    The study is a scientometric analysis of the magnitude of contributions of Prof. K. C. Panda, an eminent information scientist and academician of LIS. The paper highlights his 130 publications (120 articles and 10 books) during 1982-2011. The analysis of his 120 articles reveals that he has contributed 20 single papers and co-authored 80 papers with 45 collaborators that appeared 115 times yielding a greater collaboration coefficient of 0.79 which indicates his versatility of promoting research from the collaborative front. On an average, he has contributed 4 to 5 papers in a year during the stated period. Prof Panda is found to have contributed maximum (06) articles to Annals of Library and Information Studies

    Study of the p–p–K + and p–p–K - dynamics using the femtoscopy technique

    The interactions of kaons (K) and antikaons (K ̄) with few nucleons (N) were studied so far using kaonic atom data and measurements of kaon production and interaction yields in nuclei. Some details of the three-body KNN and K ̄ NN dynamics are still not well understood, mainly due to the overlap with multi-nucleon interactions in nuclei. An alternative method to probe the dynamics of three-body systems with kaons is to study the final state interaction within triplet of particles emitted in pp collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, which are free from effects due to the presence of bound nucleons. This Letter reports the first femtoscopic study of p–p–K + and p–p–K - correlations measured in high-multiplicity pp collisions at s = 13 TeV by the ALICE Collaboration. The analysis shows that the measured p–p–K + and p–p–K - correlation functions can be interpreted in terms of pairwise interactions in the triplets, indicating that the dynamics of such systems is dominated by the two-body interactions without significant contributions from three-body effects or bound states

    QATAR-2 : a K dwarf orbited by a transiting hot Jupiter and a more massive companion in an outer orbit

    We report the discovery and initial characterization of Qatar-2b, a hot Jupiter transiting a V = 13.3 mag K dwarf in a circular orbit with a short period, P b = 1.34 days. The mass and radius of Qatar-2b are M P = 2.49 M J and R P = 1.14 R J, respectively. Radial-velocity monitoring of Qatar-2 over a span of 153 days revealed the presence of a second companion in an outer orbit. The Systemic Console yielded plausible orbits for the outer companion, with periods on the order of a year and a companion mass of at least several M J. Thus, Qatar-2 joins the short but growing list of systems with a transiting hot Jupiter and an outer companion with a much longer period. This system architecture is in sharp contrast to that found by Kepler for multi-transiting systems, which are dominated by objects smaller than Neptune, usually with tightly spaced orbits that must be nearly coplanar

    Carbon nanotubes (CNT) are used in a variety of applications, including energy storage, device modelling, automotive parts, water filters, thin-film electronics, coating etc. The present article investigates the steady three-dimensional (3D) magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) rotating flow of water based nanofluid containing CNT namely SWCNT and MWCNT past a stretching/shrinking sheet in occurrence of magnetic field and homogeneous-heterogeneous chemical reactions. Further, the heat transfer phenomena is analyzed in presence of thermal radiation and heat source/sink. The governing partial differential equations (PDEs) are converted to non-linear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) by using suitable similarity transformations, and then solved numerically using bvp4c code of MATLAB software. The impacts of magnetic field, rotational, suction/injection, thermal radiation, heat source/sink parameters, nanoparticle (NP) volume fraction, and homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions on the velocity, temperature, and concentration profiles as well as the skin friction coefficient and Nusselt number are presented in graphs and tables. It is found that The primary velocity decreases while the second velocity increases for higher values of rotational parameter and the flow dominates in MWCNTs the SWCNTs

    Inferring time derivatives, including cell growth rates, using Gaussian processes

    Often the time-derivative of a measured variable is of as much interest as the variable itself. For a growing population of biological cells, for example, the population’s growth rate is typically more important than its size. Here we introduce a non-parametric method to infer first and second time-derivatives as a function of time from time-series data. Our approach is based on established properties of Gaussian processes and therefore applies to a wide range of data. In tests, the method is at least as accurate as others, but has several advantages: it estimates errors both in the inference and in any summary statistics, such as lag times, allows interpolation with the corresponding error estimation, and can be applied to any number of experimental replicates. As illustrations, we infer growth rate from measurements of the optical density of populations of microbial cells and estimate the rate of in vitro assembly of an amyloid fibril and both the speed and acceleration of two separating spindle pole bodies in a single yeast cell. Being accessible through both a GUI and from scripts, our algorithm should have broad application across the sciences.Data from Figures 2 and 3, see readme.tx

    Scientometric Dimension of Research Productivity of a Leading Private University in India

    The study examines the research productivity of KIIT University, Odisha, India in regard to 361 papers indexed in Scopus from the year 2000 to till February, 2013. The study attempts to measure authorship pattern, degree of collaboration, Year wise distribution of articles and corresponding citations, domain wise distribution of articles, ranking of authors, ranking of highly cited papers, collaborating countries and such other parameters. The study finds that the major chunk of research is contributed by three joint authors and the trend of collaborative research is rightly at its peak. The study further reveals that authors of this University have published maximum number of articles in Communications in Computer and Information Science, followed by World Academy of Science, Engineering and Technology, Comparative Clinical Pathology, and International Journal of Information and Management Sciences. The top author of this university is found to have published 25 articles that have been indexed in Scopus. Taken together all the articles published during this period the university has h index of 11
