Holan’s Poetic and Philosophic (Self-) Portrait of K. H. Macha

    No full text
Vladimir Holan is the author of a cycle of five poems and one essay treating K. H. Macha, the creator ofthe Czech modem poetry. It has already been proved that the cycle represents not only Holan’s expression of admiration fouK. H. Macha, but that it is also the self-portrait of Holan himself. The article analyses the cycle as one text integrated by Macha’s philosophy of world and man. The reconstruction of the philosophy by Macha presents at the same time the proclamation of Holan’s own philosophy

Rev. Jan Macha, a priest of the Diocese of Katowice, during the Second World War established a charity organization, whose activity was questioned by the Germans. Fr. Macha was arrested, imprisoned, sentenced to death and guillotined on December 3, 1942. In 2012, the Archbishop Wiktor Skworc made efforts to initiate the beatification process of the Silesian martyr. Focusing on following the procedures established by the Congregation for the Causes of Saints in a consistent and faithful way, the author does not avoid mentioning the difficult moments of the process. Ks. Jan Macha, kapłan diecezji katowickiej, podczas II wojny światowej stworzył organizację charytatywną, której działalność została zakwestionowana przez Niemców. Duchowny został aresztowany, uwięziony, skazany na karę śmierci i 3 grudnia 1942 r. ścięty na gilotynie. W 2012 r. abp Wiktor Skworc rozpoczął starania o wyniesienie ks. Machy na ołtarze. Artykuł przybliża kulisy i kolejne etapy (diecezjalny i rzymski) procesu beatyfikacyjnego śląskiego męczennika. Zwracając uwagę na konsekwentne i wierne trzymanie się procedur, wytyczonych przez Kongregację Spraw Kanonizacyjnych, autor nie unika wskazania trudnych momentów towarzyszących procesowi

The Third Reich towards the Church in Upper Silesia. Fr Jan Macha (1914-1942), martyr of the Christian charity. Upper Silesia is a unique part of Europe and Poland. In the past centuries, this region changed its nationality several times. It is a region with a very complex history. What remains unchanged is the faith standing by the Catholic Church and Christian values. During the Second World War, many inhabitants of Upper Silesia were persecuted by the Nazis. Among them there were many clergymen from the diocese of Katowice. One of them is Rev. Jan Macha, who for his commitment to charitable activities for suffering people, was arrested by the Germans, tortured, and at the end guillotined in the prison in Katowice. In the article, history of his life, work for people who needed support, and his martyr’s death are depicted against the background of the political, social and religious situation in Upper Silesia during the German occupation.Bibliografia: Fonti d’archivio: Archivio della Famiglia Macha di Chorzów Stary (AF), Ricordo della Prima Santa Comunione di Jan Macha. Resource-use, Territory and Property among the Macha Oromo

    No full text
The paper addresses questions of what phenomenon land tenure is and how it is to be perceived and whether there is a difference between sedentary cultivators and mobile pastoralists with regard to tenure of land. Among the Macha Oromo ideas of land tenure are intimately related to the sphere of animal husbandry. Their present land was given to them by God, but, in earlier times, it was their cattle who led them on their migrations in search of pasture and water and showed them new land where to settle. Cattle played a crucial part in the cultural appropriation of Nature. In the Macha agro-pastoral system cattle dung is used as manure to transform virgin land into arable land and to maintain its fertility. Livestock is thus a necessary precondition for sustainable agriculture and continuous land-use

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    No full text
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

ELEVEN FACES OF JAN GOGOL, JR.

    No full text
Author Jan Rendl in his thesis attempts to look at the world of ideas and educator Jan Gogola ml. through the eleven chapters in which each chapter somehow characterizes itself by Jan Gogola ml. and each of them somehow determines its creative ideas of it through the metaphor of a football match when Jan Gogola, with its characters, movies himself a teammate, as well as defensively. It gives goals with their situations as well as occasionally digging his opponents ankles. Jan Gogola ml. thus embodies one stage of the Department of Documentary Film at FAMU, which often stands at the intersection between teaching activities and Karel Vachek among students who applied by them during their seminars psychological methods that work must be peculiarly associated with the author of the film
