Drummond e o "Caso Lysenko" / Drummond and the “Lysenko Affair”: uma leitura de "contemplação no banco" / a reading of “contemplation on the bench”
Neste breve estudo sustentarei a tese de que o poema “Contemplação no banco”, de Carlos Drummond de Andrade, é uma descrição poética e visionária do novo homem que supostamente seria fabricado pela “Biologia proletária” de Trofim D. Lysenco (1898-1976). Essa hipótese de leitura tem como prova documental as declarações dadas pelo próprio Drummond numa entrevista concedida ao jornalista Otto Lara Resende, em dezembro de 1948. Ao ler a entrevista, constatei que as respostas dadas pelo poeta desvelam o conteúdo enigmático do poema. Drummond estava particularmente preocupado com os desdobramentos futuros da revolução genética então em curso na União Soviética stalinista. Tal revolução era conhecida pela opinião pública mundial como o “caso Lysenko”. Por isso, ao longo do poema, o eu-lírico reitera a tese lysenkoísta segundo a qual o novo homem da Biologia soviética romperia radicalmente com as leis genéticas da hereditariedade mendeliana e com o mito da origem adâmica da humanidade judaico-cristã. Tal revolução genética teria por corolário a refutação das leis fixistas da hereditariedade que, para Lysenko, eram apenas a expressão tirânica de uma ideologia reacionária, fascista, idealista, capitalista e burguesa

Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Characterization of the structural response of a lithiated SiO<sub>2</sub> / Si interface: A reactive molecular dynamics study
We report the results of a computational study regarding the mechanical properties of a lithiated Si/SiO2 interface using reactive molecular dynamics. The study is motivated by an intended application of SiO2-coated Sinanotubes as fibers in structural batteries with a fiber-reinforced composite architecture while serving as anodes. According to the results, main failure properties due to partly irreversible bond breakage during mechanical deformation are identified, indicating agreement with bond energy/bond order based estimates. Microscopic failure properties are also identified and interpreted in view of the observed processes of bonding degradation. In particular, the effect of Li distribution on the shear deformation response is evaluated as significant.Applied Mechanic

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

Arenibacter certesii sp. nov., a novel marine bacterium isolated from the green alga Ulva fenestrata
The taxonomic position of a novel, marine, heterotrophic, aerobic, pigmented, non-motile bacterium that was isolated from a green alga, Ulva fenestrata, inhabiting the Sea of Japan, was determined. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis revealed that the strain, KMM 3941T, is a member of the genus Arenibacter. The results of DNA-DNA hybridization experiments, supported by phenotypic and chemotaxonomic data, showed that the isolate represents a novel species of the genus Arenibacter, for which the name Arenibacter certesii sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is KMM 3941T (=KCTC 12113T=CCUG 48006T).open
