    Differences in cultural background has an influence on the emergence of anxiety and uncertainty that may cause potential conflicts or misunderstanding. So it becomes an interesting and unique way to study how individuals ethnic Bugis-Makassar with Javanese cope with anxiety and uncertainty they experience and how they resolve conflicts or misunderstandings. The purpose of this study was to determine how the experience of the interaction of individuals in intercultural interaction. The theory used in this research is a management theory Anxiety and Uncertainty (Gudykunts), the theory of self Disclosure De Vito and Supratiknya. This study used a qualitative approach which refers to the interpretive paradigm. The subjects in this study were students of ethnic Bugis-Makassar and Javanese living in the same boarding environment. Data analysis techniques used in this study refers to the method of Von Eckartsberg phenomenology. The experience of the data will then be grouped into three main themes, namely: 1) experience in conducting research informants intercultural interaction, 2) problems in the interaction, and 3) the role of interaction in the development of relations.     AbstrakRonggeng Bugis adalah salah satu jenis seni tari yang berkembang di Kabupaten dan Kota Cirebon.  Beberapa sumber menyebutkan bahwa tari ini dilahirkan semasa dengan pembentukan Kerajaan Cirebonoleh Sunan Gunung Jati tahun 1482.  Ide lahirnya tari ini adalah sebagai samaran dalam kegiatan memata-matai musuh. Tari yang dimainkan oleh kaum laki-laki ini didandani seperti perempuan dan ditampilkan dalam bentuk sendratari yang mengandung unsur humoris. Kata “bugis” yang melekat pada nama tari ini identik dengan nama salah satu suku bangsa di Pulau Sulawesi bagian selatan selain suku bangsa Makassar, dan Toraja. Kaitan antara Kerajaan Cirebondengan suku Bugis ini adalah adanya klaim bahwa orang-orang bugis telah menjadi bagian dari pasukan telik sandi Cirebonsehingga namanya menjadi Ronggeng Bugis. Masalahnya, dukungan data berupa dokumen tentang keberadaan orang Bugis di Cirebon pada abad XV  tidak ada kecuali oral history, tetapi telah menjadi keyakinan masyarakat setempat terutama kalangan seniman bahwa orang Bugis pernah menjadi anggota pasukan Kerajaan Cirebon.  Tujuan penulisan ini adalah mengungkap peranan orang Bugis diCirebon dengan melakukan perbandingan dengan beberapa peristiwa yang berkaitan dengan “merantaunya” pasukan Bugis.  Metode yang digunakan adalah metode diskriptif analisis sedangkan pemaparan peristiwanya menggunakan metode sejarah.  Hasilnya adalah fakta menarik tentang peranan orang Bugis tersebut. AbstractRonggeng Bugis is a kind of dance that was developed in Cirebon. Some sources say that the birth of the dance was contemporaneous with the establishment of the Kingdom of Cirebon by Sunan Gunung Jati in 1486. The purpose of the dance was firstly as a disguise to spy on the enemy. The dancers are men who dressed up in women’s costume and it is performed as sendratari (drama in the form of dance) that contains elements of humor. Ronggeng Bugis is performed by the Bugis troop of the Cirebon Kingdom’s army. Bugis is the name of ethnic group from South Sulawesi, and this is how the dance got its name. The questions are whether the Bugisnese troop had been established at that time and what their contributions were because the Bugisnese had not been migrated to Cirebon until the 17th century whereas the Kingdom of Cirebon had been founded in the 15th century. There is a distance of about 200 years. This study finds that Ronggeng Bugis was not invented contaporaneous with the establishment of the Kingdom of Cirebon but, instead, during the conflict between Trunojoyo dan Amangkurat I of the Kingdom of Mataram. The author describes the invention and development of Rnggeng Bugis based on bibliographic study and interview with the artists.</jats:p

