    Academic-industry partnership framework of Mariano Marcos State University

    Higher education is a window for people to gain knowledge and skills. People who step out in higher academic learning are expected to be equipped with competencies needed in the different job sites. Therefore, the responsibility of every institution to seek alternatives to further enhance academic opportunities. The main objective of this study was to develop an academic-industry partnership (AIP) framework for the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). A qualitative research design was utilized in exploring the partnership engagement of the different colleges of the university. Interviews inquiring about participants' lived experiences were purposively selected for a grounded-theory analysis following the thematic coding process. The coding was further subjected to a triangulation for purposes of validating the data from various sources. The study revealed that the AIP is focused on the areas of instruction, research and production, and research and extension. This leads to the creation of the AIP framework which can contribute to the development of AIP policy of the MMSU and other higher education institutions

The Mariano Marcos State University, with the motto Where instruction, research and technology promotion are at their finest, continue to keep its pace in holding high the GREEN and GOLD. As the university moves to ward a progressive direction, IT-Assets have been a great aid in the achievement of its goals. There is a need therefore to systematically manage these assets in order to gain their maximum potential for the betterment of the organization. The MMSU-ITAMS was designed to specifically address problems that are encountered in the existing system, as well as, to manage the lifecycle of the IT-Assets in the University. The system shall not only benefit the institution with financial aspects, but also intangible benefits. The implementation of the system aids the users in their day to day works, not only to automate the manual system but the most essential, is to have a data ready to provide information; information that will aid in the formulation of decisions

    Information management system for research of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University–South La Union Campus

    This study aimed to develop an information management system for research (IMSR) for the South La Union Campus of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University. The descriptive-developmental research design was applied, and the rapid application development model was used in the system development. An interview was conducted and ISO/IEC 25010- based questionnaire was employed. Respondents consisted of 37 faculty members and five (5) research office personnel. The researchers were able to develop the intended IMSR and were able to check its acceptability revealing that the system was very acceptable based on the measurement criteria of the ISO/IEC 25010 as to the following characteristics: functional suitability, reliability, usability, efficiency, maintainability, portability, compatibility, and security. The overall result was found that the IMSR is a deployable functional information management system in enhancing the research operations

    Assessment of the Automotive Technology Program’s Compliance with Waste Management Procedures of Mariano Marcos State University

    This study assessed the level of compliance of the Automotive Technology Program of Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU-CIT) with established waste management procedures. The objective was to evaluate current practices and identify gaps to support the development of enhanced waste management guidelines aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 on responsible consumption and production. Study Design: A descriptive-quantitative research design was employed to measure the degree of compliance across major components of waste management. The study was conducted at the College of Industrial Technology, Mariano Marcos State University, during the first semester of Academic Year 2024–2025. Data was gathered through a validated survey questionnaire administered to 30 respondents composed of faculty, staff, and laboratory personnel. Weighted mean and composite mean were used to determine the level of compliance. Findings revealed that the Automotive Technology Program achieved an overall weighted mean of 2.95, indicating partial compliance with institutional and environmental standards. Among the key indicators, compliance ranged from 2.63 to 3.20, reflecting inconsistencies in waste segregation, hazardous waste handling, and documentation. The mean score for waste segregation and disposal (2.97) suggested efforts toward proper waste management but also highlighted areas needing improvement, particularly in labeling, bin organization, and staff training. The study concludes that the current waste management practices of MMSU-CIT are moderately implemented but require systematic enhancement to achieve full compliance. The proposed Enhanced Waste Management Guidelines are recommended for adoption to strengthen institutional policies, curriculum integration, and environmental awareness. Looking forward, these guidelines may serve as a replicable model for other academic and technical institutions seeking to improve sustainability and environmental compliance. The study recommends the development and institutionalization of enhanced waste management guidelines that are valid, implementable, and aligned with both academic and industrial standards. These guidelines should be integrated into the curriculum and operational policies to strengthen environmental education, promote responsible waste practices, and foster a culture of sustainability among faculty and students. By aligning institutional waste management systems with global best practices, the university can contribute to advancing responsible consumption and production, consistent with the objectives of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG 12)

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Medical OutPatient Records Management System: A Prototype

    Exploring a transformative solution is driven by the inefficiencies inherent in the traditional manual, paper-based outpatient record management system at Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU). This research introduces the Medical Out-Patient Records Management System (MORMS) to fill this gap. Developed through the software development lifecycle, this OMRMS optimally maintains outpatient records; therefore, it assists medical professionals in recording, organizing, and retrieving patient data effortlessly. Notably, statistical reports represent data trends that are an invaluable product. The overall approval of MORMS was unanimous during User Acceptance Testing (UAT), with each tested component receiving a 100 percent acceptability index. Based on this assessment, it can be concluded that there is a high likelihood of integrating the system into the daily processes of DMMMSU’s medical officers across all its three campuses because its usefulness is valued by them. Moreover, usability testing validates the functional practicality of MORMS with respect to the Computer System Usability Questionnaire subscales -system usefulness, information quality, and interface quality. Consistent median ratings of 1 for these scales indicate pragmaticity or practicability; dependability; precision and ease of use, which are some merits of this methodical tool. Consequently, not only gaining acceptance from users but also being highly usable makes MORMS effective in complying with various requirements set by different groups within DMMMSU’s medical staff

    The Information Systems Strategic Plan for the Mariano Marcos State University is a three-year plan (2002-2004) that outlines in detail how information and communication technology (ICT) will be used to support the University\u27s vision and mission. It identifies problems and areas in the University that needs ICT solutions. It also contains components that serve as the framework of the ISSP. First are the ICT Objectives that address the University\u27s intention to use ICT to support its vision and mission. These are: to make effective use of technology, provide adequate student and staff access to computer facilities, establish the University\u27s network infrastructure, create an ICT Technical Support Group, establish procedures and standards for ICT equipment acquisitions and disposal, provide faculty/staff development and training, and establish a funding mechanism. Second is the information systems strategy that identifies and describes the information systems (IS) that must be established in three years. It sets the IS priorities, defines IS linkages that directs to the establishment of a university-wide management information system, and it maps out the ISs development approach. Priority systems that support the University\u27s academic thrust are the Student Information System (SIS) and the Library Management Information System (LMIS). These systems automate student-related processes that enhance delivery of student services. The Personnel Management Information System (PMIS) and the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) are the primary systems to support administrative thrust. PMIS aims to improve personnel services while FMIS aims to strengthen financial management. For the research and development, its priority systems are the Research and Development Management Information System (R & DMIS), the Geographic Information System (GIS), and the E-Commerce System (E-ComSys). Another priority system that supports the management as well as the administration is the Web Page System (WPS). It aims to showcase the University as well as to boost its morale. Third is the ICT Strategy that maps out the distribution of the University\u27s ICT resources and guides the procurement of these resources, as well as the hiring of ICT personnel. Two (2) web servers, eight (8) application servers, 428 networked PCs/workstations, several printers and other peripherals are proposed to ensure adequate student and staff access to computer facilities. Furthermore, conversion of 11 non-ICT positions to ICT positions and creations of another 17 new ICT positions are proposed to ensure proper management and implementation of the technological goals of the University. Finally, the ISSP contains a three-year annual information systems development and investment plan that presents the detailed steps by step activities needed for the implementation of the ISSP
