The data that support the findings of this study are available on request from the corresponding author. The data are not publicly available due to privacy or ethical restrictions.Resource orchestration (RO) in dynamic environments poses challenges during strategic initiatives. Although prior research highlights RO's benefits, little is known about how managerial decisions influence RO over time, potentially leading to inefficiencies. This study examines two multiyear strategic initiatives: an innovative city project and a telecommunications network upgrade to explore how RO actions adapt to shifting priorities using historical methods and longitudinal data. The study contributes to our understanding by examining RO processes in dynamic environments, offering a framework for synchronizing RO, and proposing a roadmap to guide senior management in aligning initiatives with organizational assets. It highlights the importance of adaptation and ambidexterity. Our findings identify four key synchronization processes—refocusing, descoping, substituting, and deferring—essential for managing strategic initiatives. A framework that aligns organizational capabilities with the benefits of innovation through four synchronization states: “Drowning,” “Swimming,” “Treading Water,” and “Doggy Paddle” is presented. Implications, future research, and limitations are discussed. This work was supported by the Konkuk University (2025-A019-0194).Thunderbird International Business Revie

NTR/NRX define a new thioredoxin system in the nucleus of arabidopsis thaliana cells

    No full text
Thioredoxins (TRX) are key components of cellular redox balance, regulating many target proteins through thiol/disulfide exchange reactions. In higher plants, TRX constitute a complex multigenic family whose members have been found in almost all cellular compartments. Although chloroplastic and cytosolic TRX systems have been largely studied, the presence of a nuclear TRX system has been elusive for a long time. Nucleoredoxins (NRX) are potential nuclear TRX found in most eukaryotic organisms. In contrast to mammals, which harbor a unique NRX, angiosperms generally possess multiple NRX organized in three subfamilies. Here, we show that Arabidopsis thaliana has two NRX genes (AtNRX1 and AtNRX2), respectively, belonging to subgroups I and III. While NRX1 harbors typical TRX active sites (WCG/PPC), NRX2 has atypical active sites (WCRPC and WCPPF). Nevertheless, both NRX1 and NRX2 have disulfide reduction capacities, although NRX1 alone can be reduced by the thioredoxin reductase NTRA. We also show that both NRX1 and NRX2 have a dual nuclear/cytosolic localization. Interestingly, we found that NTRA, previously identified as a cytosolic protein, is also partially localized in the nucleus, suggesting that a complete TRX system is functional in the nucleus. We show that NRX1 is mainly found as a dimer in vivo. nrx1 and nrx2 knockout mutant plants exhibit no phenotypic perturbations under standard growth conditions. However, the nrx1 mutant shows a reduced pollen fertility phenotype, suggesting a specific role of NRX1 at the haploid phase. © 2013 The Author

A first insight into genetic diversity of Mycobacterium bovis isolated from extrapulmonary tuberculosis patients in South Tunisia assessed by spoligotyping and MIRU VNTR

