    Abstract This paper discusses the pattern of kiai hegemony as a charismatic leader. Kiai have a strategic position, are very respectable, and even have a big influence on the development of a community. The author examines the phenomenon of Habib Syech bin Abdul Qadir Assegaf as one of the charismatic kiai. Kiai is not a person who is experienced and has professional skills, but is socially proven to be able to spearhead the process of social change in society. The functionalist perspective presented by William F. Ogburn the author uses as an approach in interpreting the kiai's charismatic leadership. This perspective considers social change as something that can disrupt the balance of society. Kiai not only restricts the flow of culture, but the kiai seeks to spearhead change. The main finding in this paper is that compliance that is formed from a charismatic kiai is able to consciously obey his followers and without coercion. Kiai not only restricts the flow of culture, but the kiai tries to spearhead changes. On the other hand Habib Syech bin Abdul Qadir Assegaf tends to create restrictions on relations to a political party activity. In a functionalist perspective, change is integrated in culture. The culture of sholawatan that has grown very strong among the NU community, is another supporting aspect in the creation of charismatic permanence Habib Syech bin Abdul Qadir Assegaf as a Kiai. Charismatic leadership is raised on the emotional involvement of an individual in identifying the psychological individual of his followers in an effective way, which leads to cultural constancy adopted by certain community groups.Keywords : kiai, leadership, charismatic, hegemonyAbstrak Tulisan ini membahas tentang pola hegemoni kiai sebagai pemimpin kharismatik. Penulis melakukan telaah terhadap fenomena Habib Syech bin Abdul Qadir Assegaf sebagai salah seorang kiai kharismatik. Kiaibukanlah sosok yang berpengalaman dan memiliki kemampuan profesional, tetapi secara sosial terbukti mampu memelopori proses perubahan sosial dalam masyarakat. Perspektif fungsionalis yang disampaikan oleh William F. Ogburn penulis gunakan sebagai sebuah pendekatan dalam memaknai kepemimpinan kharismatik kiai.Perspektif ini menganggap perubahan sosial sebagai suatu hal yang dapat mengacaukan keseimbangan masyarakat.Kiai bukan hanya membatasi arus budaya yang masuk, namun kiai berupaya memelopori perubahan Temuan utama didalam tulisan ini adalah kepatuhan yang terbentuk dari kharismatik seorang kiai mampu menghegemoni pengikutnya dengan sadar dan tanpa suatu paksaan. Kiai bukan hanya membatasi arus budaya yang masuk, namun kiai berupaya memelopori perubahan. Disisi lain Habib Syech bin Abdul Qadir Assegafcenderung menciptakan pembatasan hubungan terhadap suatu aktivitas partai politik. Dalam perspektif fungsionalis perubahan terintegrasi dalam kebudayaan.Budaya sholawatan yang sudah tumbuh sangat kuat dikalangan masyarakat NU, menjadi aspek pendukung lain dalam penciptaan kelanggengan kharismatik Habib Syech bin Abdul Qadir Assegafsebagai seorang Kiai. Kepemimpinan kharismatik dimunculkan atas keterlibatan emosional seseorang individu dalam mengidentifikasi psikologis individu pengikutnya dengan cara efektif, yakni mengarah pada keajegan budaya yang dianut oleh kelompok masyarakat tertentu.Kata kunci : kiai, kepemimpinan, kharismatik, hegemon

