Narrative language production in schizophrenia
No full textLanguage disturbances are among the main clinical features of schizophrenia
(e.g. Andreasen and Grove 1986; Covington et al. 2005; Koeda et al.
2006). Consequently, clinicians often face the problem of how to assess and
interpret these symptoms. This chapter focuses on the problem of
language assessment in patients with schizophrenia and its interpretation.
We begin by outlining the most accepted psycholinguistic models of
language production. We then focus on the characteristics of language
production in schizophrenia. In the review of the literature, we outline the
potential contributions of techniques of narrative analysis to the already
existing procedures of linguistic assessment. Finally, we draw some conclusions
on the nature of the linguistic production deficits observed in
patients with schizophrenia and their potential connections with other
cognitive deficits, such as those affecting attention and executive functions

No full textThis book provides a comprehensive review of new developments in the study of language processing and related neural networks in schizophrenia by addressing
the complex link between psychopathology, language and evolution at different levels of analysis. Psychopathological symptoms in schizophrenia are mainly characterized by thought and language disorders, which
are strictly intertwined. In particular, language is the distinctive dimension of human beings and is ontologically
related to brain development. Although normal at the levels of segmental phonology and morphological
organization, the speech of patients suffering from schizophrenia is often characterized by flattened intonation
and word-finding difficulties. Furthermore, research suggests that the superior temporal gyrus and specific
prefrontal areas which support language in humans are altered in people with schizophrenia. Brambilla and Marini bring together international contributors to explore the link between brain evolution
and the psychopathological features of schizophrenia, with a focus on language and its neural underpinnings.
Divided into three sections the book covers: • brain evolution and language phylogenesis; • brain abnormalities in schizophrenia; • psychopathology and schizophrenia. No full textThe etymology of the word author refers to an act of creation, an act of augmentation, from the Latin verb augere. Author instantiates creation, the expansion of the pre-existing. In 1967 Roland Barthes declared the death of the author in his famous essay to state once more that the crisis is that of the author as a single subjectivity and as a term that condenses prestige, undermined by the de-subjectivation strategies of automatism, fortuity and fragmentation of the historical avant-gardes, as well as by the machinic act and by the reproducibility of the second avant-gardes.
Fifty years after Barthes’ paradigmatic formula, this lack of authorship appears to be a successful brand. The ten- sions between the anomie of matter, the law that establishes authorship and the economy that makes the work pos- sible, invoke discordant perspectives. Artists make the self-destruction of their work the real work, and appeal is made for the demolition of architectures, whether by a recognised author or not, in order to re-design, or better still, re-claim the territory. Artificial intelligence consolidates its logics and its design by progressively shedding human ingenuity. The space of criticism becomes, finally, increasingly ephemeral. However, there is an acceptation of criti- cism that is, rather than an individual ‘signature’, an exploration and explanation of how design makes theory.
The binomial author-matter seeks to mark these tensions and contradictions: the featured term author is main- tained to underline the persistence of that prestigious subjectivity, at the very moment when the rhetoric of “mat- ter as an author” promises other forms of authorship

No full textTCC (graduação) - Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Centro Sócio Econômico, Curso de Economia.Com a categoria superexploração do trabalho tornou-se possível explicar o fundamento da existência de países que, desde a conformação do sistema capitalista em escala mundial, são subordinados e dependentes a outros países, o que implica, aos primeiros, severos problemas sociais. Estes países se diferenciam, justamente, pela forma de acumulação de capital que cada um utiliza. Se exploração e superexploração fossem a mesma coisa variada quantitativamente, não engendrariam formações econômicas qualitativamente distintas. A diferença entre elas está na lei do valor: a primeira a obedece, a segunda não. A primeira é característica dos países dominantes, a segunda, dos dominados. Além disso, para se compreender a importância deste conceito, necessária é uma determinada concepção de realidade, que a considera como totalidade histórico-concreta, a qual induz o movimento das partes, mas é também por elas constituída, que a considera uma unidade dialética entre essência e aparência, que a considera obra da práxis da humanidade. Quando se utiliza o conceito de forma distorcida - diferentemente do modo como o fez a teoria marxista da dependência - a análise perde o rigor, ganha lacunas e ajuda a encobrir mais ainda os progressos do pensamento crítico latino americano, conjuntamente à onda neoliberal que varre nosso continente. Este é o caso do uso que dele faz Ricardo Antunes. Este, ao se propor explicar, através da superexploração do trabalho, os motivos das greves metalúrgicas de 1978-80, boicota a teoria marxista da dependência, particularmente a obra de Ruy Mauro Marini, e não consegue dar-nos uma contextualização convincente e coerente dos caminhos pelos quais o capitalismo brasileiro chegou àquela situação. O conceito é esfacelado, a compreensão, perdida. Em outras obras, tampouco Antunes reconhece a origem e o conteúdo do conceito de que se utiliza, penalizando-as com debilidades facilmente resolvidas caso o conceito seja utilizado conforme Marini o fez

Tendo esse objetivo como cerne da discussão, o tema desenvolvido privilegia dentro desse debate as abordagens de Immanuel Wallerstein e Ruy Mauro Marini para o tema. Tendo tal análise como pano de fundo, é possível evidenciar similaridades, congruências, e disparidades que permitem esclarecer a aderência ou não entre os conceitos de semiperiferia (Wallerstein) e Estado subimperialista (Marini). Partindo dessa necessidade teórica, percorrem-se, no levantamento bibliográfico, os temas imperialismo, subimperialismo, sistemas-mundo, e semiperiferia. Através da elaboração de sete dimensões de comparação, o assunto é aprofundado, evidenciando que apesar de algumas similaridades, os dois termos em tela não devem ser compreendidos como sinônimos
