Unemployment as a Disequilibrium Phenomenon: the economics of Keynes and how to go ahead from Patinkin, Leijonhufvud and Hicks
Keynes' theory can be interpreted as dealing with unemployment as a disequilibrium phenomenon in an essentially dynamic context. In this perspective, it is much more important to explain why unemployment changes than to identify a presumed level of equilibrium for this variable. Patinkin, an artisan of the so-called neo-classical synthesis, had the same intuition when maintaining that price and wage flexibility is not a cure for unemployment, and hence there is no unemployment equilibrium. However, two essential aspects of a thorough sequential analysis are missing in both authors: co-ordination failures and time. Leijonhufvud takes co-ordination failures due to imperfect knowledge into account by focussing on financial markets incapable of providing for the consistency of long-term production and consumption plans. The time dimension in the real side of the economy is introduced by Hicks who maintains that productive capacity must be built up before being used, and hence, by fossilising past events, appears as a factor of propagation of disequilibria. Coupling this time dimension of production with the imperfect knowledge that engenders co-ordination issues allows building-up a true dynamic analysis, which appears as the prolongation or the complement of Keynes' analysis. Within such an analytical framework, it becomes evident, that a fall not only in money wages but also in real wages, far from re-establishing full employment, is a source of global instability and threats the viability of the economy. And above all, it becomes evident that understanding the role of money and financial behaviours is essential for explaining the ongoing crisis as the previous ones.co-ordination, disequilibrium, money, production, time, unemployment, wage
Authorship in the Interstices of History, Biography, Reality and Memory: Histoire(s) du cinéma and Cabra Marcado para Morrer
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

A Canonical Form for PROV Documents: Dataset Underpinning Evaluation
Dataset supporting:
Luc Moreau (2017) A Canonical Form for PROV Documents and its Application to Equality, Signature, and Validation. ACM Transactions on Internet Technology.
We present a canonical form for PROV that is a normalized way of representing PROV documents as mathematical expressions. As opposed to the normal form specified by the PROV-CONSTRAINTS recommendation, the canonical form we present is defined for all PROV documents, irrespective of their validity, and it can be serialized in a unique way. The paper makes the case for a canonical form for PROV and its potential uses, namely: comparison of PROV documents in different formats, validation, and signature of PROV documents. A signature of a PROV document allows the integrity and the author of provenance to be ascertained; since the signature is based on the canonical form, these checks are not tied to a particular encoding, but can be performed on any representation of PROV.</span

Complémentarité intertemporelle de la production, coordination de l'activité économique et croissance hors de l'équilibre.
This paper aims to show important aspects of out of equilibrium processes of change ; in particular the distortion of productive capacity associated with a structural modification and its effects over time. It is stressed that, e.g., a change in the rate of take out is not sufficient condition to obtain a higher growth rate of the economy. Gaffard Jean-Luc, Amendola Mario. Detecting and indexing moving objects for behavior analysis by video and audio interpretation
Advisors: Mario Vento, Luc Brun. Date and location of PhD thesis defense: 24 February 2014, University of SalernoIn this thesis a system for analyzing moving objects behavior for surveillance applications is proposed: videos are processed in order to extract and analyze moving objects trajectories for identifying abnormal trajectories, associated to abnormal behaviors. Whereas the information extracted from the videos are not sufficient or not sufficiently reliable, the proposed system is enriched by a module in charge of recognizing audio events of interest such as shoots, screams or broken glasses. Finally, all the extracted information are suitably stored in order to allow an efficient retrieval from the human operator. Five different standard datasets have been used for testing the different modules proposed in this thesis; the obtained results, both in terms of accuracy and computational efficiency, confirm the effectiveness and the real applicability of the proposed approach

Touching Freud's dog: H.D.'s tactile poetics
"Do not touch me", Frau Emmy warns Freud in 1889. "Do not touch", Freud echoes in 1933. This time, he is referring to his pet chow, Yofi, warning H.D. that "she snaps - she is very difficult with strangers". Examining the prohibition in light of work by Jacques Derrida and Jean-Luc Nancy, this article charts the withdrawal that always interrupts touch. Despite Freud's taboo, however, H.D.'s writing seeks to make contact in strange and unnerving ways. Developing Julia Kristeva's account of the semiotic, this paper proposes a literature of touch. Reading H.D.'s poems, alongside Tribute to Freud, and her letters, the author demonstrates that H.D.'s poetics are always haunted by the very (im)possibility of contact
