In this report, a computer program was written in order to determine the size of a shaft to be used for power transmission. The uniform or stepped solid shaft under consideration is supported on two bearings and to be made from any material with known properties. S.I. Units are used throughout the design. The program consists of main program and nine subprograms to facilitate the computation at which is based on ASME Code (formula that establish by the American Society Of Mechanical Engineers in 1927) using the FORTRAN POWERSTATION VERSION 4.0 where The Microsoft Developer Studio is an integrated development environment for Fortran applications. This will enable the Personal Computer to be used to run the program. Then the program been tested and the results obtained were compared with the manual calculation validation. The author hope that this program will be useful for educational purpose and hopefully will help to certain extent the Mechanical Engineering Student who are studying about the shaft design

The development of the era and the development of literary science make novels not only fictional. The novel 49 Hari Kisah Penantang Gelombang by Nuril Basri is written based on the reality that occurs in the real world, so it can be called a biographical novel. Starting from human existence in facing a series of extreme problems that arise in real life, then reproduced by the author into a biographical novel. The purpose of this study is to describe the author’s struggling value in writing the novel 49 Hari Kisah Penantang Gelombang. To reveal these values, the theory on the aspect of struggle values will be utilized. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with Abrams' expressive criticism approach to the sociology of the author. The data collection technique used is documentation study. While the data analysis technique is qualitative data analysis. The results of the study show the values of struggle: persistence, patience, never giving up, and the responsibility of a novelist in conducting research to reproduce true stories into literary works in the biographical novel genre

These maps in turn are used to study the structure of the stars' coronae and winds. This method, however, misses any small-scale magnetic flux whose polarization signatures cancel out. Measurements of Zeeman broadening show that a large percentage of the surface magnetic flux may be neglected in this way. In this paper we assess the impact of this 'missing flux' on the predicted coronal structure and the possible rates of spin-down due to the stellar wind. To do this we create a model for the small-scale field and add this to the Zeeman-Doppler maps of the magnetic fields of a sample of 12 M dwarfs. We extrapolate this combined field and determine the structure of a hydrostatic, isothermal corona. The addition of small-scale surface field produces a carpet of low-lying magnetic loops that covers most of the surface, including the stellar equivalent of solar 'coronal holes' where the large-scale field is opened up by the stellar wind and hence would be X-ray dark. We show that the trend of the X-ray emission measure with rotation rate (the so-called 'activity-rotation relation') is unaffected by the addition of small-scale field, when scaled with respect to the large-scale field of each star. The addition of small-scale field increases the surface flux; however, the large-scale open flux that governs the loss of mass and angular momentum in the wind remains unaffected. We conclude that spin-down times and mass-loss rates calculated from surface magnetograms are unlikely to be significantly influenced by the neglect of small-scale field.Peer reviewe

Identification of structured LTI MIMO state-space models

    No full text
The identification of structured state-space model has been intensively studied for a long time but still has not been adequately addressed. The main challenge is that the involved estimation problem is a non-convex (or bilinear) optimization problem. This paper is devoted to developing an identificationmethod which aims to find the global optimal solution under mild computational burden. Key to the developed identification algorithm is to transform a bilinear estimation to a rank constrained optimization problem and further a difference of convex programming (DCP) problem. The initial conditionfor the DCP problem is obtained by solving its convex part of the optimization problem which happens to be a nuclear norm regularized optimization problem. Since the nuclear norm regularized optimization is the closest convex form of the low-rank constrained estimation problem, the obtained initialcondition is always of high quality which provides the DCP problem a good starting point. The DCP problem is then solved by the sequential convex programming method. Finally, numerical examples are included to show the effectiveness of the developed identification algorithm.Accepted Author ManuscriptApplied MechanicsTeam Michel Verhaege

