This project encompasses the modeling and virtual recreation of one of the latest biplanes used in war conflicts before the Second World War, the Polikarpov I-152. Its historical background and development from prototype to final versions make this aircraft one of the most peculiar of its time period.
The different chapters cover the procedure followed on this project, beginning with the gathering of data and blueprints of the original alrcraft and continuing with the step-by-step modeling of the figther's most relevant parts. To conclude, the definitive rendered model by CATIA will be presented
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis
Crystallization and preliminary X-ray diffraction analysis of rat protein tyrosine phosphatase eta.
The rat protein tyrosine phosphatase eta (rPTPeta) is a cysteine-dependent phosphatase which hydrolyzes phosphoester bonds in proteins and other molecules. rPTPeta and its human homologue DEP-1 are involved in neoplastic transformations. Thus, expression of the protein is reduced in all oncogene-transformed thyroid cell lines and is absent in highly malignant thyroid cells. Moreover, consistent with the suggested tumour suppression role of PTPeta, inhibition of the tumorigenic process occurs after its exogenous reconstitution, suggesting that PTPeta might be important for gene therapy of cancers. In this study, the catalytic domain of rPTPeta was produced in Escherichia coli in soluble form and purified to homogeneity. Crystals were obtained by the hanging-drop vapour-diffusion method. Diffraction data were collected to 1.87 A resolution. The crystal belongs to space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), with unit-cell parameters a = 46.46, b = 63.07, c = 111.64 A, and contains one molecule per asymmetric unit
The X-Ray Structure of a Recombinant Major Urinary Protein at 1.75 Å Resolution. A Comparative Study of X-Ray and NMR-derived Structures
Major Urinary Proteins belong to the lipocalin family and are present in the urine of rodents as an ensemble of isoforms with pheromonal activity. The crystal structure of a recombinant mouse MUP (rMUP) was solved by molecular replacement technique and refined to R-factor (Rfree) of 20% (26.5%) at 1.75 Å resolution. The structure was compared to a NMR model and to a crystallographic structure of the wild-type form of the protein. The crystal structures determined in different space groups present significantly smaller conformational differences between themselves when compared to NMR models. Some, but not all, conformational differences between crystal and solution structures can be explained by the influence of crystallographic contacts. Most of the differences between NMR and X-ray structures have been found in the N-terminus and loop regions. A number of side-chains lining the hydrophobic pocket of the molecule are tighter packed in the NMR structure when compared to the crystallographic model. Surprisingly, clear and continuous electron density for a ligand was observed inside the hydrophobic pocket of this recombinant protein. Conformation of the ligand modelled inside the density is coherent with the results of NMR experiments