    The sources and method of Shewkani in Fath al-Qadir

    Bu çalısmamızda, ondukuzuncu yüzyılda Yemen’in sayılı âlimlerinden biri olan Sevkânî’nin (1173-1250/1760-1834), 1223/1808 yılında baslayıp 1229/1814 yılında tamamladıgı “Fethü’l-kadîr” isimli tefsirindeki kaynaklarını ve metodunu incelemeye çalıstık. Çalısmamız bir giris ve iki bölümden olusmustur. Giris kısmında; çalısmamızın önemini, amacını ve metodunu açıkladık. Birinci bölümde; müellifimizin hayatını, ailesini, yetistigi ortamı, ilmî sahsiyetini, hocalarını, talebelerini, çesitli alanlardaki ilmî eserlerini ve kaynaklarını inceledik. Ve tefsirin mukaddimesi, yazılıs gayesi ve özellikleri üzerinde durduk. kinci bölümde ise tefsiri rivâyet, dirâyet ve Kur’ân ilimleri açısından inceledik. Neticede gördük ki Fethü’l-kadîr’de, Kur’ân’ın Kur’ân’la ve Sünnetle tefsirine öncelikle dikkat edilmis; ayetlerdeki belâgî inceliklere yer verilmistir. Tefsirde lügat, sarf ve nahiv konularına deginilmis, kıraat noktasında bolca örnekler verilmis; Fıkhî ve Kelâmî konular kendine has üslupla ele alınmıstır. Kaynaklar özenle seçilmis; slâm dünyasında muteber kabul edilen tefsirlerden nakiller yapılarak birçok görüs bir arada sunulmustur. Kısacası bu eserle, tefsir sahasında kendisinden sonraki nesillere kalıcı ve oldukça zengin bir miras bırakılmıstır.In this study, we examined the sources and method of Shawkânî (1173- 1250/1760- 1834), was one of the scholars of Yemen, in his Qur’anic exegesis “Fath al-Qadir.” began to write his exegesis in 1223/1808 (a.d.) and finished in 1229/1814 (a.d.). Our work consists of an introduction and two chapters. In the introduction, we presented the significance, object, and methodology of our study. In the first chapter we examined his life, his family, his environment, his scholarly character, his teachers and students, his works on various Islamic sciences and sources. And we studied the prologue of the exegesis, its purpose and main characteristics. In the second chapter, we examined the exegesis from the perspective of of dirayah (comprehension) and riwayah (narrative) methods and Qur’anic sciences. In the conclusion, we found out that riwayah and dirayah methods were used in “Fath al-Qadir” equally. The author paid attention to interpreting Qur’anic verses with the help of other verses and the sayings of the Prophet. He also pointed out the rhetorical aspects of the verses. Linguistic and grammatical issues were stated; and different styles of recitation were explained through several examples. Legal and theological matters were examined by means of a specific approach. Sources were selected with special care and quotations from widely-accepted works of exegesis were presented along with various views. In short, the author has left a significant and rich work for the future generations in the field of Qur’anic exegesis

    AbstractThis article explicitly reveals the meaning of "kadhib" in QS. A<li Imra>n [3]: 94 from the perspective of the Fath al-Qadir interpretation. This is based on the background that the term regarding lying is an interesting discussion, fundamentally conducted for hidden purposes that can only be known by the individual themselves. This research employs a descriptive analytical method through literature review with relevant and credible sources such as books, journals, theses, and others. Before exploring the content of the Quran, the author discusses the biography of al-Shawkani and the profile of his tafsir book. The results of this study indicate that the context of QS. A<li Imra>n [3]: 94, according to the Fath al-Qadir interpretation, is actualized in relation to the characteristics of the Jewish people. Although not specifically explained, al-Shawkani interprets the word "kadhib" in QS. A<li Imra>n [3]: 94 as a lie committed intentionally, and the implications of his statement lean more towards an element of inconsistency with the essence behind reality.Keywords: Kadhib; QS. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif analisis melalui penelusuran pustaka dengan sumber yang relevan dan kredibel seperti buku, jurnal, skripsi, dan lainnya. Sebelum mengeksplorasi isi Al-Qur'an, penulis membahas biografi al-Shawkani dan profil kitab tafsirnya. Hasil penelitian ini adalah konteks pada QS. A<li Imra>n [3]: 94, menurut tafsir Fath} al-Qadi>r, diaktualisasikan kepada sifat kaum Yahudi. Meskipun tidak dijelaskan secara spesifik, al-Shawkani memaknai kata kadhib dalam QS. A<li Imra>n [3]: 94 dengan kebohongan yang dilakukan secara sengaja dan implikasi pernyataannya lebih mengarah kepada unsur ketidaksesuaian terhadap hakikat dibalik realitas. Kata Kunci: Kadhib; QS.     Kitab Risalah Fi Bayani Hukmi al-Bai’i wa al-Riba is a book written on Islamic Jurisprudence which is hardly known. It was authored by Shaykh Abdul Qadir bin Abdul Rahim Bukit Bayas, who was the first mufti in the Terengganu State Government. Thus, the book is an essential reference in discussing fiqh al-Muamalat, especially concerning the topics of purchase, interest, and mudharabah. The study will attempt to highlight the biodata of the author, how the manuscript was tracked, as well as analyzing the content of his book. The data were collected from library research, questionnaires, and interviews. Then, they were analysed by analysis content metode. The study found the manuscript has played its own role in spreading the Fiqh al-Muamalat in a local mould.The author could express his ideas critically and analytically, meanwhile the other opinions were not been ignored. Also, he seemed to be able to combine both Islamic Jurisprundence and ethics in parallel. Thus, it should receive more attention from society. In conclusion, the study of our scholars’ books should be strengthened, especially in the Fiqh al-Muamalat, so that people can take benefit from it.Keywords: Risalah Fi Bayani Hukmi al-Bai’i wa al-Riba, Shaykh Abdul Qadir bin Abdul Rahim Bukit Bayas, fiqh al-mu’amalat. Abstrak Kitab Risalah Fi Bayani Hukmi al-Bai’i wa al-Riba ialah sebuah kitab fiqh yang jarang dikenali masyarakat. Ia dikarang oleh Shaykh Abdul Qadir bin Abdul Rahim Bukit Bayas, mufti kerajaan Negeri Terengganu yang pertama. Justeru, ia merupakan antara rujukan yang perlu diberikan perhatian dalam membicarakan fiqh al-mu’amalat, khasnya dalam bab jual beli, riba, dan mudharabah. Kajian akan cuba mengenengahkan biodata ringkas pengarang, bagaimana karya ini dijejaki, di samping membahaskan isi kandungan dan beberapa analisis daripada kitab beliau. Data dikumpul daripada tinjauan perpustakaan, soal selidik dan tembual dan kemudiannya dianalisis menggunakan metode analisis kandungan. Kajian mendapati bahawa karya ini merupakan salah sebuah kitab yang berperanan dalam menyebarkan fiqh al-mu’amalat menurut acuan tempatan. Banyak pemikiran pengarang yang bersifat kritis dan analitis telah dijelaskan di dalamnya. Pun begitu, beliau bersikap terbuka kepada pandangan- pandangan lain, serta dilihat mampu menggabungkan teori-teori dan hukum-hukum fiqh dengan unsur-unsur tasawuf dan akhlak. Justeru, kitab beliau ini seharusnya mendapat tempat yang sewajarnya dalam masyarakat, sekalipun terdapat beberapa kritikan yang munasabah. Kesimpulannya, kajian terhadap kitab-kitab ulama tempatan seharusnya dirancakkan, terutamanya dalam bidang fiqh al-mu’amalat agar masyarakat kini dapat mengambil manfaat daripadanya.     In the past, Malay Muslims contributed by enriching the collection of writings. Among them is Shaykh ‘Abdul Qadir bin ‘Abdul Rahim Bukit Bayas. His book, entitled Risalah Fi Bayan Hukm Al-Bay’ Wa Al-Riba is an essential reference, particularly in discussingFiqh al- Mu’amalat. This study will attempt to highlight the author’s biodata and the history of the book, how the manuscript is tracked, as well as analysing the content of his book. The data were collected from library research, documentation method and interviews. Then, they were analysed by analysis content method. The study found that Shaykh is one of the Malay scholars who played a role in delivering the Fiqh al-Mu’amalat in the local mould. In conclusion, the author is considered to be an influential scholar in Terengganu although he is not so famous. The book should be consulted in order to gain benefit therefrom

