Get PDFThe two essays present little-known episodes from the life and work of M. Zerov in the days of his studentship and youth when he used to work as a teacher in Zlatopil gymnasium (in those times that was the territory of Kyiv province) after he had graduated from Saint Volodymyr University of Kyiv. The fi rst sketch deals with Zerov’s diploma thesis about the chronicle “Diistviia prezilnoi brani” [“Events of the most bitter war”] by Hryhorii Hrabianka. The second sketch is about M. Zerov and A. Akhmatova in Kyiv milieu of 1917 and about V. Narbut’s possible mediation between Zerov as a reader and Akhmatova as a poetess.Два етюди репрезентують маловідомі сюжети із життя і творчості М. Зерова часів його студентської юності та молодості тієї пори, коли він, учорашній випускник Київського університету ім. Св. Володимира, учителював у Златопільській гімназії (тоді Київщина). У першому етюді йдеться про дипломну роботу Зерова, присвячену літопису Григорія Грабянки “Исторія презільной брані”; у другому – про М. Зерова й А. Get PDFThe paper focuses on the formation of aesthetic foundations of classical Ukrainian literature which later appeared to be in tune with the doctrine of socialist realism. The understanding of literature as a motive force of social transformation, the vigorous support of its tendentiousness, its didactic and journalistic character could be easily traced in the texts of the young Franko as well as in the prose works by Ivan Nechuy-Levytsky, Panas Myrny, Olexandr Konysky and Borys Hrinchenko. It is thus no wonder that Volodymyr Vynnychenko’s attempts to subordinate literary praxis to the social determinants, and also his appeals for Marxist literature were readily picked up in Soviet times by the theorists of socialist realism.У статті йдеться про формування у класичній українській літературі естетичних настанов, які виявилися суголосними доктринальним засадам соціалістичного реалізму. Акцент на суспільно-перетворювальній місії літератури, її тенденційності, дидактично-публіцистичний первень простежуються в естетиці молодого І. Франка, прозі І. Нечуя-Левицького, Панаса Мирного, О. Кониського, Б. Грінченка. Спроба В.