    SEATING ARRANGEMENT IN IMPROVING STUDENTS\u27 SPEAKING SKILL AT IQRA BURU UNIVERSITY

    Speaking is one of the problems which is faced by anyone who learn English. In this research, the implementation of classroom management in this case seating arrangement aimed to find out to what extent seating arrangement improve students’ speaking skills at the second semester students of English Department of Letters Faculty at Iqra Buru University. The participants of this research were the English speaking lecturer and 30 students of Iqra Buru University. This research employed quasi experimental design, which consist of two groups namely control group and experimental group. Control group were treated by implementing orderly rows seating arrangement while for experimental were treated by implementing circle seating arrangement. The data were collected by using two kinds of research instruments namely test and recorder. The data were analyzed by statistical analysis SPSS program, version 20.0.The result shows that the implementation of seating arrangement can improve students’ speaking skill in term of accuracy, fluency and comprehensibility. It is supported by the mean score of the students’ posttests (74.48) was higher than pretests (56.07). on the other hand, there is also significant correlation among accuracy, fluency and comprehensibility.Salah satu masalah yang sering dihadapi oleh seseorang dalam belajar bahasa inggris yaitu keterampilan berbicara. Manajemen ruang kelas yang berfokus pada pengaturan tempat duduk dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana pengaturan tempat duduk dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara mahasiswa semester 2 pada jurusan Bahasa Inggris di Fakultas Sastra, Universitas Iqra Buru. Partisipasi dalam penelitian adalah dosen speaking dan mahasiswa semester 2 yang berjumlah 30 orang di Universitas Iqra Buru. Penelitian ini menggunakan bentuk penelitian kuasi experimental, dimana terdapat dua grup yaitu grup control dan grup eksperimen. Pengaturan tempat duduk berbentuk Orderly Rows&nbsp; diimplementasikan kepada grup kontrol sedangkan untuk eksperimen berbentuk Circle. Data di kumpulkan dengan menggunakan dua jenis instrumen penelitianya knites dan rekaman. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan program SPSS versi 20.0 Hasil menunjukan bahwa pengimplementasian pengaturan tempat duduk dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa dalam hal ini akurasi, fluensi dan komprehensi. Hal ini didukung oleh nilai rata-rata posttest (74.48) siswa lebih besar dari hasil pretest (56.07). Selain itu terdapat pula korelasi yang signifikan antara akurasi, fluensi dan komprehensi pada perkembangan keterampilan berbicara

    This study discusses the implementation of Bugis navigation constellations in Falak Science. Star is a form of the sign of the greatness of God Almighty, which was created in vain, it has an important role in human life, one of which is that stars can be used as directions, as is known by the Bugis people in South Sulawesi, which makes stars as system navigation in the voyage which came to be called Bugis navigation. The aim of this research is to find out the implementation of the Bugis navigation constellations in Falak Science.     Manusia dan Kebudayaan Bugis - Makassar dan Kaili di Sulawesi

    In this article, the author describes the ethnography of the Bugis-Makassar, the largest inhabitants in South Sulawesi. His description includes: the historical background, their social stratification, kinship system, traditional political structure, and folklore. How the Bugis-Makassar elite groups are developed and how their social structure influenced by such development is also discussed by the author. Based on the historical evidences it is revealed that identification of the elite groups which is underlined by nobility, emerged in 15th century. In the period of Dutch colonization, composition of the elite groups changed into: pangreh-praja (government administration official) which subsequently emerged as a new elite group. In the era of independence, the position of elites were mostly occupied by the rulling class and well-educated persons. In the last section, the author explains the sirik an institution which refers to human dignity and self-respect - in relation to the conditioning of Indonesian national culture

Paris: CNRS-EHESS, 1998, p. 22-23] Muhammad As`ad was one of the greatest `ulamâ of South Sulawesi (Celebes) in the twentieth century, an educationalist and moderate reformer. His family hailed from the Buginese kingdom of Wajo, and he established South Sulawesi's first modern madrasa in Wajo's capital, Sengkang. He is also the author of numerous simple religious texts in the Buginese language, and probably the first Islamic author to use the Buginese rather than the Arabic script for this sort of literature

This study analyzed through statistical methods based on the human needs theory. Results of the study indicate that needs of the community to the housing in general has fulfilled expectations. The application form of Bugis house in Makassar suggested using a modern house form with traditional style. Fulfillment aspects of security, comfort, and convenience can support Makassar city into a smart city