    Questioning of Authentication and Epistemology in Tafsir al-Jilani

    In this research, the author critically analyzes a biography of Shaikh ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani containing sacred myths. The analyst of sacred myth about ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani is based on the approach of applied anthropology to distinguish between the myths that have  positive and negative values for Muslim society. This research then analyzes the authenticity of Tafsir al-Jilani and the epistemology of his inter- pretation. ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani is the founder of Qadiriyah. Qadiriyah doctrines has been widely accepted by traditional Muslim groups in Muslim world, so that the study of Tafsir al-Jilani is very meaningful for the followers of Qadiriyah in particu- lar and the lovers of Quranic studies in general to increase their knowledge about the teachings of ‘Abd al-Qadir al-Jilani.</p

    The phenomenon of disaster is an inseparable part of human life. The understanding of it is often considered as a will of God or a natural occurrence, which consequently gives a non-anticipatory and desperate perspective. This study aims to reveal the articulation of disaster according to the idea of the Qur'an based on Sufi interpretation by dialecticism, the interpretations of Abdul Qadir al-Jilani, Ibn 'Arabi, and Achmad Asrori al-Ishaqi, from now on referred to as the "Sufi interpretation trilogy." This research is a literature study using the perspective of Sufi interpretation. Through the reading of this Sufi interpretation trilogy, the author reveals that the meaning of disaster, according to the three Sufis above, can be connected in singularity. Al-Jilani's reading with two types of understanding of disaster between destiny and the impact of damage marks that humans understand with their efforts in facing a disaster. Then, Ibn 'Arabi's reading, with its understanding of the phenomenal Absolute, makes us aware of not assuming disaster as punishment by always relying on God's power (religious-humanism). Meanwhile, al-Ishaqi on all these matters is simplified to the level of praxis, that natural disasters or calamities are images of human and natural relations that are not friendly to each other.     Using membranes for CO2 capture has gained recent prominence in the global scientific community due to its lower capital cost and a quicker separation performance than the conventional separation methods. The membrane process features desirable properties, like compactness, energy efficiency, and environmental friendliness. Various polymeric and inorganic materials have been tested both as unique ingredients and blends to form CO2 separation membranes with a focus on increasing the performance but have had varying rates of success. For commercial viability, the membrane sector requires new techniques and testing materials to lower the cost of CO2 capture. Recently, thermally rearranged polymers, intrinsic microporous polymers, ionic liquid inclusion as fillers, and binary fillers have all emerged as novel trends, focusing on enhancing the working efficiency and sustainability of the membranes. This chapter explores the most recent advances in membrane technology and its future prospects as a sustainable solu ion towards carbon dioxide capture.
