Programa de Pós-Graduação em Engenharia de Produção.O trabalho aqui apresentado, é uma contribuição para resolução do problema das indústrias de cerâmica vermelha do sul do Estado de Santa Catarina, que pretendem melhorar seus processos de produção, direcionado-os para a satisfação de seus consumidores e garantindo assim para suas empresas vantagem competitiva. A pesquisa mostra, além da realidade do setor cerâmica vermelha no Sul do Estado de Santa Catarina, uma amostra dos requisitos necessários para satisfazer os consumidores, no que diz respeito a blocos cerâmicos de vedação, mostrando a facilidade e a vantagem da aplicação do QFD (Desdobramento da Função Qualidade). A pesquisa mostra, com detalhes, como proceder para determinar e relacionar a voz dos consumidores, com as etapas do processo de produção e como garantir qualidade dos produtos, efetuando melhorias no processo, dispensando as opiniões pessoais, contando com a segurança de uma metodologia cientificamente definida. Além de propor o modelo, a pesquisa mostra, em números, o resultado da aplicação da metodologia em empresas da Região Sul. The paper here show, is a contribution for problem solving of red ceramic industries in the south of Santa Catarina state, which intend to improve their production processes by guiding them towards the satisfaction of their consumers, thus providing a competitive advantage for their companies. The reality of the red ceramic sector in the south of Santa Catarina. The research shows a sample of necessary requisites to please the consumers concerning sealing ceramic blocks, by showing the easiness and the advantage of QFD application. The research shows in details how to proceed in order to determine and relate the voice of the consumers, within the production process steps, and how to guarantee the quality of products, by making improvements in the process. Disallowing personal opinions, counting on the safety of a scientifically defined methodology. No full textLo scopo di questo studio osservativo-descrittivo è indagare all’interno dell’ULSS7, che si trova in provincia di Treviso e che assicura la copertura sanitaria a 217573 abitanti (Dipartimento di Prevenzione, 2015), i livelli sierici di vitamina D nella popolazione e in particolare soffermarsi sull’utilità di questo metabolita come chemioterapico.
È stato infatti dimostrato che la Vitamina D previene il tumore al colon retto e che migliora la sopravvivenza in persone che già hanno il tumore. Questa tesi si avvale di dati forniti dal direttore del Laboratorio Analisi di Vittorio Veneto, prof. Giuseppe Marcon, e già pubblicati in una tesi di laurea (Mutton, 2013), di constatazioni statistiche e di una rassegna di letteratura in merito.
Si può anticipare che dai dati emerge uno stato di ipovitaminosi generalizzata nella popolazione dell’ULSS7, a tutte le età e per entrambi i sessi e che tale ipovitaminosi si aggrava nei mesi invernaliope

Cost and performance information for doctors. An international comparison
No full textIn the last decade many OECD countries have undertaken substantial changes to their system of healthcare
administration and funding. These changes have been characterised as being economically and managerially focused.
However, doctors remain central to any system of healthcare and therefore to the implementation of these reforms.
Therefore, if these changes have had any real impact on doctors then there should be a clear interest in and access
to information on the cost and outcome of clinical activity. This paper attempts to evaluate whether this is the case.
We have conducted a case study of hospital sites in the UK, Germany and Italy. We have found that although there
was some interest in cost and activity information that clinical staff generally did not have access to it. Cost and
activity information were only available to clinical staff at the most senior levels. Therefore, serious questions must
be raised about the extent of penetration that these reforms have had at the clinical leve

No full textInformation overload is an often-cited phenomenon that reduces the productivity, efficiency and efficacy of scientists. One challenge for scientists is to find appropriate collaborators in their research. The literature describes various solutions to the problem of expertise location, but most current approaches do not appear to be very suitable for expert recommendations in biomedical research. In this study, we present the development and initial evaluation of a vector space model-based algorithm to calculate researcher similarity using four inputs: 1) MeSH terms of publications; 2) MeSH terms and author rank; 3) exploded MeSH terms; and 4) exploded MeSH terms and author rank. We developed and evaluated the algorithm using a data set of 17,525 authors and their 22,542 papers. On average, our algorithms correctly predicted 2.5 of the top 5/10 coauthors of individual scientists. Exploded MeSH and author rank outperformed all other algorithms in accuracy, followed closely by MeSH and author rank. Our results show that the accuracy of MeSH term-based matching can be enhanced with other metadata such as author rank
A caring interpretation of nonprofit and third sector organizations
No full textThe paper aims to present care morality as a normative stakeholder approach for advancing meaningful conceptions and interpretations of the responsibility principle in nonprofit and third sector organizations. The language and method of care, with their focus on both dialogue and the reciprocal strengthening of interpersonal relationships as a primary means of moral deliberation, prove to be sound and defensible for enhancing proper justifications of the legitimacy of stakeholder and ‘organization-stakeholder’ relationships in European third sector environments. A reasoned review of the main literature on caring offers new insights and suggestions to conceive of nonprofit and third sector organizations as ideal ‘architectures of care’ that might simultaneously enhance the effectiveness and moral quality of public service provision in local communities. The validity of our arguments is circumscribed to membership-based nonprofit and third sector organizations (voluntary organizations and social enterprises); assets-based organizations (foundations) are not addressed
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Surface impedance of YBa2Cu3O7-d/Si structures
No full textIntegration of Superconducting films on semiconducting substrates is an important issue for microwave electronics. In order to study the performances of such structures, we perform numerical simulations of the surface impedance of YBa2Cu3O7-d (YBCO) thin films grown over Silicon (Si) substrates. We find that it can significantly differ from the value given by bulk superconductors Zs=(im0w / s)1/2, where s is the complex conductivity. We start from the full expression for the effective surface impedance of layered structures, as given by standard impedance transformations [1]
