do envelhecimento ativo.
realizado mediante técnicas qualitativas (entrevista) e o segundo estudo, perante
Embora as
The subject studied in this Master's Thesis was based on the analysis of the main
health policies currently applied to the elderly, in order to promote active aging. The
main goal of this comparative study case was to see how the strategies developed
from health policies have an impact on quality of life and work in the prevent of
diseases in the institutionalized elderly in rural and urban context.
In this work, it was used mixed research as type of methodology. Beyond the
theoretical foundation, this research includes two studies. The first study was
conducted using qualitative techniques (interview) and the second study, with
quantitative techniques (questionnaire survey). All qualitative and quantitative data
from this research were collected in two nursing homes: one located in a rural area
(District of Bragança) and other in an urban area (Porto District). To investigate this
issue, on the qualitative study, were conducted interviews with the Managers of each
institution studied and on the quantitative study there were inquired 32 elderly, 23 of
them in the urban context and 9 of them in the rural context, in which they cooperate
voluntarily in the data collection.
The results obtained from this research show that elderly auto-perception regarding
their health, well-being and quality of life is quite satisfactory in both contexts studied.
Also, the contribution of technical expertise, with the development of diverse daily
activities, revealed influence on improving the quality of life and preservation of health
of the elderly. Although the institutions put in place similarly health policies in the
activities of daily lifes of the elderly, we confirm that it is in an urban context where
the strategies used reveal reflexes more positives on the quality of life and
preservation of health of institutionalized elderly
Countercartographies: critical practices in a hyper-mapped world
This dissertation focuses on countercartographic practices performed by activists and artists with the use of locative media. Observing these practices, which point in the opposite direction of the dominant cartographies, allows a critical visualization of tensions of the current hypermediated context. Together, this type of study allows us to point out aspects of visibility and invisibility that operate in these informational media and how they are challenged and stressed with critical lenses. To do so, some historical topics of locative representation are developed, as are some elements of the current context of profusion of the use of georeferenced maps in mobile applications. The dissertation seeks to explain, from the chosen cases, that locative technologies must be seen and operated critically, in a context in which they have been naturalized and massively incorporated in daily life
And life goes on...: the parental bereavement process after the child suicide
Examina
o processo à luz do paradigma sistêmico.
possam receber o acolhimento adequadoSuicide is a complex behavior and is considered as a public health problem. Little attention
has been given to the surviving family members. The present research deals with the
process of parental bereavement due to a child suicide. The process gathers two variable
of potential risk for the development of complicated mourning: the loss of a child and the
kind of death involving suicide. The research analyses matters related to the suicide of a
child by means of a case study, which is based on a qualitative method, involving a mother
who lost her son by suicide one year and three months before the study. A semi-structured
interview and the construction of a genogram are used as tools. The thematic analysis
reveals a singular bereavement process involving trauma and grief. It presents the son
characteristics, the illness history, the suicide, the shock, the guilt, the paralysis, longing
feelings, sadness, the ups and downs, the health and the resiliency among other emerging
aspects, which seem to be mixed in the participant s verbalization influencing in a recurrent
way the mourning process. The author draws the conclusion that religiosity, professional
support, social support, art, meaning constructions, the way of sharing among other
resources of confrontation can contribute positively, although in a short period of time, for
a change in the future expectation. The author considers that the achieved information is
only the beginning of recognition of the importance of not labeling negatively the survival
family members over suicide, besides the possibility of breaking silence and prejudice
involved in it so that they can receive the right supportConselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológic
This monograph assists the MA’s Project in Theatre – Acting/Directing Studies from ESMAE-IPP under the title Personagem em tempo real. This is a practice-based research that aims to explore the potentialities of building a character while performing it, where the actress submits her work to the audiences’ incitements on the character and the scene, translating them on stage at the moment.
This is a practice-based research that led to the construction and performance of a Theatre Event. All the research sessions and final presentations were videoed for further analyses and took place at ESMAE with differentiated audiences. The video recording provided in the appendixes should inform the reading of this document.
The text is organized in two chapters subdivided in five parts and a set of final notes, suggestive of the chronological development of the MA investigation that led to this Project and development.
The first part deals with the starting point and the set of theoretical and practical studies on improvisation and the role of this technics mainly on the 20th Century, both in live performance and its relation with the audience. It is also referred a set of studies that established the frame for experimenting along the research process.
In the second part the process of the building of the characters and its staging till the final presentations are analyzed, fostering the discussion about expectations and findings from both the actor’s and the spectator’s view point.
Finally a set of final notes was gathered. These, despite being inconclusive, allow the raising of questions that may lead into future discussions. Some of these questions relate with this process as creative method, the role of the audience as co-author and its co-responsibility in the making of theatrical event. It is also debated some of the positive and negative aspects of this object of study in meeting its goals

This research focuses on sociability in the public space of Avenida Getúlio Vargas in the municipality of Chapecó.
Patients with schizophrenia exhibit deficits in multiple domains of social cognition. However, no research has focused on examining moral emotions and their structural correlates in this clinical population. Therefore, the objective of this study was to investigate the neural correlates of envy and Schadenfreude (pleasure derived from the misfortune of others) in patients with schizophrenia and healthy controls. We recruited 27 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and 38 healthy controls to complete a task designed to evoke Schadenfreude and envy. Additionally, we administered clinical and cognitive assessments to both groups. Age, sex, and premorbid intellectual level were paired between the groups. We obtained structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) measures from a subsample of 21 patients with schizophrenia and 27 healthy controls. Voxel-Based Morphometry was employed to explore the correlations between gray matter volumes and scores on the moral emotion test. The results revealed that patients reported significantly higher levels of envy compared to the control group. However, there were no significant differences in the experience of Schadenfreude. In patients, we observed that higher levels of envy were correlated with less gray matter volume in the middle temporal gyrus. Higher Schadenfreude scores were correlated with less grey matter volume in the postcentral gyrus, the inferior temporal gyrus and the cerebellum. These brain areas have been previously associated with social cognition, particularly mentalizing abilities. Overall, our findings contribute to a better understanding of alterations in social cognition in individuals with schizophrenia.PsicólogoPregrad
