No full textThe National Mandate Party's (PAN) political advertisement, “PAN PAN PAN TERDEPAN”, uploaded on PAN TV's YouTube channel, is a tactic for political campaigning that focuses on the party's identity that is dynamic, contemporary, and in line with society's trends. By using a distinctive Jingle PAN hopes to become more appealing and gain greater support from voters, especially from the youth, by using distinctive audio elements. The song “PAN PAN PAN PAN TERDEPAN” also helps to form a positive and entertaining image for voters, as well as reaching out to young voters who are more engaged with music and social media trends. This descriptive qualitative research aims to investigate the reception of PAN party political advertisements by the Student Executive Board of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang in 2022-2023. Stuart Hall's reception theory is used in this research. This theory divides reception into three categories: Hegemonic Dominant Position, Negotiated Position, and Oppositional Position. The results showed that each subject's experience, perspective, and background differed in the reception of the message. In this case, it was found that there was a majority of hegemonic-dominant positions of the subjects' message reception towards the PAN party's political advertisements that could be accepted with all generations
Pan-pan Girls: Humiliating Liberation in Postwar Japanese Literature
Get PDFThis paper looks at some literary representations of the ‘pan-pan girls’ in postwar Japan. ‘Pan-pan’ is a derogatory term for street prostitutes who (mostly) served the soldiers of the occupying forces. Immediately after World War II, the Japanese government established the RAA (Recreation Amusement Association) and employed several thousand women to provide sexual services for foreign soldiers, ostensibly to protect Japanese women of middle and upper classes from rape and other violence. When the RAA was closed down in 1946 due to the US concern over widespread VD, many of the women who lost their jobs went out on the street and became private and illegal prostitutes – the pan-pan girls. With their red lipstick, cigarettes, nylon stockings and high-heel shoes, often holding onto the arms of tall, uniformed American GIs, the ‘pan-pan girls’ became a symbol of the occupation, and have been textually reproduced throughout the postwar period. This paper analyses the images and representations of the ‘pan-pan girls’ in postwar Japanese literature, to consider how the ‘pan-pan girls’ have functioned as a metaphor for the occupation and contributed to the public memory construction of the occupation. I identify some major codes of representations (victimisation, humiliation, and national trauma; eroticism and decadence; sexual freedom and materialism) and argue that the highly gendered and sexualised bodies of the ‘pan-pan girls’ have continued to allow simplistic and selective remembering of the occupation at the expense of recalling the pivotal role of Japanese patriarchy in the postwar period

Il s’attache plus particulièrement à son type de performance qui ne peut pas être dissocié d’une intention manifeste de créer une atmosphère assez particulière. Pour ce faire, l’auteur explore le continuum de Michael Kirby, entre la performance non matricielle et le jeu complexe, ainsi que le concept de Lehmann sur le temps et l’espace métonymiques.Este artigo visa elucidar a estética da Pan Pan Theatre através de uma instância do seu processo de ensaio, especialmente nos termos de seu tipo de performance, que não pode ser dissociado de sua intenção manifesta de criar uma atmosfera bastante específica. No full textPartai Amanat Nasional (PAN) released a video for a song entitled "PAN..PAN..PAN" via the PAN TV YouTube account. The PAN song is a promotion and outreach within the framework of the 2024 General Election. The song, which was first released on YouTube PAN TV, has become a viral and trending topic on social media, even getting various comments from netizens and the public. Against the background of the phenomena and problems regarding the PAN song, the study aims to analyze the PAN song using a political communication approach and study. This study specifically aims to reveal more deeply about the following two entities, namely: (1) Forms of Political Communication in PAN Songs; (2) Political Communication Messages in PAN Songs. The analysis of this PAN song is based on the theory of the Bandwagon Effect and The Communicative Function Model. This study was conducted using a qualitative descriptive analysis method. Based on the results of analysis and data mining, two main findings were obtained in this study, namely: (1) The form of political communication in PAN songs includes political communication techniques in the form of the bandwagon effect which has three main effects on audiences, namely conformity, interpersonal influence and seeking status; (2) Political communication messages in the PAN song technically use the communicative function campaign model which consists of four stages, namely surfacing, primary, nomination and election
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