Al-Qur‟an was kalamullah revealed to the prophet Muhammad SAW, then instructed to convey to his people and serve as guide or a way of life for those who like filial. Al-Quran is the greatest miracle of the prophet Muhammad SAW. In al-Quran are indeed a great many educational concepts, especially if we have to use the method of thematic. According to the author of this article, the concept of education by rote method is the best concept in education because the core concept used by the prophet Muhammad when he received the revelation of Allah through the Gabriel angle, and this concept is also used by the prophet Muhammad SAW to teach Al-Quran told his companions

Electropolymerization of Basic Blue B by cyclic voltammetry (CV) onto the carbon nanotube (CNT) paste electrode results in the formation ofpoly (Basic Blue B) film/modified CNT paste electrode (PBBB/MCNTPE). The Modified electrode was used for the electrochemical determinationof dopamine (DA) and uric acid. CV results showed that this PBBB/MCNTPE have reversible redox behavior in electrolyte solution. The resultingPBBB/MCNTPE were characterized using field emission scanning electron microscope. The analytical ability was tested with respect to the scan rate, number of cycle, pH of solution, and concentration variation. Measurement of these analytes studied simultaneously by CV and differential pulsevoltammetry methods. The analytical curve for DA presented linear dependence over the concentration range from 3 × 10 M witha linear correlation coefficient of 0.99036. The detection limit of this method was 5.8 × 10. The method has good selectivity and sensitivity withsatisfactory results. Keywords: Carbon nanotubes paste electrode, Cyclic voltammetry, Poly (Basic Blue B), Dopamine, Uric acid

    «КА‘БА ДЕЯНИЯ И ЗНАНИЯ»: АНАЛИЗ ЭТИЧЕСКИХ ИДЕЙ ХАСАНА АЛ-БАСРИ (642–728)

    No full text
The article deals with investigation of a number of stories about Hasan al-Basri, a great preacher and a major representative of the zuhd movement (‘detachment’) in early Islam. These stories are gathered in anthology ‘Memorial of God’s Friends’ (Tadhkirat al-Awliya’) of the major Persian poet and Sufi thinker of XII–XIII centuries Farid ad-Din ‘Attar Nishaburi. The author provides a brief overview of the ethical ideas of Hasan al-Basri and explores the origins of his ethical doctrine. Hasan al-Basri followed the principle of strict responsibility. He was the forerunner of the Mu‘tazilite doctrine of the autonomy of human will. The focus of the article are the main themes of Hasan al-Basri’s ethical doctrine, such as: longing for higher virtues (sincerity, righteousness, piety, humility), the requirement to follow religious instructions, the overcoming attachments to the mortal world, the critique of wealth and the sermon of asceticism, etc. A detailed analysis of the stories about Hasan al-Basri and his statements allows to conclude, that there numerous ideas in his worldview later will take the form of developed Sufi ethical doctrine. The article shows, that all events from the life of Hasan al-Basri, from his birth to death, should be read and understood in the framework of his spiritual progress along a Sufi path. XIII в.

The application of wadi’ah contract by some financial institutions in Malaysia

Islamic finance emancipated as a replacement for the conventional financial practices that aims only at profit making i.e. capitlist oriented finance. Although both are termed finance, but Islamic finance has two major distinguish features which are: the motive is not profit making only rather seeking the pleasure of Allah’s mercy in the hereafter. The second feature is the use of asset backed-up transactions and profit distribution system as agreed at fore hand. These features manifested in the dealings of the Islamic Financial Institutions (IFIs) established to excute the aims and objectives of Islam and Muslims as the vicegerent of Allah on earth and one who are bound by injunctions in all their transactions. In order to achieve these objectives Islamic banks have moved in an alternative bearing from the conventional banks in practices and brands of products. One of these products is rebranding of the conventional savings account with the Wadi‘ah account. Therefore, this paper aims at explaining the concept of wadi‘ah, the evidences of its legitimacy, conditions, prohibited elements in this transaction, its types and how its application in some financial institutions in Malaysia. Finally, we found out that, modern wadi‘ah took a different shape from the original wadi‘ah. While original wadi‘ah is based on Amanah (turst), contemporary wadi’ah is based on daman (liability) which is more or less loan
