Thesis consists of the analysis of the paratextual apparatus in Transblanco, a work of joint authorship between Octavio Paz and Haroldo de Campos which is structured around the translation of Paz's poem Blanco (1966), in its two editions (Guanabara, 1986; Siciliano, 1994). A contextualization of the encounter between the two poets / critics / translators follows, as well as a discussion of a significant, yet short, controversy that occurs in the initial letters as the materialization of their similar but divergent positions about poetry, tradition and rupture. Around such concepts the following chapter about Paz's and Campos# work is structured. Regarding theoretical formulations, the thesis specifies its affiliation with the concept of "translation project", by Antoine Berman (BERMAN, 1995). Finally, the paratextual analysis of the work is presented, following Gérard Genette#s contributions (GENETTE, 1987)