    Cirebon merupakan daerah dimana penulis tinggal dan dibesarkan yang terkenal akan kekayaan tradisinya. Tradisi tersebut menjadi salah satu identitas daerahnya yang memiliki keunikan tersendiri, salah satunya adalah tari tradisional Ronggeng Bugis. Ronggeng bugis adalah pertunjukan tari komedi yang diperankan oleh laki-laki dengan memakai riasan dan busana perempuan. Yang dimaksud riasan dan busana perempuan disini bukan busana dengan tata rias yang cantik, akan tetapi lebih mendekati busana menyerupai badut yang mengundang gelak tawa. Oleh karena itu sangat disayangkan apabila tradisi ini tidak dilestarikan dan diwariskan pada generasi muda sehingga dapat terus dinikmati oleh masyarakat. Permasalahan tersebut melahirkan gagasan, mengangkat Tari tradisional Ronggeng Bugis yang unik untuk dijadikan karya seni grafis. Pengembangan gagasan dan visualisasi bentuk-bentuk tari tradisional Ronggeng Bugis ke dalam karya seni grafis menjadi masalah dalam skripsi penciptaan ini, dengan tujuan agar penulis mampu mengekspresikan gagasan dan memvisualisasikan ide tersebut kedalam karya seni grafis cetak saring dengan teknik block out. Ada lima buah karya,dengan objek penari ronggeng bugis dengan suasana yang beragam dari masing-masing karyanya. Dibuat dalam ukuran yang berbeda. melalui proses sketsa manual, pewarnaan dengan cat akrilik, dipindahkan pada screen sebagai acuan cetak. Keseluruhan karya ini diharapkan selanjutnya dapat menginspirasi seniman lain untuk menemukan inovasi dalam pencarian ide gagasan berkarya, juga memperkenalkan kembali seni tradisional Ronggeng Bugis pada masyarakat.;---Cirebon is the place where the author lives and grew up which is known for its traditions. The tradition itself became one of the identities of the regency which has its own uniqueness. A tradition which is very well known is Ronggeng Bugis traditional dance. Ronggeng Bugis traditional dance is a comical dance performance which acted by men who are wearing woman's makeup and clothes. The makeup and the clothes, in this case, is not the beautiful kind of makeup, but instead, it is similar to clown which bring laughter of the audiences. Thus it is unfortunate to know that this tradition is not preserved and inherited to the young generations so that the society can still enjoy this tradition in the future. Therefore from this problem, the author has the idea to turn the Ronggeng Bugis traditional dance into graphic artwork. The idea development and the visualization of the pattern in Ronggeng Bugis traditional dance into graphic artworks become the problem of this creation-research, with the aim that the author is able to express the idea and visualized that idea into a screen painting graphic artworks in the block out technique. There are five artworks, with Ronggeng Bugis dancer as its object in a different situation in each of the artworks and made it in a different size through manually sketched, acrylic paint colored, and moved to the screen as printing reference. As a whole, this artwork is hoped to inspire another artist to find innovation in finding an idea to create other artworks and also to re-introduce Ronggeng Bugis traditional dance to the society

    Abstract This study focuses on the disclosure of matters relating to the existence of calabai as gender variation in Bugis ethnic which is illustrated in Calabai by Pepi Al-Bayqunie. This study is a library research with a qualitative approach so that it focuses on the text used as the object of research, namely Calabai by Pepi Al-Bayqunie. The data collection was carried out in several stages, including the observation stage, primary data recording stage, secondary data collection stage. The data analysis was carried out through several stages, namely the data classification stage, data analysis, and the conclusion of the analysis results. The results of this study indicate that there are gender variations illustrated in Calabai by Pepi Al-Bayqunie. Gender variations in the Bugis ethnic described in the novel are calabai. In the Bugis culture of South Sulawesi, the existence of calabai is a form of gender variation besides men or women. Calabai described by the author in the novel is a calabai who has special features and eventually he becomes a bissu. The main character is described as a calabai who later becomes bissu. In relation to the existence of calabai and bissu drawn by novel greetings, it turns out that there is a refusal from the group that considers these two gender variations to be incompatible with human nature. The existence of calabai is a problem because it is contrary to the social construction that already exists in the community. However, unlike calabai, the existence of bissu is considered more honorable because it plays an important role in Bugis culture. Keywords: gender variation, calabai, bissu, Bugis ethni

    Indonesian mufassir generally use Indonesian in interpreting the Al-Qur'an. However, the interpretation of AGH Daud Ismail uses the script lontara bugis to interpret the Al-Qur'an 30 Juz. Therefore, the author tries to see the aspects behind the use of the lontara script in the interpretation of AGH Daud Ismail.In addition, the author will also explore the locality elements shown in Daud Ismail's interpretation of the QS. Al-Maidah 5:90.This paper uses Schleiermacher's hermeneutic approach on psychological hermeneutics with a descriptive-analytic method.This paper concludes that: first, the use of the lontara script in this interpretation is an attempt to preserve the Bugis script which has begun to be abandoned at that time; second, in the interpretation of QS. Al-Maidah 5:90 contains terms and habits that exist in the Bugis community
