An example of cultural mediation: the representation of moçambicanidade through Mia Couto's brincriações.
This thesis aims to present the figure of a Mozambican author, Mia Couto, who aims to build a unified Mozambican identity, as this country has been divided by conflicts that have prevented the local populations from developing a unified culture. The author uses his best medium: writing. Through the use of invented words, brincriaçoes, he manages to reconcile the particularity of African culture with the country's official language, Portuguese. This is a standard language that fails to represent the essence of Africans. The author's alteration in his works leads to an awareness of the importance of the use of words as a symbol of identity. The paper presents a concrete example, the short story Vozes Anoitecidas, of how the author through stories and the singular use of the Portuguese language manages to enter the African world, becoming a mediator between what he calls moçambicanidade and Western culture. The paper also attempts to respond to the perplexities surrounding the translation of these works, which present many difficulties in passing Couto's messages from one linguistic system to another
UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONCEPT OF FRICTION IN THE EQUILIBRIUM DIRECTION OF LEARNING USING VISUAL MEDIA IN CLASS XI MIA-I SMA NEGERI 4 PALANGKA RAYA ACADEMIC YEAR 2017/2018
The purpose of this study was to describe the understanding of the concept of shifting the equilibrium direction of the results of learning using visual media in class XI MIA-I SMA Negeri 4 Palangka Raya 2017/2018 Academic Year. This study involved 22 students of class XI MIA-I Palangka Raya who had not received the subject matter of the factors that influence the shift in the direction of bequilibrium. The instrument used was a form of learning and student learningf activities, student response questionnaires, and concept comprehension tests (Pretest and Posttest). The data obtained were then analyzed descriptively to see the understanding of the concepts from the media used. The results of research and data analysis have been done that the average percentage of learning outcomes using visual media is carried out with very good categories, the implementation of learning using visual media is in a very good category, learning activities of group of students with excellent categories and understanding of students concepts after using visual media on indicator 1 is 100%, on indicator 2 is 95,45%, on indicator 3 is 74,24% and on indicator 4 is 72,72%. Based on these results it was concluded that using visual media was able to improve students conceptual understanding of the sub topics of the factors that influence the direction of equilibrium
Cosmic ray composition studies with CASA-MIA.
The energy spectrum and composition of cosmic rays with primary energies between 10\sp{14} eV and 10\sp{16} eV have been studied with the CASA-MIA detector in order to provide experimental evidence to compare with competing models of cosmic ray acceleration. New measurements in this energy region are needed to understand previous contradictory experimental results. The CASA-MIA detector is a ground based air shower array, with 1089 surface detectors spaced 15 meters apart and 1024 buried muon detectors in 16 patches, used to measure the lateral distributions of the electromagnetic and muonic portions of air showers. The CASA-MIA measured differential energy spectrum is a power law with spectral indices of below approximately 10\sp{15} eV and above. A new method for measuring primary energy is derived from ground based data in a compositionally insensitive way. The knee is shown to be a feature of this energy spectrum, not merely one of the size spectrum. In contrast with some previous reports, the knee does not appear sharp, but rather a smooth transition over the energies from 10\sp{15} eV to 3.0\times10\sp{15} eV. The composition of cosmic rays is roughly half light elements (e.g. protons and Helium) and half heavier at 10\sp{14} eV, and becomes increasingly heavy beginning near 5.0\times10\sp{14} eV and extending to 10\sp{16} eV. At 10\sp{16} eV, the average composition is roughly 90% heavier than Helium. This result supports the model of cosmic ray acceleration by supernovae, possibly multiple classes of them, and the model of cosmic rays escaping from the galaxy in a charge dependent way.PhDAstronomyHigh energy physicsPure SciencesUniversity of Michigan, Horace H. representação nacional.

This study focuses on the short story: "O embondeiro que sonhava pássaros" [The Bird Dreaming Baobab] by Mia Couto published in the book: Cada homem é uma raça [Each man is a race] in 1990, focusing particularly on the reflection around the resistance that this narrative brings in its different layers. Reflection that is also made in the way the text is conceived, in its form, structure and language. The study starts from a comparative analysis with the author\u27s essayistic and poetic production, especially with the book "O universo num grão de areia” [The Universe in a grain of sand] (2019). The aim is to analyze how Mia Couto\u27s literature reconfigures a vision of the human that is, also by a new dignification, an act of resistance and an imperative of a new language.
