioethics of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome (Italy)
The ethical assessment in HTA reports: the development and the evolution of the ethics consultation by Institute of Bioethics of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Rome (Italy)
The ethical assessment in an HTA report concerns both the ethical issues raised by the technology itself and the ethical issues that are related to the HTA process. Even though it is listed as one of the objectives of HTA, in practice the integration of this dimension into HTA reports has been often limited.
In the Italian context, already characterized by a certain delay in the diffusion of HTA, the Institute of Bioethics of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Rome, Italy) tried from 2007 to fill this gap, beginning to integrate ethical analyses into HTA reports in an activity of consulting for third parties.
The contribution intends to show the results of the ethics consultation in various HTA reports from 2007 to 2010. The following elements will be presented: 1. to describe the methodologies/procedures used to incorporate ethical analyses into HTA reports; 2. to review the set of ethical questions dealt with; 3. to show the resources involved; 4. to analyse the difficulties arose in the assessment.
Finally, the perspective is to set up an HTA ethics consultation within a broad ethics consultation service by Institute of Bioethics of UCSC
Molecular mechanisms of hepatitis C virus–induced hepatocellular carcinoma
AbstractHepatitis C virus (HCV) is a major leading cause of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). HCV-induced hepatocarcinogenesis is a multistep process resulting from a combination of pathway alterations that are either caused directly by viral factors or immune mediated as a consequence of a chronic state of inflammation. Host genetic variation is now emerging as an additional element that contribute to increase the risk of developing HCC. The advent of direct-acting antiviral agents foresees a rapid decline of HCC rate in HCV patients. However, a full understanding of the HCV-mediated tumourigenic process is required to elucidate if pro-oncogenic signatures may persist after virus clearance, and to identify novel tools for HCC prevention and therapy. In this review, we summarize the current knowledge of the molecular mechanisms responsible for HCV-induced hepatocarcinogenesis

Premessa a Per d’Arco Silvio Avalle, «Le forme del canto». Interventi di Lino Leonardi, Pietro G. Beltrami, Maria Sofia Lannutti, Arnaldo Soldani
This collection of essays on medieval poetic metres, edited by Maria Sofia Lannutti following the arrangement conceived by its author, confirms the importance of d'Arco Silvio Avalle's metrical studies. Key issues are the relationship between metrical structure and music in the texts dating back to the origin of romance literatures, the multi-perspective complexity of the approach, and the exemplarity of the methodology used.
Abstract : This biographical sketch attempts to quote some images of Otto Maria Carpeaux: various types of biographical constructions, carried out in different contexts by disparate authors under conditions just as distinct. It stems from a critical view of history, allowing for ?other images? fragmented and non-monumental ? to share the space. In dialogue with the montage principle, this sketch has two parts. The first, Possible Images, quotes the images produced during and after the life of the Austrian-Brazilian, who was born in Vienna in 1900, went to Brazil in exile in 1939 and died in Rio de Janeiro in 1978. The second part, Possible Montages, presents two possibilities of a biographical exercise: through the allegorical reading of documentary O Velho e o Novo (Otto Maria Carpeaux), understood as an instrument of intervention in the Brazilian dictatorship context and as a biographical retelling of the author?s European experiences; and through my Scrapbook of Critical Images, a record of the encounters in Carpeaux through critical images produced from the caesura of the present
