The mingle model is a new technique to teach speaking that is developed by Darmayenti (2015). Few scholars have investigated the relation, contribution, and implementation of a mingle technique in class. This paper aims to discuss the constraints of the mingle model from Darmayenti (2015) in improving students’ speaking skills. Based upon few relevant journal articles, the effects of content evaluation display limitation of research on the integrated effect of the mingle model. This paper provides information for future studies to expose the effectiveness of the Mingle model on students'’ speaking skills proficiency

    No full text
The development of technology has initiated new teaching systems. In teaching speaking, there are issues about whether the students should learn in the class or outside of the class using technology. This article describes the practice of students' digital English literacy practice at SMAN Kapuas to study this digital practice's pedagogical potential when students interact directly or through social networks such as live streaming on YouTube or Instagram, video calls, or chatting with friends. A mixed-method study using questionnaires and interviews analyzed deeper and richer data. The results show that many sentences were still wrong when spoken in class. However, they can understand speaking lessons based on digital literacy, which they play or watch outside of the class. This implied that students should be instructed in alternative speaking methods. They may enhance their speaking abilities more purposefully, carefully, and often by using suitable language acquisition tools outside of the class. &nbsp

    No full text
Cultural elements, such as proverbs, hold deeply rooted educational values that have been integral to shaping societal norms and practices. These values can be utilized to educate children and build their character from an early age, whether through formal or nonformal education, guided by parents or teachers. In Islamic education, the integration of cultural values has been extensively studied and discussed. This study aims to explore how the values embedded in Sundanese culture can serve as a foundation for educating children from an Islamic perspective. Through a qualitative approach, the research examines Sundanese proverbs and their alignment with Islamic educational principles, focusing on the roles of parents, teachers, and educational institutions in characterbuilding. The study finds that educating children based on Sundanese values within an Islamic framework requires a comprehensive understanding of both cultural and religious teachings. A key element is the pivotal role of mothers as primary role models, supported by teachers and schools, to nurture children who are devoted to Allah and possess noble character. This research highlights the importance of integrating Sundanese cultural values with Islamic educational principles to create a holistic approach to character education. It underscores the collaborative roles of family, educators, and society in fostering a generation rooted in cultural wisdom and Islamic ethics

This article discusses the multiliteracy idea to give reasons in favor of multiliteracy implementation in Indonesian classrooms. Multiliteracy offers fresh perspectives on language education and learning. The usage of multiliteracy in Indonesia provides potential benefits, such as the growth of pupils' literacy levels. Multiliteracy adds a new dimension to education and allows instructors to take an alternative approach to teach, moving away from the conventional teacher-centered method towards a more student-centered approach. Furthermore, it places the emphasis on critical thinking, cultural awareness, and fresh insight. Students are encouraged and expected to be more curious when studying multiliteracy since they will be able to explore and learn on their own. Educators in Indonesia, on the other hand, should not be unfamiliar with the notion of multiliteracy. It should be welcomed, and while it may appear challenging at first, it can be a rewarding and exciting experience for instructors and students

This article aimed to provide a conceptual model of a family partnership with Paud institutions to develop the potential of young children based on blended learning. The approach was broken down into three stages: first, determining the learning needs of the parents in connection to the expansion of their competence in training; second, determining the learning needs of each mentor via the use of a learning needs identification format and questionnaire; and third, supplementing interviews. After that, the model’s effectiveness was evaluated by organizing offline and online collaboration activities using various technology, information, and communication forms. The empirical findings and input on the conceptual model, which had previously been evaluated for viability, were used to create the model after the trial done by professionals, practitioners, and students on the efficacy of blended learning for mentor training. The trial results were utilized to construct the model, following the empirical findings and input
