Get PDFThis paper analyzes local/transnational mobilities of Afro-Colombian communities in the border between Colombia and Ecuador in the southern Colombian Pacific. The article describes displacements and experiences of these communities in the local and transnational space, and the value that they give to the experiences reconfiguration of their territories and daily life that emerges in the armed violence contexts related to the presence of criminal organizations and illegal armed groups. Historical processes of settlement of Afro-Colombian communities will be analyzed, through multi-sited ethnography, with the itineraries and trajectories of armed violence that has made of the borderline space a nautical drug trafficking route. It is discussed the reconfiguration of the bounder as a “spatiality of violence” with its economic and military power and its death efficiency to dominate and exploit communities and territories, and the intense forced migration flows of Afro-Colombians to Ecuador.El artículo analiza las dinámicas de movilidad local/trasnacional de comunidades afrocolombianas en la frontera entre Colombia y Ecuador por el Pacífico sur colombiano. Se describen los desplazamientos y las trayectorias de estas comunidades en el espacio local y trasnacional, así como el valor que ellas les confieren a las experiencias de reconfiguración de sus territorios y vida cotidiana marcada por la presencia de grupos armados y cárteles del narcotráfico. A través de la etnografía multisituada se ensamblan los procesos históricos de poblamiento de las comunidades afrocolombianas con los itinerarios y las trayectorias de las violencias armadas que han hecho del espacio fronterizo: una ruta náutica del narcotráfico. Por último, se reflexiona sobre la reconfiguración de la frontera como una “espacialidad de las violencias” con su respectivo poder económico, militar y eficiencia de muerte para dominar y explotar a las comunidades y territorios y, con ello, los intensos flujos de movilidad forzada de afrocolombianos hacia Ecuador

No full textTo categorize conceptually and ethnographically the strategies of settlement and mobility of the Afro-Colombian communities in the Colombia-Ecuador border, this paper analyzes the narratives that I have been told during the field research work, based on the simultaneity between the rivers and the border as a space for movement and stability, rootlessness and continuities, place of departure and arrival. The strategies of mobility, far from being an extension or transfer of cultural meanings, describe complex trajectories of built and disputed historicities, and sites of displacements resulting from territorialization processes between people and their spaces.Para categorizar de maneira conceitual e etnográfica as estratégias de assentamento e mobilidade das comunidades afro-colômbianas na fronteira Colômbia-Equador, este artigo analisará as narrativas que me foram relatadas durante o trabalho de investigação de campo, referidas às simultaneidades entre os rios e as fronteiras como espaços de movimento e estabilidade, desenraizamento e permanências, lugar do qual se parte e onde se chega. "From whitening and acculturation to difference" : imaginaries around black women in Colombian urban contexts
Get PDFEste trabajo de grado es una invitación a reflexionar sobre lo diverso dentro de lo diverso alrededor de las mujeres negras, en este se aborda el tema desde la transculturación, representaciones, imaginarios y pragmatismos, teniendo como punto focal de la reflexión el concepto de “diferancia” introducidos por Jacques Derrridá y Stuart Hall, un neologismo que invita a reflexionar sobre lo que no se puede simbolizar porque desborda la representación. Esta noción se refiere a la acción de distinguir, y al hacerlo, dar lugar a oposiciones y categorías que afectan y transforman el significado mismo.
Con esta investigación que surge del proceso reflexivo personal alimentado por los aprendizajes adquiridos durante los estudios en la maestría en estudios afrocolombianos, se pretende contribuir al campo de estudios afrolatinoamericanos, desde una perspectiva analítica facilitando entender el impacto del uso del lenguaje en la constitución de sujetos diversos y racializados, en particular en las mujeres negras.This degree work is an invitation to reflect on the diverse within the diverse around black women, in which the subject is approached from transculturation, representations, imaginaries and pragmatisms, having as a focal point of reflection the concept of "difference"introduced by Jacques Derridá and Stuart Hall, a neologism that invites us to reflect on what cannot be symbolized because it goes beyond representation. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
