The main objective of this project was the creation of a digital space dedicated to educate and multiply and educational message. After a communications diagnostic and a development of a campaign for the creation of digital educational contents, a strategy was designed exclusively for OBA. This project is made up of knowledge acquired from social Communications, the way of interaction, creation and journalistic contain analysis, applied to the creation of an innovative digital educational space.Comunicador (a) SocialPregrad

Olive-stone biomass ash (OBA): an alternative alkaline source for the blast furnace slag activation

[EN] Alkali activated materials (AAM) are being investigated as an alternative binder that could be more eco-efficient than Portland cement. The effect of olive-stone biomass ash (OBA) on the activation of blast furnace slag (BFS) was studied. The mechanical behaviour of mortars in which OBA was replaced, or added to, BFS were compared to those found for BFS mortars activated with potassium hydroxide (KOH) and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solutions in the range of 4¿12 molkg-1 . The results showed the high efficiency of OBA as activating reagent because it provided similar, or higher, strengths when compared to the alkali hydroxide activating solutions. The microstructural characteristics of the new binding OBA/BFS systems were assessed by X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA),field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) and mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP). These systems showed lower mean pore diameter and scarcer formation of zeolite structures when compared to KOH/BFS systems. These promising results demonstrated the viability of the use of these type of ashes as activating reagents in AAM.The authors are grateful to CAPES for the scholarship.

A 100% waste-based alkali-activated material by using olive-stone biomass ash (OBA) and blast furnace slag (BFS)

[EN] This study presents the use of olive-stone biomass ash (OBA) as an alkali source in alkali-activated materials (AAM) based on blast furnace slag (BFS). The OBA was physically and chemically characterized. It presented high K2O and CaO contents, and yielded high alkalinity in water medium. The newly designed OBA + BFS mixes (a 100% waste-based AAM) reached a compressive strength of 30 MPa after 7 days of curing at 65 ºC, which was higher than for BFS activated with KOH solution. Thermogravimetric studies showed the formation of C-S-H/(C,K)-A-S-H gels and hydrotalcite. The OBA presented excellent performance as a component in AAM and a good valorisation was achievedFont-Pérez, A.; Soriano Martínez, L.; Moraes, J.; Tashima, M.; Monzó Balbuena, JM.; Borrachero Rosado, MV.; Paya Bernabeu, JJ. Author information Abstract We conducted an individual-patient-data meta-analysis of the efficacy of chemotherapy on overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in advanced/recurrent gastric cancer (AGC). Our primary research question was whether the experimental arms of the trials included in the meta-analysis showed a benefit as compared with their corresponding control arms. MEDLINE (up to 2010), Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, National Institutes of Health (NIH) trial registry and proceedings of major oncologic and gastrointestinal cancer meetings were searched. Randomised controlled trials for AGC closed to patient accrual before the end of 2006 were eligible. As of December 2010, individual patient data were available from 22 trials (4245 patients, representing 47% of the targeted data) of 55 eligible trials. The overall comparison of experimental arms with the corresponding control arms showed statistically significant differences in terms of both OS and PFS. Hazard ratio was 0.88 (95% confidence interval 0.82-0.94, P<0.0001) for OS and 0.81 (0.76-0.88, P<0.0001) for PFS. The results of the sub-analysis of adding a given chemotherapeutic agent to any chemotherapy confirm the results of the overall analysis, with a hazard reduction of 11% for OS (P<0.01) and 26% for PFS (P<0.0001). This meta-analysis of individual patient data shows that the additions of experimental chemotherapeutic agents to pre-existing control or standard regimens have produced a modest improvement in OS and PFS. Median survival remained below 1 year for all investigated chemotherapy regimens and none emerged as a clear standard

The original article [1] contained an error in authorship whereby author, Fausto Catena was mistakenly listed as part of the institutional authorship of the OBA trial supporters instead of in the correct position of final author. As such, the original article has since been corrected to reflect the correct authorship. Furthermore, this error was mistakenly introduced by the production team handling this article and, as such was not the fault of the authors
