Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Apple (Malus domestica Borkh) is a tree plant trade from the Rosaceae family. Its inflorescence starts in April, and the ripening depends on varieties from August to October. The aim of this paper was to monitor the appearance of the disease at Primorac Crafts in Vođinci in 2016 and to take appropriate protection measures in accordance with the regulations of integrated plant protection to ensure as much yield as possible with the best quality of fruit. The biggest problem with the cultivation of apples at Primorac crafts are Venturia inaequalis and Podosphaer leucotricha, and the occurrence and development of these and other diseases depends on the weather conditions. Since 2016 was not particularly suitable for the development of diseases at Primorac Crafts, the protection of apples from the diseases was very successful. The chemical treatment for the control of plants and storage disease was performed 16 times at Primorac craft in 2016. The apple protection in 2016 at the Primorac Crafts was greatly facilitated by the Pin's weather station , which sent data on the actual condition of the orchard, and expert advice mr. Milorad Šubić. The apple yield in the year 2016 was 50-60 t / ha, of which 95% of the first class

Apple is a woody plant from the rose (Rosaceae) family. Its flowering begins in April and maturing depending on the variety. The aim of the study is to identify pests and diseases that occurred on apple trees on the family farm Primorac in VoĎinci during 2014 in order to take an appropriate protective measures in accordance with the regulations of integrated pest management aiming to ensure the maximum yield of quality fruit. The biggest hurdle of growing apples in 2014 were the weather conditions which were suitable for the development of many diseases. Most of damage was caused by Apple scab (Venturia inaequalis) and Powdery mildew (Podosphaera leucotricha). Observed pests damage was mostly caused by: Aphids (Aphididae), Leaf miners, Codling moth (Cydia pomonella), and Fruit tree red spider mite (Panonycus ulmi Koch). Chemical treatment for disease control was carried out 18 times and 7 times. For pest control, and due to good weather conditions for the development of the disease there was no possibility of their complete suppression, and hence the quality of the fruit was greatly reduced

Rad daje teorijski doprinos razumijevanju odnosa između znanja i inovacija, a istovremeno nudi i praktične implikacije za organizacije koje žele potaknuti kulturu dijeljenja, kreativnosti i neformalne inovativnosti..This thesis explores the connection between knowledge sharing, innovative work behavior and employee latent innovation, starting from the assumption that these processes are interconnected and crucial for organizational success in a modern, dynamic business environment. The theoretical part of the paper is based on relevant scientific literature in the field of knowledge management, organizational behavior and innovation management. Emphasis is placed on the role of tacit knowledge, which is transmitted informally and often unconsciously, and has proven to be particularly important in generating creative solutions and innovative ideas. Innovative work behavior is defined as a series of employee activities that include the generation, promotion and implementation of new ideas, while latent innovation refers to the informal, often unauthorized practice of developing innovations outside the official framework of the organization. The empirical part of the paper is based on a quantitative analysis of data collected through a questionnaire conducted among employees from different organizations. The results of the research on 108 employees from different companies show a statistically significant connection between knowledge sharing and innovative work behavior, as well as between innovative behavior and a tendency to latent innovation. It was also confirmed that innovative behavior partially mediates the relationship between knowledge sharing and latent innovation. These findings suggest that systematically encouraging knowledge sharing can positively affect employees' willingness to actively participate in innovation processes, either formally or through latent innovation. The paper makes a theoretical contribution to the understanding of the relationship between knowledge and innovation, while also offering practical implications for organizations that want to foster a culture of sharing, creativity, and informal innovation

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