    No full text
Introduction In Tunisia, almost 77% of clinically and bacteriologically diagnosed cases of extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) are zoonotic TB, caused by M. bovis. Although several studies have analyzed bovine TB in cattle in Tunisia, no study has evaluated the risk of transmission to humans in such an endemic country. We aimed to study the genetic diversity of M. bovis human isolates, to ascertain the causes of human EPTB infection by M. bovis and to investigate the distribution and population structure of this species in Tunisia. Materials and methods A total of 110 M. bovis isolates taken from patients with confirmed EPTB were characterized by spoligotyping and MIRU-VNTR typing methods. Results Among the 15 spoligotypes detected in our study, 6 (SB0120, SB0121, SB2025, SB1200, SB1003 and SB0134) were the most prevalent (83.5%) of which SB0120, SB0121 and SB2025 were the most prevailing. MIRU-VNTR typing method showed a high genotypic and genetic diversity. The genetic differentiation based on MIRU-VNTR was significant between populations from South East (Tataouine, Medenine) and Central West (Gafsa, Sidi Bouzid, Kasserine) regions. Of note, 13/15 (86.7%) spoligotypes detected in our study were previously identified in cattle in Tunisia with different frequencies suggesting a peculiar ability of some genotypes to infect humans. Using combined spoligotyping and MIRU-VNTR method, a high clustering rate of 43.9% was obtained. Our results underlined that human EPTB due to M. bovis was more commonly found in female gender and in young patients. Most of our patients, 66.4% (73/110) were raw milk or derivatives consumers, whereas 30.9% (34/110) patients would have contracted EPTB through contact with livestock. The findings suggest that the transmission of Zoonotic TB caused by M. bovis to humans mainly occurred by oral route through raw milk or derivatives. Conclusion Our study showed the urgent need of a better veterinary control with the implementation of effective and comprehensive strategies in order to reach a good protection of animals as well as human health. Author summary In South Tunisia, the prevalence of bovine TB is high with Mycobacterium bovis as causative agent and cattle as reservoir of the bacteria. However as previously mentioned in several studies, M. bovis is also responsible for human extrapulmonary tuberculosis (EPTB) cases in South Tunisia. Despite the veterinary and medical problems, M. bovis is still little studied. In this context, this work aimed to study the molecular epidemiology of M. bovis in EPTB patients in south Tunisia in order to determine the main risk factors of transmission. Our results underlined that SB0120, SB0121 and SB2025, previously described in cattle in Tunisia, represent the predominant genotypes. The findings highlighted that human EPTB caused by M. bovis mainly occurred through the consumption of raw milk or derivatives. These data demonstrate the urgent need to implement strategies for preventing and controlling zoonotic TB

Проблема жанровой классификации фэнтези как вида приключенческой литературы

The paper addresses the issue of genre attribution of today’s Russian fantasy literature. The author attempts to build a taxonomy of fantasy genres upon their subject or themes, and upon artistic functions as suggested by M.S. Kagan, with a focus on the flaws of these approaches. Instead, the author suggests to use genetic-typological method based on tracing the evolution of adventure fiction as a whole. Since fantasy comes as the newest stage in the evolution of adventure literature, such an approach is the most relevant.Making use of the works by A.Z. Vulis and D.D. Blagoy on the history and genre taxonomy of adventure novel, the author concludes that a large-scale adventure meta-genre must be recognized. Its theoretical conceptualization only begins in the 18th–19th centuries, with the coming of a new literary movement — that of realism. The first kind of novel which is considered to be true ‘adventure novel’ in the modern sense is the Robinsonade. Thus, the taxonomy of the meta-genre can be divided into two parts: historical (describing its evolution before Defoe) and typological (covering the fiction from the 19th to 21st centuries). While the first part is structured with the use of genetic approach, the approach for the second part is mainly thematic.Modern fantasy literature combines both key types of adventure, geographical and historical, conflating a ‘travel’ novel of the Robinsonade with a historical adventure novel. Fantasy literature thus ‘retracts’ the outgrown genre subtypes. This trend is exemplified by the following movements in contemporary Russian literature: ‘sword and sorcery’ fantasy (“The Keeper of Swords” by N. Perumov; “Wolfhound” by M. Semyonova); historical and pseudo-historical fantasy (“Heavens Rejoice” by A. Valentinov; “Gleams of Aeterna” by V. Kamsha); and ‘rogue’ fantasy (“Chronicles of Siala” by A. Pekhov) which is derived from picaresque novel and piracy novel. Romance gives birth to romantic fantasy (“Anachron” by V. Benkovskiy and E. Khaetskaya); the field of crime literature can be linked to the forming of detective fantasy (“Under the Sign of Manticore” and “The Mockingbird” by A. Pekhov). Gothic novel gives rise to all sorts of ‘dark’ fantasy (“Senor’s Wanderings” by A. Dashkov; “The Nightwatcher” by O. Divov) and science fiction to ‘science’ fantasy and steampunk (“The Clandestine City” by V. Panov). Finally, social adventure novel, with the introduction of mythopoeia, becomes what in modern publishing practice is known as urban fantasy (the “Watches” hexalogy by S. Lukyanenko).A typological approach reveals that true fantasy subgenres have little originality of their own: each proves to be nothing more than a recent stage in the evolution of some branch of the whole adventure fiction meta-genre. Most rapid development happens where mythopoeia as a speculative device is organic and integral. On the contrary, romance and crime story traditions are originally endowed with another set of intentions, which does not allow the fantasy elements to dominate without ruining the structure of suspense natural of this or that genre.
